Burton and Murray Wanted Out Of The Hill

At the CW "upfronts" this Thursday, it was confirmed that One Tree Hill will remain on the CW schedule, despite the loss of two main characters, played by Chad Michael Murray and Hilarie Burton.
The news of their departure spawned a lot of speculation and rumor, most of which discussed the pair wanting more money, which Burton denied.
But, after hearing what CW entertainment president Dawn Ostroff has to say, we're thinking they were just greedy bitches. She told TV Guide: "We tried to get them to stay; we would have been thrilled if they wanted to."
So, they didn't want to? Why wouldn't they? Like they have soooo much going for them.
It was totally about money.
But Ostroff doesn't want fans to worry. The show will carry on: "We look at shows like ER, shows that go on for many, many years, and a lot of those casts go through different people. So we are sad to see [Chad and Hilarie] go — and grateful for everything they did for the show — but excited about seeing who else is going to join the cast."

I never understand why working actors volunteer to be unemployed. Also, the show is free to go into another direction and probably will get better.

I hate greedy actors. Neither of them are gonna go anywhere now. Us fans worked hard to keep this show on the air and they kick us in the teeth to thank us. Good riddance. I will continue to support the show and all those who continue to try to give us the fans what we deserve!

I've been watching this show since I was 12 (Im 18 now) & it is going to be so weird without Peyton & Lucas.I don't know if Im going to watch the next season though.This past season kinda sucked.
i dont care what anyone says…. one tree hill will not be the same without these two…. this story line is the one that everyone is most interested in… i mean come on… is everyone gonna get into nathan and haleys same ol story or mouth and millie? prob not…. the shows officially going to suck now… THANKS A LOT CHAD AND HILARIE!

hilarie did not leave for money, however it is more than likely that chad did.
hilarie did an interview and said she was leaving to do more things with her production company that she owns with her husband. not everything is about money for everyone.
Perez do you watch OTH? if you do you should know the show already sucks. Bad writing and too much secondary characters and next season with all the "new" characters i don't see it getting any better. I predict early cancellation next season. Have you seen the ratings lately?

All in all, it's good that Sophia and James and Hilarie are coming back to Tree Hill and I, for one, am ready to move forward from Hilarie and Chad's exit.

this show is going to die without them, I loved them but maybe its better for them if they try to do something else while they are young, if they keep on doing one tree hill until they are too old, the best years for an actor will be gone and they'll become too stigmitized trapped in their roles.

OTH was confirmed months ago to be coming back regardless.
If you actually read the interviews with Burton, you'd see that money wasn't an issue, at least not for her.
Additionally, Burton a lot in the works with Southern Gothic Productions. You'd know that if you did your research.
Lastly, the show probably won't be better as most fans are devastated by their absence.

That sucks that they are both gone. I would have preffered for the show to end this year if all the originals weren't to come back for season 7. I love Leyton! I wanted to see Sawyer grow up. It would have been fun to see. I'm looking at the bright side and hoping that there will be more Naley in season 7! And p.s. I really don't think, at least I choose to think that it wasn't about money, at least for Hilarie because I see her as an amazing actress who cares about the work as opposed to the amount of money she gets. She just doesn't seem greedy to me. I don't know about Chad. I think they both just wanted to move on to other projects. There's nothing wrong with that. I'll miss them! They were my 2nd favorite couple on the show.

I guess execs and others at the network were thinking about $$$, but seriously, My name is Earl got the ax, but the lamest attempt at a Dawson's Creek ripoff is remaning WITHOUT 2 LEAD CHARACTERS. I'm sure it would cost CW way to much to pick up Earl, but this is another Arrested Development story. Where an award winning, fast, and relevent show gets pulled, yet garbage remains on the air. I don't like pulling the race card, but this is the internet. The CW should've kept the black show "The Game". If anything, they would be admired for choosing a minority geared show that probably has the same amount of viewers as some show that was garbage from the jump minus the hot divorced old news actor with a stalled career.

This was my favorite frickin show, and they're just going to ruin it without Leyton!! It's ridiculous. The show started w/ Leyton wanting to be together, and it should just end with them leaving. The writers are already ripping off s/ls from other shows/movies! The dog eating the heart - RAT RACE; Haley marrying Leyton after becoming a minister on the internet - FRIENDS…..and don't even get me started on that whole Nanny Carrie junk…and Dan was supposed to be dead SO long ago. It's just insane…. I think they should just end the show
I will not be sad to see them go, Peyton is too dramatic and annoying. I hope they stay unemployed, it is not as if they have had so much work with movies. I have not seen them in anything.
Chad wanted out. Hilarie wanted to stay. Chad quit the show, Hilarie got fired because of it. Its common knowledge to anyone who follows the show and has been for months now. You need to do more research before posting, don't just take a quote and spin it into what you want it to mean, because you're wrong.
4 regulars left, along with a massive chunk of the fan base. One Tree Hill is going to do terrible next season.

Chad is a total ass for this! One Tree Hill is going to still do good I think in season 7, but Mark should stop after that. I'm really excited to see how they develop Sophia's character next season, she is going to be great.
I bet Chad will want to come back when he realises he pretty much has no acting career other than the show, his biggest claim to fame other than this is sleeping with skank features Paris Hilton, eew.
