Access Hollywood is reporting is reporting that newly crowned American Idol champ, Kris Allen, won by a healthy majority this week.

When given the news, the singer responded, "Really? America’s gonna vote whichever way they want to… I don’t know."

Such insight!

Why did he prevail over fan favorite Adam Lambert?

Kris was quoted that he is "just a regular guy."

Why? Because the week before, when Danny was voted off, it was only one million votes separating Adam and Kris. And Danny is a lot more like Kris than Adam, so his fans probably liked Kris a lot too. So then they voted for Kris.

Whatever, I am actually glad Adam came second because now he'll get the opportunity to do the music he wants to do - not having to sing No Boundaries millions of times. He is so much better than songs like that!

Rock on Adam! You know you have many fans, and many fans outside of the US. We can't buy your music from iTunes yet, but when we can we will sure support you!

Has anyone read the Clay Aiken blog yet. He went off on Adam and it's really stupid.

I think it's great that people got behind Adam. But I was disappointed to see Perez diss him because he didn't "own up" to being gay. I didn't take the interview as that at all. I think Adam was messing with him.

Obviously perez hasn't seen it was shown that cheating occurred in Kris's home state of Arkansas. Out of the 100 million votes cast 38 milllion came from Arkansas. Considering only 2.8 million people in total live there that would be virtually impossible. It's been shown they used a special computer program to vote longer then the hours allowed.

Adam has some GREAT pipes (I'll give him that) but his eye makeup, clothes, nail polish and tongue hanging out…… I could have done without! This is a STANDARD situation in those tv-shows, as it's about money that Simon 666 Cowell and others make, than about really promoting somobody. He has a smooth voice but a horrible, horrible manner of this pseudo-falsetting which is able to wreck up most of the songs. My personal bitterness is "Kiss from a rose". You just CAN'T wreck this beautiful song like that!! He definetly deserves a hard training on his voice. Because of his capturing personality - artist inside. You just don't see people like these everyday. But who cares? Perez? Nope! He only cares if he's gay or not and if he's coming out! How lame. I liked both of them. However, I was turned off that Adam thought he needed to SCREAM and over due almost every song. It was so annoying!!!! I think Adam should be more a broadway/ musical performer. Whereas, Kris is more the "average" good singer that has a good chance of getting good air play in the future.

Adam lost because his musical style did not appeal to enough people. By claiming it is all because he is gay you are insulting his talent. They were both really good and the contest was not a gay versus straight thing but since you are narrow minded you see it that way. For those who say Adam lost because he was gay, Clay Aiken said today he's glad Kris won, because he couldn't stand Adam and didn't understand what people liked about him. So, maybe there's some people out there who just didn't like Adam's way of singing after all. Unfortunately, that's the problem with a lot of gays…if you don't like them, well, it must be because he's gay. It was the same with Obama…if you don't like him, well, it must be because he's black.

But, also, it was sites like this that made such a big deal out of Adam being gay. Most Americans didn't know, and I think most who voted still don't know, since it was never publicized in the mainstream. So, if you think Adam lost because he was gay, it's sites like Perez Hilton that are to blame.

Honestly, Perez….. America voted and Kris was the winner! Personally I liked BOTH Adam and Kris, thought they brought talent and originality to the contest in different ways. And, it's not like Kris went out and voted 10 million times for himself!!! I also found this outcome very interesting since the American Idol machine was pimping Adam from the begininng. I truly believe that BOTH Adam and Kris have bright futures ahead of them and Adam has done what no other media or blogger HAS done, he has stayed humble and praised his fellow contestant for a well fought win. Adam is showing more class than anybody in the media and all of you should take a lesson from him.

