Filed under: Gay Gay GayNevada governor Jim Gibbons has vetoed the domestic partnership bill that state's legislature just passed which would have given gay couples some of the same rights enjoyed by those who are married.
The governor said Senate Bill 283 “would effectively bypass that constitutional mandate by allowing the rights and privileges of marriage to be bestowed upon non-married persons.”
Sen. David Parks, D-Las Vegas, the sponsor of the bill, said previously he would talk with leadership to determine if an attempt will be made to override the veto.

Massachusetts (learn how to spell it correctly if you want to use it in your stats) is not a low minority state. Although it has great colleges, it is not a highly educated state since more than half of its schools fell way below the state educational K-12 curriculum standards. So before you decide to spout off statistics, you might want to know what you're talking about first. I live in California. We have enough problems without court battles draining our budget. Plain and simple. You get the same benefits as I do with a civil union except you don't get to be "married". That's a religious ceremony and doesn't belong in our courts. There's a reason our forefathers wisely separated church and state. Now shut up and take your goddamn civil union benefits.
