It seems that Bruno's bare ass brings in the voyeurs viewers!
According to the Nielson ratings, the 2009 MTV Movie Awards delivered a 4.8 rating for people ages 12-34, which means 5.3 million people tuned in for the show. By itself that's not very impressive. But….
Viewership was up 78% from last year and MTV's largest audience in 5 years!
The Movie Awards even garnered a larger audience than the 2008 VMAs, which featured the highly anticipated Britney "comeback"!!!!!
Unbelievable!
Nudity + Confrontation = HUGE Ratings!!!!!!
P.S. We also think Robert Pattinson and the premiere of the New Moon trailer also had a lot to do with the show's success.

im pretty sure that the twilight cast (pattinson mostly) and the new moon trailer were the major reasons that so many ppl watched…i havent watched anything mtv in years, and the trailer was the only reason i watched…im sure that next years awards will most likely be twi-dominated next year also…

His bare ass wasn't the reason they tuned in, the viewers didn't know that was gonna happen, they tuned in because of Twilight, you only watched to see all the underage boys.
the only reson i watched it was because of twilight stuff on there the rest was pretty annoying like theexplotion song thing… it could have been done in a hour with out all the faffin round

I think it has EVERYTHING to do with the New Moon sneak peak and nothing to do with Bruno

Bruno was true to form, and his behavior was silly at best. Someone SHOULD tell SBC that Andy Kaufmen's already been there and done that.
people did not know that would happen, so it was simply because Em's comeback! (and a little bit of new moon). He was away for 4 years. so it makes sense that rating is the largest in 5 years.

AGREED. i never watch the VMAs but the only reason i did this year was to see the new moon trailer and RPatz, and i was NOOOOT disappointed!!

The HOST, Andy WAS AND IS AMAZING.. Hope he continiu to do what he does and comeback next year, THE SORTFIRMS was insane, Will Ferrell, Jim Carey, and others make that show..and ROB PAT of course..ahh… and the nerviousiness or drunkiness of Bella, WTF happens to her?

People didn't tune into to see Bruno…it wasn't an advertised gag. They knew about that AFTER the show had happened. The ratings were high because of Twilight and its rabid following.

There was alot that was funny and some crap also on the show…..R-Pattz is the reason I watched……I didn't know anything about Bruno.

No one tuned in to watch it because of Bruno - they didn't know that was going to happen before the show, they had already decided to watch it. Most likely because they knew it would be nothing but one big Twilight/High School Musical fuckfest like it was, which sucks because now MTV will go totally overboard as usual and every award show from now on will honor the clown being screamed at the most by the 12-year-olds of the moment.
They had actually become a major award show but this just set them back 10 years as far as being taken as a true respectable award. When Zac Efron wins an award over an Oscar winner? Come on….
i dont watch MTV ever but made an exception because Rpattz was there. and the new moon trailer also.

My highlight was definitely when Kristen Stewart dropped her award! She handled it terribly!
If she's so determined to be viewed as more then just a celebrity, she shouldn't have let that get to her so much! Game face!! I can't believe she even avoided the mic when Twilight won best movie, very tacky! She needs to grow up! And stop being an obnoxious, selfish teenager.. I mean isn't twilight like a coming of age story?? She probably let down a lot of fans who truly relate to that character.. She's doesn't deserve the attention she gets.

I know that's the only reason I watched. Also because of Rob and New Moon alittle bit but mainly for Eminem and I'm sure there are many people who tuned in for him too. Just admit it Eminem is back and people still love him, you're worst nightmare has come true!!!!! Hahahahahahahahaha

I watched for Andy Samberg. And at least "Bruno's" ass was hot, not pimply and hairy like Howard Stern's when he flew in on some MTV something or another.
MTV is the bottom of the barrel tastewise, though. Just like the Billboard top 10. Atrocious. But I'm an adult, so I'm not supposed to enjoy these things.

but it only came it at 8 it had hard competition i am surpised mit even got in the top ten
idk the only reason i watched the awards was to see robert pattinson thaats it!&& of coursee to see the cast win most of the awards they were nominated for. fyi:the only award they did not win was for best song..&& that has really nothin to do wit the cast or the movie so whatever..twilightt and the new moon premier dominatedd the ratings everyonee knows that come on that is why they started with best fight which they onee and ended wit best movie which they won!&& in between was twilightt also..COME ON! everyonee tuned in to see the new moon trailer no doubt about it.
