Knock, Knock Washington D.C.

The Housewives franchise is coming to our nation's capitol!
Bravo just announced that the hit docu-series The Real Housewives is gearing up to develop the next addition in Washington D.C.
The new housewives will be the kind of personalities you would expect to find on capitol hill: "influential players, cultural connoisseurs, fashion sophisticates and philanthropic leaders."
Bravo released a statement, discussing the newest locale and housewives of the franchise. They say:
"A place for power and politics, Bravo is scouting the D.C. area to identify the city's alluring and discriminating residents, those women who have their pulse on the most important cultural events, political galas, gallery openings and fundraisers in Washington society. These leading members of D.C. society are in the know and comfortable discussing everything from the economy to high fashion. They are the talk of the town in the most powerful city in the world."
Sounds decent, but the only housewife we are truly interested in lives in a big white house on Pennsylvania Ave. Lock her in and we are sure to watch!
What do U think of the next location for Housewives?

ZOMG
MEH ROFLCOPTER GOES:
SOI SOIS SOI SOI SOI SOI SOI SOI
i hope chicago…the city is amazing and there are plenty of rich women
O RLY?
YA RLY!
The Housewives are coming to DC… and I lost a Stalker (I mean Follower) at Twitter. What a great day this is turing out to be!!!!!!
Take note everyone. If you want someone to leave you alone, all you have to do is mention the word "Coldplay." LMAO!!!!!!
CAPS LOCK IS CRUISE CONTROL FOR COOL.
I'm in your comments, posting random shit.
LULZ
Gawd, it's no wonder Americans are falling all over each other to make money any way they can, no matter how many bodies they step on to get it. The shallow, greedy unintelligent media feeds us this feeding frenzy shit. There is more to life's meaning than blind ambition and piles of money. Try helping out the widowed lonely little old lady down the street. I'll bet you don't even know if she's eaten anything today. I'll bet she's too arthritic now to plant a few flowers for spring. Give others a freakin' hand. Rolls eyes.
BOOCOPTER! NEXT!
No "REAL" players would ever sign up for the show. DC is all about keeping your mouth shut and nobody with any real juice would EVER go on a show like that, it would kill their working relationships here. It will just be a bunch of loudmouth wannabees that think because they can afford to pay off the minimum balance on their Lord and Taylor card that they are movers and shakers.
I LIVE IN DC!! IT IS ABOUT TIME!!!!! EVERYONE AT WORK ALWAYS SAYS THEY SHOULD COME HERE!!!! WOOOO HOOOOO!!!!
YAY DC. I live here and its about time. Been waiting for the Real World to come here but ill take the housewives too.
Oh lord . . . we've been talking about this all morning. No one, repeat no one of power would EVER let a camera crew follow them around. NO ONE.
-
No embassy wife, no high politician's wife, no lawyer's wife (we can't talk about work, let ALONE on camera), No one from the Pentagon, IMF, World Bank. No camera would EVER been allowed into one of the power dinner parties.
-
I'm embarrassed already - who on earth are they going to get? Our best bet is the wife of one of the professional sports team or the owner's wife, some restauranteur's wife, or . . . someone divorcing their lawyer husband - and then they'll get sued to the gills if they talk smack about the attorney.
-
At best, some cheesy Outside-of-The-Beltway lobbyists wife.
-
folks, if you watch it — if its not Potomac MD, Arlington VA, or Washington DC - i.e., if they live in the 'burbs, it doesn't count. That's not DC.
-
Now I know those other shows are a poor representation - no one, but NO ONE would ever do this.
Re: Spindoc – I TOTALLY AGREE WITH YOU !!!
-
No "real" power person would EVER do this.
Re: @v@ – O.K. I'm over my rant and am back to normal. Gossip away.
screw d.c. women the real entertainment is those Potomac wives…so much money and they are all so hyper, thats a show i know people would watch.
i hope they keep it real housewives of DC and dont make it about montgomery county
Re: LULU~* –
EXACTLY!!!
Re: that_ll_do_PIGrez – Bethesda is NOT DC darling, and if you live here, you know that.
-
Power is what rules in DC, not dollars.
-
Rephrasing myself - not exactly "power" - but "powerful influence" is probably what ranks highest in DC.
Great idea! That can have pretentious mannequins like Cindy McCain and witches (rhymes with bitches) like Sarah Palin! Should be funny!
They need to do Real Housewives of Miami, who better? Gold Diggers, TONS of plastic surgery, really sexy people, drma…what more can one ask for?
Re: that_ll_do_PIGrez – I was only thinking NoVa - VERY close, i.e. Arlington because so many politicians live there and its actually closer to downtown NW than NE, SE or SW Washington DC.
-
But I concur - its DC, and Potomac - or zippo. Bethesda? Land of the wannabe's - car dealerships, over-priced shopping and pretend out of towners. Not DC mentality at all. And Arlington, despite the politicans, doesn't cut it.
