John Travolta Opts Not To Attend Premiere

It's been about six months since John Travolta lost his young son, but the actor is still dealing with tremendous grief. So much so that he and his wife Kelly Preston were noticeably absent from the premiere of his new movie, The Taking of Pelham 123.
His co-star, Denzel Washington, was asked about his abscence and he explained John just isn't ready for the spotlight.
"I talked to John (recently). Needless to say, he's struggling. He's struggling. More than talking to him, I listened to him, for about two or three hours. It's going to take time. What can you say but just be there as a friend? He's such a sweet, sweet person."
So sad.
We really hope the entire Travolta family is finding ways to cope during this difficult time.

A lot of folks seem to have made a profession of making fun of JT. I have always found him to be an endearing entertainer who lets us in on the joke. What he is now going through is probably about the toughest thing someone goes through. I can only wish him the best.

It's horrible that a young man is dead. That's who I feel sorry for. The reason John Travolta is so torn up is that he knows he has responsibility in what happened. Jet Travolta suffered from FREQUENT SEVERE seizures yet he died on no medication. There is simply no excuse for this, Scientologist or not. Anyone whose child dies because he is denied the right to medication because of a parents religious, cult, or spiritual beliefs should be in jail, period.

Last time I checked Michael Jackson made the Guiness Book of World Records for being the most charitable pop star and he's done far more than 50 Denzel's in that respect yet I have yet to hear one person mention that on a blog. Charitable people don't do it to fish for compliments, they do it because they care and don't expect anything in return.
They should have gotten him proper treatment for his condition. It is unfortunate that he is not alive. He was so young.

through all the grief I hope he is snapping out of his scientology induced denial … by choosing a wackjob religious group he essentially let his son die by not treating him properly…and I don't care what religion you are if you deny your child or who they are you are asking for bad karma… I don't say this as a hater…I love john and want him to come back to reality… noone is fooled by any of this and he would be respected by coming out and saying all the truths…
he has been self-indulgent long enough, wallowing in his sorrow. He is being selfish to his wife and daughter. Locking himself away on vacations, acting like he was the ONLY one who is in pain. Grow up Buddy or see a Doctor, get some guidance and medicine if you need it.

Losing a child, no matter what age would be such a horrible struggle.
Under any circumstances it would be terrible to emotionally deal with.

Remember the parents that had to go to court because they refused to keep the chemo to their cancer striken son? The judge ruled against the parents to save their son's life.
The Travoltas, in the name of religion, stopped giving their son the medication that could have said his life. But the Travoltas are famous, they are rich and no court or lawyer will interfere to save their son from them. Now their son is dead.
John is a good man, maybe he can't live with the fact that his religion and his decision to stop treatment killed his son.

Regarding Denzel Washington, I admire and love that man. He is not only a great actor, but a fantastic human being. He can do not wrong in my eyes.- He is a class act…And his picture is in my fridge, together with Fellini, Einstein and a couple of wonderful people who contributed to make this world a better better.-
Wish him and Travolta the best in this movie.
Parents should NEVER have to bury their children!!! And when something like that happens, it always takes time to grieve.
I am sure he and his family are still completely devastated. If I lost one of my kids, I would lose my will to live. I don't know how a parent ever moves on from that kind of loss.
I can't imagine what John is going thru!! I have 4 brats and losing one of them would not be a good thing.

I hope that John and are his wife are not feeling depressed about the death of their son because their facocta 'religion' would not permit them the use of antidepressant medication. According to Scientology, depression can be overcome through dietary supplements, exercise and exposure to sunlight. Hope that works for you Mr. & Mrs. T.

The religion says nothing against medication for ailments such as seizures. You can certainly suffer from seizures while on medication for it. Quit speculating and assuming.
