I don't think it's shameful to say that children need mommies and daddies, but whatever. There are worse things she could have said….

Strengthened civil unions- for gay and straight couples- sanctioned by the state are the way to go. Gay couples should have the same rights that heterosexual couples have. It just shouldn't be called "marriage". The state should have nothing to do with "marriage", just rights of partners.

Maggie musta' fell down the rabbits hole, and is still living in a made up world. Here's a fact for you missy: I worked in the 2 year old room at a day care center. There were 16 kids in our room, and 16 in the adjoining room. Out of the 32 kids I observed, there were only 2 kids that were stable, knew how to communicate and were respectful. One little boy was parented by a set of heterosexual parents that were well educated, had only him, and obviously waited to start their family until they were older. The other child was a little girl from the classroom next door. Her parents were 2 women, and they adopted her from China. Again, educated parents that wanted a child, and they did a great job with her. What we need to set as tradition, foundation AND future is that every child brought into this world should be wanted by parents that truly past being selfish, self-indulgent, assholes. All children DESERVE an equal start in life, but since our world sucks and God is no where to be found, then at least let people that want to be with each other marry (regardless of sex) and create the family unit that they desire.

Its not a victory for the children, for civil rights, and the common good. How is it doing "good" if its not allowing gays to live their life and get married. Everyone should be allowed to get married. Equal rights for all! They can't say this a country of freedom, oh but you have to follow the rules? SERIOUSLY!
