Macca: Can't See His House From Here

Filed under: Anglophilia > Paul McCartney

apaul.jpg

Sir Paul McCartney is a little anal. The former Beatle brought beef to the mega search engine, Google, for including his London pad on the Google Maps website.

McCartney complained that his house was in full view when visitors of the site enabled the street view feature and his security team deemed it a safety issue.

Thus the property is no longer viewable and Google announced that now anyone can remove their house from the site by clicking a button.

We hope they are aware that the feature isn't a live feed of the street. It's not like anyone can spy on him using Google!

I think google maps is very intrusive. You can see cars in people's driveways, and even read the license plates. Too much info, I can see why anyone's security team would be concerned.

  2. 2

    Stupid…what a moron

  3. 3

So lame. It doesn't show anything you wouldn't be able to see by driving or walking by yourself. I understand McCartney's stance a bit, but for a regular person..c'mon. Deal with it. I could just as easily see the cars and license plates in your drive way by just driving by…

is there a big sign on his house that says "paul mccartney lives here"? how are people going to know it's his house and not any other house? i mean, if they know his address then they can just drive there and see what the googlemaps car did when it drove by and took the picture, which kind of defeats the purpose. i mean, if you're that paranoid, why not just buy a house on the flippin' moon?

  5. 5

What a douche! He should be glad people are just looking at his house from the internet and not in person…

  6. 6

Smart- too many crazies out there. We all have the right to privacy.

  7. 7

oh, maybe he just contributed to some privacy of our lives. I also wouldn't want my home to be visible to everybody everywhere in the world. This is probably what most people don't get. It's not about everyone's freedom to look but about one's right for protection.
But anyway the techniques to spy are surely far beyond google. It's logical and should be obvious to everyone.

google street map view pictures are often years old my sisters is about 3 years old…

  9. 9

    I thought Paul was dead…

  10. 10

    weird

  11. 11

perez, you seem to be forgetting that john lennon was murdered and george harrison was attacked by a man in his house and stabbed….why would paul want his house visible to possibly allow some nutjob the opportunity to plan something??? sure it's visible from the street, but if a person is outside acting whacky, then security can deal with that there, but they can't plan for someone who studies the house from the internet…

  12. 12

its a picture of his house
we all have seen pics of ppls houses
its supposed to help with directions and the license plates and most peoples faces in the pics are blurred out

  13. 13

    Two words-John Lennon

Of course the man is paranoid, remember how John died. Geez Perez !

  14. 14

You can see in my uncle's garage, but since he isn't a Paul McCartney, nobody is too concerned about it. Who even searches for Paul McCartney's house on Street View?

  15. Jerk says – reply to this

    15

He's becoming almost as big of a douche bag as John Lennon. Wait, nevermind, that's not possible.

  16. 16

Sorry Macca, but no one really gives a shizz where you live.

  17. 17

They may not spy as such, but have you got a frigging clue how man great houses have been targeted using Google Street by robber.? It is effing intrusive shitz.

  18. 18

our rock tour of london drove right past his house. the guide made sure to point out where he lived.

  19. 19

If anyone cares, and you happen to be in London, One of his houses is on 24 Campbell, a 5 minute walk from Abbey Road. Take the Tube stop to St John's Wood and walk 5 minutes to that infamous pedestrian crossing. It's nothing special. Don't go out of the way to see either Abbey Road, one of his residences or Abbey Road studio. Believe me, it's not worth going. I just happen to be in the neighbourhood.

I wish they'd take a new pic of my house. My yard is totes dead (it was taken in winter - i have a gorgeous lawn usually!) and the sun is hitting at a very unattractive angle :D

    Re: Kissa6669

If you have a house, it is. Go type in your address at Google maps and click on street view. It's a little freaky. One day I was stuck in bed all day with the flu and google mapped all of my friends' houses :D Kind of funny… when you have the flu ;-)

  22. 22

holy sh! like viewing his fortress house is a sin! save my eyeballs from it!!

  23. 23

    what a silly old man

  24. 24

Re: Miss Tia – Thank you for posting that! I know it's the weekend, but seriously, people… Perez, you DO remember John Lennon being murdered outside his own apartment, don't you? If I was Macca, I'd want my house taken off Google as well.

  25. 25

    LIBERACE!

  26. 26

It's irrelevant that it is not a live feed. The point is that his house is identified.