Adam Lambert has more talent in his little finger than Kris Allen has all over. There is no comparison. Kris sounds like a hotel bar singer, good enough but by no means great. Lambert is a dynamo, taking command of the stage AND the audience, his charisma and stage presence are overwhelming. I had picked him as the winner from day 1 and I was right. I understand that the southern fundamentalists seem to think Kris was preordained by God to win…sound familiar?… (These are the same southern hicks who voted for George W.) So they gathered their masses to cram the phone lines with multiple calls each for Kris….(God works in strange ways). It's a good thing these hillbillies only get one paper ballot in the presidential election, otherwise they would have all voted multiple times for George W. All in God's name, of course. Adam Lambert's star will rise to monumental heights while Kris Allen will settle into a career of mediocrity commensurate with his talent. I feel time will inevitably bear this out.

All this talk about who was a better singer than this person is BS. The judges keep saying over and over it's a singing competition, but is it really one, or just a popularity contest? Think of the pop singers past and present who have sold millions without being able to sing a lick. Do you think Bob Dylan would have made it past AI judges? Sure he's a talented songwriter and is well-respected, but his voice is an acquired taste. Paula Abdul was once one of the top pop singers in the world–6 #1 singles and several multi-platinum albums, but yet if there were an American Idol in her day, she would have never made it past the first audition. People listen to what's popular at the moment; there are many great singers who've fallen off the wayside in lieu of less talented but more physically and commercially appealing singers. If we were to go by the logic of some of these posters on here, Celine Dion and Barbra Streisand, whom are technically better singers, would be dominating the charts right now rather than people like Britney, Beyonce, or Madonna.

Perez, seriously, it's time to grow up. You are being incredibly immature about this whole situation. If Kris Allen had been gay, you would've been made a big spectacle out of supporting him, out of him winning. Talent doesn't matter at all to you. You haven't supported Adam the whole season, just posted pictures of Adam and his boyfriend and Adam in pictures that would further prove he was gay; all that matters to you is their sexuality. I didn't like Adam when the season first started, then liked him when he stripped his performances down and did something different, but then, he stopped growing. You knew what to expect from him and the judges' CLEAR bias turned me off. They were pushing him down America's throats and it was so obvious, I think that's what turned a LOT of people off from voting for him. I know quite a few friends of mine felt the same way. Kris was a true musician… playing multiple instruments, arranging songs in a sophisticated manner so he could stay true to himself and his craft… and maybe he wasn't as in your face as Adam, but he's a talented guy. He was a true dark horse, going from not being shown before the Top 36 to winning; he grew EVERY SINGLE WEEK. And every single blog, if you were following the whole competition, said he was one of the most likeable contestants the show has ever seen.

The majority of repsonse seem to be in agreement. The question to ask is whether or not the post was intentionally written this way, meaning Perez is a genius and is stoking the fire some more, or he is just a petty child screaming in the corner for not getting his way.

I would never censor free speech. But as a gay man, I take offense at how he characterizes all gay people and how he tries to force gay people to reveal their private lives when it's not HIS choice to do so. I also find his support of all things gay, whether bad, good or in between–ridiculous. Gay rights is one thing. But if I have to support all things gay, isn't that just another dogma not letting me CHOOSE what I like best?

why does everyone assume that perez only likes adam so much because he is gay? i'm not gay, and i think adam is one of the best singers i've ever heard, and i'm just as upset that he didn't win (although i'm sure it's better for his career that he didn't).

Perez. Here's the thing. You had a few really decent contestants, OK? So people had choices. Adam, or somebody else, when it was spread over three or four or eight other people. But when it came down to Adam or Kris, Kris got all the "somebody else" votes, except maybe for a few Allison supporters. It was about Adam's style of singing, his outfits, his looks. The entire package. I think by the time Danny left, Adam had peaked. He was getting all the votes he was ever gonna get. Kris got allll the rest. Plus, Arkansas voted HUGE for Kris. I think you had two very different styles of music, and Kris is more mainstream. The American Idol audience isn't exactly MTV.

You are referring to educated, hardworking people who love their families, their country, find meaning and purpose in their lives, and have faith in God, who you will sooner or later find out exists. It is people like you who twist everything to look certain ways from your perspective. People who voted for Kris in Arkansas are loving people who wanted to support one of their own. Maybe California should have done the same for Adam.