I think they need to check out the women in Islesworth, Florida! Jaqueline Siegel and her husband are building the largest home in America there! She would probably die to do something like RH!!
they need a Real Housewives of Miami I would be the 1st to sign up
Re: SWEETPIECE! – man, I'm on this particular blog too much - Cindy and that insipid Wasilla Hillbilly don't live here.
-
No wife of any high level politican would EVER do this. No one with any real standing would EVER do it.
-
I feel so badly for the other cities now - I can imagine how embarrassed they are.
7 of the 10 richest counties in the US are in the DC area…
In case you're interested, they are
VA: Fairfax, Loudoun, Stafford, Prince William
MD: Howard, Montgomery, Calvert
NJ: Morris
CO: Douglas
NY: Putnam
And the purpose of my post is……. it's a good area for a show like Real Housewives, which likes to flaunt the riches
YAWWWWWN! D.C. sucks
Re: carolineyy –
Twat
Re: that_ll_do_PIGrez – No, dollar does not equal power. While many of the powerfully influentially are wealthy, lots of classless people do have cash around DC - and they stick out like sore thumbs.
-
People who have class and money in DC rarely flaunt it. Its put into a trust for children and grandchildren - not into shopping the local malls.
-
I think intellect and job position - as boring as that is - drives DC a lot more.
-
People who don't understand that - and are interested in dollars only do tend to live in the outerlying counties - and truthfully, while we certainly don't dislike them, they are considered out of the inner circle.
-
Its just like either you live in Manhattan or you don't - the outer lying area of NY - hugely wealthy - just aren't the same.
Re: that_ll_do_PIGrez – Most political PACs are in Arlington, and that's where Obama and Biden went for lunch a few weeks back.
-
Potomac equals class. You are right, Arlington does not, and neither does Bethesda and certainly not Chevy Chase (plastic surgery haven in the area).
Sorry, me again - this is from another blog - lots of chatter about this around here:
-
"Nobody with any clout in DC would sign up for this show. NO Senior Lobbyist from Aiken Gump, or Alcalde and Fay, and no senior employee of Booze Allen, much LESS a political staffer is going to sign up for this show. They would lose any chance to work with people. It will be a bunch of angry people from Bethesda whos husbands work in Sales or the banking industry"
-
(those weird names of companies are law firms - which is what DC predominently is - lawyers and politicians - we are boring around here, without a doubt . . . )
Re: Victoria NYC – I swear, we are boring. We talk politics, news events. Honest, if you're not into it, we ARE boring.
Re: that_ll_do_PIGrez – I don't know what you have against Arlington… clearly your home estimate price is an uber exaggeration… home prices in DC way out to Loudon County are still MUCH higher than 50k… but Arlington is known for 20somethings more than housewives, so it's a non-issue
i'm from dc, and there's no high fashion here, even among the wealthy! it's so conservative: these women on the show will prob look like they just raided a brook's brothers! maybe this show will give some peeps a good excuse for a makeover.
i grew up in potomac, lived in dc, and now live in (gasp!) arlington. there's money everywhere. potomac is for serious soccer moms who drag their kids around to a million (expensive) extracurriculars- riding lessons, music classes, private tutors, bla bla bla. arlington is more for young couples starting out on their first home, and they'll shell out at least $600 k for a dump. dc- meh. there aren't many art galleries here AT ALL, so i don't know what the ad was talking about. fundraisers, galas, embassy dinners, all that stuff is open to anyone with cash.
GOOD! I thought NJ was just tacky women.
I want them to do one for Dallas. now THAT would be fun to watch
Re: that_ll_do_PIGrez – 50k is not close to the reality, that's why i corrected you…. and the rest of your post doesn't make sense. try not to get so worked up about this.. we're on perezhilton talking about a reality tv show
they should do the next one in london or paris. that would be cool.
Chicago!!! Or Miami
Re: that_ll_do_PIGrez – i was talking about dc. the dc art scene is shit. actually, there is no dc art scene.
Re: that_ll_do_PIGrez – honey, you don't know your real estate.
Re: that_ll_do_PIGrez – Guessing you live in Bethesda & want to defend it. Sorry, its a very nice area, but its young, TGI Fridays/that "blooming onion" chain restaurant /carbon copy-type mall and new-build apartments. C'mon. Its Bethesda.
-
Maybe its changed but it is not "DC establishment." And NEITHER is Arlington - I was just always startled how many politicans live there for being kind of so-so.
-
But all this is for naught - they'll never get anyone remotely close to a power house on that show. Some wanna-be sales-type person, but no true DC personality would EVER be part of it.
-
But then, neither is Arlington - I was just startled when I lived there re how many politicans I saw in grocery store, in line at the drug store or gas station, etc. But someone above is exactly right - Arlington has really turned into 20-somethings haven.
DC is DC, and that's it. Maryland and Virigina have uniquely different "flavors" and neither is DC.
