Brandy Pays Off Victim's Family

'90s singer Brandy has finally reached a settlement with the children of the woman she killed in the fatal car crash of 2006.
The singer had crashed her Range Rover into the woman's car at the intersection of the 101 and 405 freeways in L.A.
The victim's two children will receive a total of $600,000 combined, according to court documents filed in L.A. County Superior Court.
However, their father has yet to settle with the singer, after rejecting a sum of 1.2 million dollars back in February.
No matter how much she pays, though, can't bring that life back!

No, you can't bring back a life. But this was an accident. She wasn't drunk. She hadn't been weaving through traffic recklessly. It was a horribly unfortunate accident. The family wouldn't have been sue-happy if a part-time school teacher had been at the wheel.

You can't bring a life back but all I've been hearing since the accident is the victims family suing for money and not being satisfied because they want a lot of $$$$money$$$. From the looks of it Brandy tried to get this settled as soon as possible but its the husband who keep restraining with his greed. If it were a normal citizen I doubt he would be suing mad. Oh! by the way the only one's that win in this are the lawyers because they're the one's that take a big chunk of the pie no matter what side they're on they always win.

The accident wasn't entirely Brandy's fault - like everyone else said, this could've happened to anyone. If she wasn't a celebrity, the victim's family probably would've settled with the insurance company instead of suing her.
That doesn't sound right to me. The woman who died is the one who caused the accident, when SHE crashed into the car in front of her and then slammed on her breaks. True, Brandy was following too close and didn't have enough time to stop when the woman in front of her stopped, but it's not like the other woman wasn't at fault because she too was driving recklessly. I wonder if the occupant of the car that was was hit by the dead woman will turn around and sue the dead woman's family, too. They should, since they're getting all this money from Brandy.

It was an accident! she wasn't driving reckless or drinking…and some of the blame was put on the victim herself..i think the father is just being greedy and dragging this on is getting ridiculous!

Perez you should really be more sympathetic towards Brandy. Yes sadly she killed someone, but that is something she has to live with for the rest of her life. the police dept didnt press charges because they ruled she was not at fault and closed the investigation… why does she still gave to pay them in a civil suit … sometimes things are just accidents!!!

Re: Kasey19 – From what CHP stated she was at fault, but the accident was a fender bender per say, they were in traffic, Brandy did not stop in time, she hit the lady, and the lady freaked out and instead of hitting the breaks, she hit the gas and ended up in the wrong side of traffic eventually getting hit by a type of delivery truck, thats what killed her not brandy….. she freakrd and lost control, though also that lady hit the car in front of her before ending up on the other side of the freeway! But Brandy was the last car and by Ca law she is at fault!
Re: Luvd80s2 – disregard my last post, here's the facts, Brandy, 27, was driving a Land Rover on Interstate 405 on Dec. 30 when traffic slowed and her vehicle struck the back of Honda driven by Awatef Aboudihaj, 38, according to a CHP report.
Aboudihaj’s car hit another vehicle, slid sideways into the center divider and was then hit by another car, the report said. Aboudihaj, a Los Angeles waitress, died at a hospital from blunt-force injuries, according to the coroner’s office. Sorry guys If I got my story wrong, but i swear I heard the lady went into wrong side of the freeway.

That's ridiculous. I feel bad that the woman was killed, but really, if a non-celebrity had been behind the wheel, they wouldn't be asking for that much money. In my opinion, they shouldn't be asking for any money at all, except maybe to pay for medical care and funeral costs. People are so money obsessed they'll even try to profit on a loved one's death! Disgusting that people will sink so low, it was an ACCIDENT.
I feel bad for Brandy. If she wasn't famous they wouldn't be trying to take every last penny she has. It's not like she's made music recently… She's probably going broke over this. Not to mention she has to live with the guilt every day.
