Even if gay marriage became legal you are already disregarding immigration laws to suit you OWN needs and yes I would prefer to see the people in my community living in homes and putting food on their childrens' plates more than Tom & Harry or Jen & Jill walk down the aisle. If so, then you should have done your research because he had already come out on the record saying he believed marriage was between a man and a woman. This is something that must come about by a constitutional amendment. that is how we ended slavery, prohibition, gave women voting rights, etc. If you devoted more of your time reading history books, you would know this is the only solution. Whether or not there are other things to worry about in our country, I REALLY don't think saying it's "not the right time" is a good answer. If you relate the same stuff to your own life, and I said oh, lady you have to wait. Oh sir you can wait. It sounds kinda dumb. If there is other stuff to worry about then just pass the shit cuz im tired of talking about it. While I dont think this is or ever will be Obama's top priority, I did vote for him. I read your time interview and this is one of those times you are going to have to say you may have been mistaken. According to Politico and a transcript he was not aware fo what protests that were happening, since Code Pink and Answer were also protesting. I cannot find the actual video but here is the transcript I noticed on DailyKos. What he was saying in essence was "good let them keep my feet to the fire, I like people being involved" So might one you are incorrect and you should probably back track on this ever so slightly. It has been all over the blogosphere this morning that CP and Answer were there protesting Iraq and Afghanistan.

There were some protesters out here. I could hear them-vaguely. I don't know what they were protesting. I think there was a group of them. But one of them started to chant "Obama, keep your promise" and I thought, that's fair. I don't know which promise that he was talking about. But I thought to myself, you know, I like that.

However I did have a bit of a problem with the part about no one would chose to be gay. I think being gay is just the way some folk are born. Most gay folk probably couldn't imagine being straight anymore than you could imagine being white or asian. I think a lot would chose to stay gay if they had the chance.

I have a gay friend and he is all in for his gay rights and all but he told me it would be an asshole of Obama if he doesn't fix the economy first. My friend lost his job and he is literally living on tofu now. He said his rights could come later when opposed that he is jobless now. I feel that you guys do this campaign where obviously the money could be invested and a friend of the gay community could be helped.

President Obama is doing a phenomenal job thus far in office. He walked into a mess and, in an incredibly short time, he has done some amazing things. It is sad that we glob onto TWO comments he made that were insensitive, instead of focusing on the positive. Not to mention, he rather promptly apologized for that 1st comment. Can we give this man a break? He cant change everything as urgently as we would like, but please try to remain positive. We have an amazing leader in office now after an eight year nightmare. I know that gay marriage is an urgent matter to many, but President Obama is contending with a failing economy, a war, terrorism issues, the environment, healthcare, education … to name a few. So please stop with the negativity and be grateful to have a man in office who actually does care, and who really has the potential to do great things for this country.