Re: feak a leak – I agree with you entirely - Art Scene in DC is non-existant.
The need to do a real housewives of the ghetto! see how real people live. how we struggle just to get by and are happy with the true blessings we have. LOL
Re: LULU~* – 33 I know honey! Just having fun! Enjoying your posts as always, SP!
this madness needs to stop! this show is about a bunch of washed up prostitutes from different cities who managed to find a man to support them.
I live in D.C… the people here are WAY to classy to want to go on that show, lol
I gotta chime in with this b/c I'm a native Washingtonian. While it's a great idea for Bravo to want to highlight DC women on the inside track, these women probably haven't heard of or seen the show, nor would they want to be followed by cameras. I'm proud to live somewhere where being intelligent and working in government policy is more coveted than the newest Dior sunglasses. Bravo would do DC a HUGE disservice if they went after the materialistic, ignorant, rich women, because they aren't what makes DC, DC.
I've never watched the shows, but, um… I don't think you're going to have luck around here if you limit yourself to the District of Columbia. We've got plenty of vain, crazy, moneyed bitches… but they aren't TV-trainwreck interesting.
Come on, I wish they would make a show about REAL housewives instead of all these bitches drowning in money. I never see them with a vacuum in their hands, up to their ears in laundry, etc. All these bitches do is spend money and backstab. Go to Littletown, USA and check on some REAL women.
I'll still watch though, I'm a sucker for the drama.
ew, VOMIT. the head honcho over at Bravo should be shot for this series. it really needs to end.
everyone's right about genuinely powerful and connected DC "housewives" being unwilling to participate in such a show. what you'll end up getting is a bunch of attention hungry soccer moms with nothing better to do.
as far as these powerful neighborhoods and where these housewives come from - who the hell cares? plenty of people with money who work in DC live outside of DC. you'll find the rich and powerful off of Foxhall in Georgetown, on the Hill, Dupont, Logan Circle, in Potomac, Bethesda, McLean and Fairfax.
why all the Arlington hate? the movers and shakers don't live in arlington, but they do have meetings there often i'm sure. may not be bethesda, but come on - it's not a shithole. get over yourself
clearly not many people having stupid fights about this are even from the dc area… northern va (fairfax county) is "shit"?….clearly you've never been to mclean or great falls. fairfax county has the second highest per capita income in the county… and yes there are actually real "important" dc people that live in the suburbs (like 10-15 min outside the city)…dick cheney (as much as i dont care for him) and colin powell live down the street from me in MCLEAN.
OMg- When are they gonna get serious and do a Real Housewives of Miami?!?! It is All about being fabulous down here. Get it together Bravo
Re: laxgirl3 – Agree - McLean should be on the list. Doesn't Ted Kennedy have a house nearby as well?
-
Whatever the case — no one who is "real" will do this show. Anyone with a snowball's chance in hell of ever getting invited to an important event would EVER risk that kind of cheesy exposure.
-
Its an intellectual city, and while there is money, its not flashed around.
-
My pearls are all but welded to my neck, I shop at Brooks Brother and Anne Klein, a spray tan would look more than bizarre around our pasty skin.
-
C'mon - we consider the Scripts Annual Spelling Bee (last night) to be the equivalent of the Olympics and actually get together to watch it. We won't admit it, but most still watch "Its Academic" on Sat. a.m., and Jeopardy. We not terribly interesting unless you are into that.
-
Summing up DC - overheard in a bar, one guy to his college friend "If I ever run for office, my association with you is going to haunt me." That's DC.
I love all the Real Housewives series. Each season gets better and better! Those Jersey wives are cracking me up currently and Caroline is my favorite.
Re: LULU~* – um, excuse me, but NO. you sound like a huge loser. waking up early on saturdays to watch ITS ACADEMIC?? ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME??
um, although my pearls are welded to my neck, and i may go to the best country club in dc (obvi chevy), i definitely dont have parties for a fucking spelling bee, or even watch it at all.
let me clarify: YOU ARE A HUGE LOSER.
heres what dc is, since you obviously completely missed out:
d.c. is georgetown in the summer at night, d.c. is bringing friends to the club for drinks, d.c. is summer homes in easton.
d.c. is parties with mint juleps, concerts at wolf trap in the summer or even at (GASP!) 9:30 club or black cat, brunches at clyde's, the easter egg hunt as a child at the white house
d.c. is the cherry blossom festival, summers spent at tennis lessons, diving club and swim team, and then golf when you get older.
d.c. is sneaking alcohol into preakness, and the bus ride there and the way back.
d.c. is dancing school lessons, preferably mrs. simpsons, and summer internships for a friend of the family who happens to be a congressman or governor.
SPELLING BEE PARTIES fits nowhere in there . . . sorry.
proving my point that you dont know d.c., and if you lived in nyc, im guessing you wouldnt know that city either, unless new york is jeaopardy parties every night, lol
