HUGE Ratings For Gosselins!
Guess no one was listening to the haters.
The premiere of Jon & Kate Plus Eight came in with record ratings on Monday night.
The hour long episode, which was promoted hardcore and focused on the sextuplets 5th birthday and the media firestorm around the family and Jon & Kate's cheating scandals, sucked in 9.8 million viewers, which is DOUBLE the audience that tuned in for last season's finale.
Damn.
The event has become the most-watched episode ever on TLC and of the Jon & Kate series, no doubt in part to tension-filled editing and interviews of a clearly distant Jon and Kate Gosselin.
Well, we saw that one coming.
But we hope the rents can get it together for the kids. As captivating as a reality TV divorce might be for ratings, the family should be the most important thing!

I really hope they can work through this. I think they are both willing too, they just don't know how. Say what you will about Kate, but you can't say that she wouldn't do anything for her kids which was shown last night.
I knew there would be more viewers than usual. Hell, I almost watched it!
i tried not to watch it but at the end they won.
Ratings are up because people are curious and laughing at the freaks.

i could not get over how AWKWARD jon and kate were together. it was actually uncomfortable to watch. it is extremely sad that a possible divorce is what is making this tv show even more popular.

Well, not that I really "care", but it's to be expected, folks. Look how all the cast members of the Hills get endorsement deals, start clothing lines, pretend to be rappers/singers…..they're pulling as much as they can out of it. It's been said that the Gosselins make 75k an Episode; doncha think they'll "fake it to make it" for at least another two Seasons?
That's a cool 1.5 mil split if they do.

i have always loved the show. it was very hard to watch. almost uncomfortable. made me sad because it was fun to watch at one time.
I don't give a shit about their marriage - I have enough drama in my own marriage to deal with. She's a bitch and her body is wrecked after 8 kids so I hope the rumors that he's fooling around on the side are true. He deserves some young sweet ass after that monster he's married to.
i admit, i bawled when kate was crying. she tries to be so tough and stuff, but seeing her lose it did it for me
i hope that they are able to be cordial to each other for the sake of the kids, even if they aren't able to save their marriage.

I've watched "Jon & Kate Plus 8" from the very beginning. I've always enjoyed watching the show, and look forward to the future episodes. Hopefully Jon & Kate can get their shit together and pull through for the kids. I watched last night's episode and it was seriously heart breaking. It's so upsetting to see whats happened to them over the years….
Kate is a nutty bitch, but I hope she sees the light for the sake of her kids. Poor Jon looks like he just wants a more normal life. She seems like a fame whore.

I was really bored with the show. i personally only watch for the kids, and my love for Alexis (shes the best). You could totally tell there not together. Never in the same house, what it looked like to me was a custody arrangment except with the parents coming and going instead of the kids being shuffled around (how it should be)…still it was sad. The kids clearly missed him, and some even said that….plus Kate said shes still in, whereas Jon said hes only for the kids….
I feel so sad for the kids. I hope these 2 parents can hold it together and not drag the kids through their mess.

It was an extremely uncomfortable episode to watch. I'm use to them joking around and Kate making little comments while Jon tries to brush it off his shoulders.
As someone else said, it was very awkward seeing the two of them together.
But I'm hoping they can work everything out. Their kids are precious and I feel sorry for them.
i am really rooting for them. i've seen almost every jon and kate episode but never saw one like last night, it was very strange how distant they were with one another. i hope they can work this out.

i actually just started watching that show over the weekend because of the marathon and now i love it! the new episode was great but even i felt awkward just watching them interviewed seperatly.

Kate's tears were for sympathy. She s an expert at playing her public.
Jon was only gone for the weekend. Since he is the one raising the kids they missed him being gone. He is their only hands on parent.
Kate is hardly ever home. Did you notice now uncomfortable she was in her own house? Any affection she shows the kids is for the show only. She does nothing for the kids and has not since they were born. What you see her doing is for the show only.
Jon and nannies do the rest.

I watched it, and the most heart wrenching parts were when one of the daughters told her Dad she loved and missed him. Sniff! Sniff! The other was when John tried talking to Kate, and she just kept ignoring him even though they were looking at each other. I hope they work it out. Even if these kids were not as cute as buttons, a family should try to stay together (WORK IT OUT YOU 2)!!!
Kate looked like she was trying to hard. John looked sad and miserable. It was not fun to watch. But the kids sure are cute! Whether or not he cheated, he was an idiot for hanging out with a 23-year-old girl at 2 in the morning.

I think most people just wanted to see what they would have to say and that the ratings for the coming shows will die down.
i admit, and in complete shame mind you, that yes, i watched…an hours and 15 minutes that i'll never get back of my life…point and laugh, i would….
Of course people watched this show last night, we all love a good train wreck to look at.
I don't feel sorry for them, not one bit.
I could imagine how stressful it would be to have twins. That by itself would drive me insane. Now add 6 more children, all the same age.

So for now, these self absorbed shallow yuppies got tons of money from all the exposure. They have a new huge house, Kate has a new 'do, Jon gets his hair plugs, they get to wear expensive clothing….and their marriage has turned to shit and they cannot stand each other and their private lives have been made public fodder for tabloids.
I hope they are happy now. Money makes everything better doesn't it?

I actually started crying when Alexis was talking to her dad about how she invited a boy and they hugged and she said i don't want you to leave again!! aghhh poor little girl! I swear he wanted to cry too! and when he got to the party and was trying to talk to Kate about why they weren't using all the blow up castles she COMPLETELY blew him off wouldn't even look at him and left it to i think one of the kids to explain it. It's almost too painful to watch anymore!

