I signed up for this blog for one reason only: to correct your usage of gratuitous.

Merriam-Webster defines it as such:
1: a. giving unearned of without recompense, b. not involving a return benefit, compensation, or consideration, and c. costing nothing: free
2: not called for by the circumstances: unwarranted

What about any of these posts involves the celebrity not getting a return benefit for what they've done??? I'm sure Cate got paid to do the spread in In Style, and I'm also sure that the spread was called for by the circumstances (obviously, for the editors would not have included it if it wasn't).

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE use a different word with these posts or - at the very least - explain why you persist in using the word incorrectly…

That might be true if it were Cate that put this story on the blog, but it wasn't it was perez.
And in that case since it was Perez it would be right, posting her just because she is beautiful isn't gaining him anything. It is not gossip which is what his blog is for and what he gets paid for.
