Dragonball Flop Spawns Sequel!

Although it made a measly $9 million in the U.S., Dragonball is getting a sequel!!!
Weird!
James Marsters, who played the villain Lord Piccolo in the first film, broke news of the sequel in an interview with a fansite.
Even Dragonball fan communities were less than thrilled with the news as the first movie blew hard!
Dragonball Evolution made $45 million abroad, mostly in Japan and China, with minimal advertising and no big names to star.
Supposedly, it is intended to make money since the budget is so small!
These people saw the first one to horrible reviews so what kind of cinema masochist comes back for more?!

I watched it for free online and then I wanted my hour and half back. How can they remake something so bad. Well it wasn't horrible, but it sure as hell was not DB…die hard fans should be dissappointed and should probably hold a rally about this at comic con. Seriously the only kinda big name was Emmy Rossum and I would much rather see her in a Phantom of The Opera Sequel than this.
I used to watch the show in English and French when I was younger. I wouldn't touch the movie; saw the trailer and it just shattered my youthful memories. A white Goku? What's the deal? Remakes and sequels have run wild. Come on, Michel Gondry, Paul Thomas Anderson, Wes Anderson, Sofia Coppola, other original talents, make a movie. Can't wait for Oscar season. There may be some crazy delicious films.

IT may not be a blockbuster, but if it didn't LOSE money, why not make a sequel. Not that I want to see that, but if they're making money, they're going to continue to churn out crap. Let's say the original cost 20 mil to make and it grossed worldwide $54,700,985. that's o34,770.985 in the bank. Not bad.

I saw the first movie, a bit apprehensive, but I really enjoyed it. I've been a DB/DBZ fan for years and the movie didn't disappoint me. I feel that the movie was handled fairly well and they stuck to the original manga story. Yes, things were changed but the base story was there. And considering that they had a low budget to begin with, I still think it was done well. Better than Twilight (I loved the book, but the movie was a bit of a let down).
And people complaining about a "white" Goku need to shut the fuck up! Goku WAS NOT ASIAN!!! HE'S A BLOODY ALIEN FOR CRYING OUT LOUD!!!!

its like a made up plot that by chance had the same name as the dragon ball z characters

Re: ashesdepp27 – This wasn't a DBZ movie. IT was based off of a story/plot for the DRAGONBALL series. NOT Dragonball "Z". There is a difference as the DB series is before DBZ.
This movie was made as a stepping stone to other great sequels.
It was never intended to be a blockbuster. It was intended to spawn great sequels. Although they could of done things better it did what they wanted.
Cant wait for the sequel.

I figured they'd do another one to try and redeem themselves here. I'm not sure why it made so much more overseas anyway. I didn't entertain seeing it as the previews turned me off. I'm not an uber fan but I grew up watching this show and felt it was an insult to both casual and super fans. And now there's more. Greaaat. :-/ Just what we need is another crappy movie fucking up the value of a good time at the theater. Yeesh. Just download.