When watching the show's marathon this weekend I noticed that Kate would always bring Jon down. Whether it was about a word he said, or how he cooked, what he was wearing, etc. She treated him like a baby. I can understand why he was tired of her. Kate acted like she was the boss. Also, I noticed that when Kate was talking with Jon by her side on the couch every time Kate said something negative towards Jon his eyes would role. As if he were saying "are you effing kidding me?". Kate is a great mom don't get me wrong, and Jon's a good dad but THEY together need to get some counseling. Not to mention, In last nights episode Jon was saying how Kate gets to go out on book tours and she gets to be the one to travel and not him. He helped raise those kids to ya know. He deserves to go out just as much as she does.

I wouldn't watch that self-absorbed ridiculous woman for any amount of money. She's made a mockery of motherhood, complaining about having to handle the birthday party by herself. What about all the single moms, or those moms whose husbands are away fighting in Iraq?? The truth is Kate has pimped her kids out for money. Well, now she has the notoriety and the money and she's bitching about the invasion in her privacy. What an ungrateful, stupid woman. I wish they would quit the show, try to work on their marriage, and let their kids grow up out of the spotlight.

I watched it and almost wished I hadn't. If I wanted to see a marriage filled with tension and pain, I would go back 10 years in my life. I watched that show to see happiness and cute kids. She says she "tried" for "six months". Try six years of "trying" and then see how it goes. Six months is nothing in a marriage. They both need to realize that divorce is HARD on kids and every effort should be made to avoid it. I don't think I can watch it again…too depressing.
I've watched this show from the very beginning and last nights episode made me sooo sad. Jon and Kate arent perfect and the media needs to get off their backs. Ever since the octomom came along the media hasnt stopped bothering this family. This shows been on the air for years and only recently has all this media attention come along I say let this family do their show and the papparazzi needs to get off their ass.

Its kind of sickening to think of how much scrutiny these people get from the media, like why do you people care SO much what they're doing outside of the show ? It has no bearing on your life and nothing you will say or do will impact theirs, grow up and take care of your own.
I doubt they will stay together. They may stay married, but I can't see them living together (which they don't even now). There is no trust on either part, they could barely look at each other and they have NO LOVE. Kate is too much of a control freak to change. Someone is going to find her in a corner one day sitting with her legs drawn up and sucking her thumb. Everything they say is for the kids. They don't even talk about working on their marriage which they did at some point last season. It was sad when one of the little girls told Jon she didn't want him to go away anymore. I think Jon more than Kate is tired of pretending. I don't watch the show on a regular basis, but i was NOT going to miss the season opener. From here on out I'm not really interested. I can see TLC turning this show into one about Kate and the Kids. Kate Plus Eight, after all ratings are more important than lives.

I watched it when it came on. I have watched since they had their first special on the Dicovery Health Channel. I have decided that since watching last night I'm not going to watch anymore. I don't want to give kate the ratings she craves. I hope that the show gets canceled b/c I believe that is the only way they can save this family. I used to look forward to the new episodes coming on, but lately Kate has become such a monster I can't stand to watch her anymore! I really hope Jon and Kate can work through this for the kids!

That's MY decision but I would certainly support any man who decides that he wants to cheat if he's unhappy in his marriage or if his wife is a bitch.
I watched it. Seems like he's very bitter over her domination in the family and the show, along with some serious mid-life crisis action. She seems slightly toned down in her b*tchy attitude, but he's being a major jerk. I hope they work through it for each other. I think this should be the last season with yearly check ins on the family.

Jon and Kate did exactly what they wanted to do, created some huge PR nonsense just to stay relevant and get people to watch their new season since ratings were dropping off, and you pathetic sheep caved in. If you had to get your update, I'm sure there was no shortage of blogs that could have helped you out with that. Kate you wasnt complaining about all the cameral when the show first started so why complain now and complained about how you had to plan a party buy yourself ts about time you keep your a– home and do something with the kids you looked like you couldnt waite for the show to be over because you are not used to been with the kids that long, i hope you take this as a learning expersin and think about the family you wasnt complaining about the camera when you was on oprah show. On a positive note ive watch the show from the beginning and i love the kids i hope that you two can raise the kids togeather because that is alot of kids to seperate.
This is a prime example of just how horrible celebrity can be. These people became an overnight success and now the media hound them endlessly. Rumors innuendos and backstabbing family members who appear more jealous than truthful are ruining this family. Whats worse is he public cant get enough. The more drama and rumors of infidelity, the more popular it becomes. Society sucks. Leave this family to repair itself.

I had never seen the show until I saw the scandal, and decided to do as any good American and tune in. I watched some re-runs over the weekend of their trip to FL. Kate is a whack job. I never saw her singing to her kids, or being nurturing~she's all bitchy and bossy all the time. Jon seems like a nice guy, and his behavior is clearly in response to the daily beat down he takes from Kate. Poor guy can't answer a question withourt her blabbing in and correcting him. He deserves to go get laid by someone that respects him and doesn't treat him like a friggin' servant.

i really hope they can work it out. They clearly love their kids, it happens, people grow apart. but if they see a counsellor and work out their problems they can probably get it together for the kids! hopefully, i love this show, one of my favs! So hopefully everything goes well:)
I only saw the ending when they were getting interviewed, very sad..goes to show what the neighbors and relatives were saying was TRUE…

I saw the finale and the marathon just for the hell of it since everyone keeps talking about the cheating scandals–and i LOVED it! The kids are SOOOOOOO uber-cute and funny! The show itself is fun to watch and the new season is sad b/c of what's happening. What's even sadder is that the kids are so innocent about all of it. I almost cried when Jon arrived to the party and one of the little girls hugged him and said how much he missed him. I also teared a little when Kate broke down at the end b/c she thought that might be the last family picture.
