We mentioned yesterday about the douchebag actor on the Young and the Restless who refused to do a man-on-man kiss. He thought the shift was uncharacteristic and he held meetings with the heads of the program to get it changed.
When they didn't, Chris Engen up and quit.

With integrity to stand by their storyline and two of their openly gay cast members, the show let the bastard walk and quickly hired a new fella: Michael Muhney from Veronica Mars
We wish Michael a lot of luck and hope Chris likes his new job as a kid's party clown!

That isn't why he's leaving at all. If you WATCHED the show then you would know that his character, Adam, has been written into a corner. He started off as a successful business man who was the son of the richest man on the show and who had finally found his family and now he has gone blind, he is under house arrest and he is attempting to gaslight his step mother by making her go crazy over being haunted by a dead woman. Then, they were going to have him turn gay with his lawyer. Not everything is about being homophobic you know. Sometimes people just disagree with the direction of their character and since it is their livelihood I think they have every right to be upset with the way they are having to portray a character from day to day. Get your facts straight perez.
Is that the Adam character? If you watched the show you'd know it wouldn't make sense for him to suddenly be gay. He has a girlfriend, has been engaged… he is blind now, so I guess he could accidentally kiss a dude. But you messed up the pic so much, I can't tell if it is Adam or not.
BTW, THAT DOES NOT MAKE HIM HOMOPHOBIC! And think about that word… unreasonably scared of things that are the same. I think you all need a new word!
Sorry, big P, but I have to agree with most of the other posters. It's not exactly homophobic to not want to kiss someone same sex if you're straight. It's not like the guy is some Oscar winning actor or something…he's a SOAP OPERA ACTOR. And even the Oscar winners don't always do things that are out of their own personal range. Some people can do it, some people can't. It's just that simple.
CHRIS if you even bother to read this crap written about you - just know that there are many many many people who would not label you a homophobe for not wanting to kiss another man. It's equal to not wanting to be naked in front of a camera. Kudos for you for standing up for YOUR RIGHT to do what you want.

I am so glad this guy left the show and proved a point, you would have done the same if you had to kiss a GIRL! The show is lame now anyway, he left a sinking ship. The only thing worth seeing was when Bo and Hope lived on there boat called Fancy Face and Patch and Kayla were signing to each other at their wedding!

I watch this soap and the character had no business kissing another guy. When I read this I couldn't believe the writers would do that to the character. I knew they had a new gay character on the show, but Adam (Chris's) character would have been an illogical choice to pair him up with. Perez, if you don't watch the show, and don't know the characters, please don't make any uninformed comments…

As a gay man and an avid fan of Y&R, I am in total opposition to your claim that Chris Engen is a homophobe. That is utterly ridiculous! If you were to do your research, you would know that the character Chris Engen plays (Adam Wilson AKA Victor Newman, Jr.) has been straight throughout his appearance the show. As a matter of fact, his character has been sleeping with the same girl throughout his stint on the show. It makes absolutely no sense that the writers of this show would now try to make his character gay. That is not an accurate representation of how we as homosexuals come to be gay. As a matter of fact, it further leads the general public to believe that we are choosing to be gay and that we can turn it on and off like a light switch. At least for me and probably the vast majority of homosexuals, being gay is something that I have been since birth or at least as young as I can remember having feelings of attraction toward another person in a sexual manner. I am all for having a gay couple on Y&R, but for God's sake have them come on the show as gay, not being straight at one time and then deciding to become gay. I applaud Chris for having the balls to stand up against the show for what is right for his character even if it means losing his job.

Lots of straight actors have to kiss people they aren't attracted to, let alone like. As an actor, he should have just sucked it up. Soap opera kissing doesn't even involve tongue. It's not like he was asked to take part in a porno!
However, if he had a problem with the storyline because it's out of left field, that's another issue entirely. His character has dated several women on the show, was engaged to one that he's still sleeping with, and has never given any sign about being conflicted about it. If Y&R wanted a gay character so badly, they should have written a new one, not tried to make something fit that doesn't work to suit their agenda. Being gay isn't as simple as one size fits all.
He never said anything against gays you dumb ass. He just didn't want to do a gay scene, that's allowed. So Perez, quit overanalyzing and finding ways to hate everyone, because people are going to start hating you. You're a loser.

Re: Firestormz – Thanks for the kudos and for sharing my thoughts on a Y&R board. Hope the writers or someone of importance with the show sees them. I really hope they re-think this. I have been a fan of this show for over 20 years and I intend to stop watching it if this is the direction they decide to take with Chris' character. I also quit watching Greys this year after they did this same thing with Sara Ramirez's character (Torres). Just goes to show how out of touch these shows are with the homosexual community. Which actually surprises me a lot. As I've said before I'm 100% in favor of having gay characters on a show, but it has to be done right in order for the general public to even remotely begin to accept it. Making a character who has been straight during their entire screen time on a show suddenly gay is not the right way to do it. That is NOT an accurate representation of a homosexual person at all.
