I don't like how people make it seem that if someone voted yes on 8 means that they are homophobic. That is wrong. People voted yes on 8 for other reasons. Many of them believe in civil unions and to be given the same equality as a straight couple but without the word marriage. That is fair and is the only way it would be considered. The term marriage has been messed up so badly and with gay marriage it would open up so many other ideas. I think YES on 8 believes more in civil unions and the equality of a straight marriage.

The only inequality that gays are suffering is the federal recognition of Domestic Partnership laws. Calling it "marriage" is never going to change that. If the battle stays in California, you are only battling over a word, not rights.

I'm a 14 year old straight female and I think this is so horrible that this is going on. It really makes me sad how people who love each other aren't allowed to marry. We are all human beings and to think that we don't have equal rights sickens me. I don't understand why people are against gays, it's not like people are making you gay. And if it gets to the point where kids are killing themselves because they aren't allowed and accepted in there society is really just sad. It's inhuman to me. I just don't understand some people.

Honestly, no one can tell anyone who to love… especially not the government!!!

We are fighting a war across the world to fight torture & the loss of loved ones… The truth is, the very same torture is happening in our very own country. People are being told whom they can and cannot love. They are being ripped of the rights to marriage & family… It's not right and IT NEEDS TO STOP!

I guarantee that everyone has experienced love in some form or another… it’s not about your particular sexual orientation or even your views of it- it’s about EQUALITY, & JUSTICE FOR ALL- SEPARATION OF CHURCH & STATE- and FUCKING COMMON SENSE!!!!

The results of this Prop 8 decision are wrong & hurtful… I’m straight, and furious!!!! If I am this riled up about it, I can’t begin to imagine how GLB’s are feeling…

It’s not enough to let them fight for themselves… EVERYONE needs to start showing their support for the GLB community!!!

Like Sophia Bush has said “One day our children will look back at this and feel just as discussed as we do about civil rights, and woman’s rights.”

People who are whining about those of us who are fighting for equality and basic human rights for ALL people need to study history. If we sat around and "waited" for change to come or if we allowed the majority of the time to "vote", women wouldn't have the right to vote; we would still own slaves; blacks and whites would drink from different fountains; different races wouldn't be able to marry. Prop 8 is UNCONSTITUTIONAL. Period.

And civil unions are NOT the same thing as marriage. Not in practice and not in the eyes of most people.

As far as the other issues go- i am constantly asking people to get behind these issues…. i'm a green activist, who thinks we should should be spending our government money on eco-friendly alternatives that will help preserve our economy, instead spending that budget on war and distruction!

people need to re-learn how to SPREAD LOVE NOT HATRED! Look at the world around us. There is (and has been) too much hatred happening. We do not need anymore. Especially during the economic down time, family & friends mean more then ever! Why should we take away the rights to love & prosper?!
