Anne Hathaway Gears Up For Garland

Some time ago, we mentioned that Anne Hathaway will tackling one of her biggest roles to date: Judy Garland.
The actress is slated to portray the legend on not only the big screen, but the Great White Way too - in the production called Get Happy: The Life of Judy Garland. While she attended the Tony Awards this past Sunday, she talked about the overwhelming undertaking of playing Garland.
"I think I’m either naive or insane to play her — maybe a little bit of both," she says.
She also revealed that while she hasn't had the chance to speak to her yet, she feels a conversation with Liza Minnelli, daughter of Judy Garland, is an important step in understanding how to tackle the role.
“I haven’t had a chance to talk to her about it yet, but I understand that as long as I treat Judy with respect — which of course I will — Liza is very happy about it.”
We're pretty excited about this! We think she is a phenomenal choice, if she doesn't choke!

I WOULD GO SEE ANNE AS ANYTHING SHE CARES TO BE!!!! SHE IS A WONDERFUL ACTOR. THOUGHT LIZA SEEMED MORE LIKE SHE WAS DOING A REALLY BAD JUDY GARLAND IMPRESSION THAN SHE WAS BEING HERSELF.

As the biggest Judy Garland fan possibly on earth, I am really excited to see what they do with this. Anne is the best casting choice, now let's see how they adapt the great book!

Garland was already played to near perfection by Judy Davis and co in 'Me and my shadows'. I doubt Anne can beat that.
I would go see this movie even if they cast Mickey Rourke as Judy. lol I've been a Judy Garland fan for as long as I can remember. Actually right now I couldn't think of anyone who could play Judy any better than Hathaway. Cannot wait for this to comeout. It's about time.

Of course, Anne Hathaway, is drama royalty. But let us also not forget how JUDY DAVIS channelled, YES, channelled, MS GARLAND in the made for TV movie, which won her a coupla Golden Globes back in I believe 2000. AMAZING!!!!I

I'm loving her more and more. I've always loved Judy Garland have always been intrigued by her life, as I'm sure many others are too. I'm very excited to for Anne to be playing the part, I think she'll be amazing!
This is an amazing casting choice. I think Anne will do a remarkable job. She really is just such a class act. One of the best young women in Hollywood, in my opinion. Truly beautiful, inside and out.
I would see Anne Hathaway in almost anything, short of a clearly horrible chick-flick. She is a beautiful young woman who seems to really be working on expanding and growing her talent.

No. Anne Hathaway is way too tall to play Garland and she doesn't look anything like her…to me it's just not believable.

Anne Hathaway is almost a foot taller than Judy Garland was! There is no way she should be playing this role. Judy was tiny. Her voice was big. Anne is too big and gawky for this. I will definitely NOT be seeing it.

Sorry, but she's a VERY ODD CHOICE TO PLAY IMMORTAL JUDY ! Judy Davis did her justice in the TV MOVIE, but sorry, not Anne Hathaway. Too tall, for one thing……..and can she sing, or at least pretend to ?
