Cowboy John Rich Charged With Assault

These country singers don't mess around!
Country singer John Rich, of the duo Big & Rich, has turned himself in to Nashville police to face the charges filed by a former contestant on Nashville Star, Jared Ashley.
The singer was charged with two misdemeanor counts of assault and one misdemeanor count of harassment.
This doesn't really help the guy as Rich sued Ashley last April for falsely accusing Rich of hitting Ashley in the face. Rich turned down a settlement of $2.9 million and wanted to bring the case to trial.
Good job, buddy!
Now, you've got no case and no $3 million.

A lot of people don't know that the fight started over who had the bigger double wide and whose mother could spit tobacco the furthest.
As soon as he was tipped about his arrest warrants he went to Europe and had to be coaxed to come back to Nashville so he could be out of jail in time to attend the CMA's. Hope his homophobic ass finally gets the meaning of "don't ride a horse ride a cowboy". Quite a few musicians here are joking that they are going to purposely get arrested this weekend so they can get even with him.

Listen, this is a case of a little known musician trying to get rich quick. I went to school with this guy's cousin, and the whole family would sue anybody to make money . The father used to walk around for about two years in a neckbrace and pictures of the "car accident" where this happened. Wore a fake rolex, hid from repo men. Real Classy. Trust me, it runs in the family. There are pictures of the cousin with Jared Ashley at Big and Rich's house. They are going for the scam. Trust me.

He still has a case. Anyone can fill assault charges up to one year after an alleged assault. If fact misdemeanor assault means no law enforcement was present or investigation was performed but rather one citizen filed a complaint against another. The charges are simply a legal tactic to strengthen a legal position. If or when he is acquitted of the criminal charges, Rich's legal case get stronger and can ask for increased damages. If the DA or a Judge finds no cause for a case or concludes Ashley is lying, criminal charges can be filed against Ashley for filing a false police report and/or perjury.

I'm a pseudo Nashvillian (I live about 45 minutes north in KY, but I'm in Nashville A LOT) and I can tell you that this man has a horrid reputation about town. Obviously he's been in Nashville longer than he's been famous, and over the years he's made quite a few enemies. Of course, we in the Nashville gay community can't stand the homophobic dick, so any bad news for him is good news for us.
