Colbert Shaves Head For Troops!

| Filed under: TV NewsStephen Colbert

During the first episode of filming The Colbert Report in Iraq, titled Operation Iraqi Stephen: Going Commando, Stephen Colbert sacrificed his hair for the troops.

The host wore a camouflage suit and tie as his first guest, Gen. Ray Odierno, accepted a video message from President Obama to shave Colbert's head.

The purpose of this show was to bring attention to the six year war which has been overshadowed by economic news.

Colbert even poked fun of the troops by saying, "It must be nice here in Iraq because I understand some of you keep coming back again and again. You've earned so many frequent flyer miles, you've earned a free ticket to Afghanistan."

The Colbert Report's trip to Iraq marks the first time anyone has broadcast a taped show from a tour in order to entertain U.S. troops.

Congrats, Stephen!

Mission accomplished!

Could you fix the picture or are you to busy with your coying & pasting?

  4. 4

Bet he looks hot with a shaved head!

I may not support the war but I do support the troops. I think realty stars like Jon and Kate need to step out of their own so-called problems for a minutes and realize how good thier life really is and what others who are on the front lines everyday and those who live in areas like Iraq and Afaghanistan face every day just to live maybe they would stop complaining and wake up to what really matters. There are those across the world right now who would give anything to have thier biggest problem be people wanting to take their picture - ask those whose child was kidnapped or murdere or died of a terminal disease or who through no fault of their own have lost everything they own. Good post Perez now someone send a tape of Oprah's show on the troops in rehab to Jon and Kate and maybe they'll grow up.

Wow! I must say I'm a little proud of Stephen for bringing light into this problem about our troops serving our country. I myself like some other people might not agree with the war we're in but at the end of the day our troops should be supported.

    god bless our troops :)

Glad Gen. Ray Odierno is on my side! Holy shit!

  16. 16

Good Lord! I love Mr. Colbert, but he looks eerily like Donald Rumsfeld in that picture. Actually, that's an even more happy thought….someone holding down Rummy for a shave. :)

    they look so devilish

Kathy Griffin did her show from Iraq as soon as it was cleared years ago. It wasn't close to safe. It's calmed a lot now. It's still very cool that he's there, but he wasn't the first or the only person to make the trip.

LUV HIM! That suit is dope! HA HA

  23. 23

loooove him! i bet the troops had a good time!

  24. 24

He has gorgeous locks. Probably the best in late night television. Can't wait to see him tho.

  25. 25

    Nooooo! Not the hair!

  26. 26

I'm probably the biggest Colbert fan out there. And though I'm also a fan of his luscious chocolatey brown locks, I'm beyond words of how proud of him I am right now. This hallmark occasion shows how much this country needs to put things in perspective and remember the troops and what they're doing to keep people safe. And as fangirl suit reporter for NFZ, I officially approve that sexy camoflage suit!!!! hot stuff!

  27. 27

thats not true. WWE goes to Iraq every year to entertain the troops and airs it on their shows. He is not the first show to go over there to broadcast a taped show.

  28. 28

um Kathy Griffin totally taped 2 episodes of her in Iraq entertaining the troops and broadcasted them…and you're "in" with her!!…

  29. 29

Re: Rtarara – Yeah, it has calmed down alot but it isn't safe. My husband lost one of his troops just a couple weeks ago. You just don't hear about the troops being killed anymore……

Re: heidi3thumbs – I'm so sorry for the loss. :( We've been so lucky so far, not to lose anyone in my husbands unit, but their have been losses in other units since the beginning of this year, one loss is still one too many, no two ways about it.

Iraq shouldn't be a source of comedy, even lame Colbert "comedy.
The situation there is a tragedy and a travesty. I wonder if the families of our 4,000 dead service members are laughing. How about the families of those seriously injured and maimed for life.

  32. 32

How exactly does one support the troops, but not the war? How do you support someone, but not support their cause? How do you support someone who puts their life in the line for something they believe in, but not support their beliefs? I don't understand this.

  33. 33

This was classic! Love Stephen Colbert

  34. 34

    Go Colbert! You rock!!
