Simon Cowell is in negotiations with legendary film producer Robert Stigwood to obtain the rights to Saturday Night Fever for a remake!!!!

He wants Zac Efron to play the lead role of disco king, Tony Manero, originated by John Travolta.
News flash! Zefron does not want to do any more musicals!!!

Hip-hop producer Timbaland was tapped to rework the famous Bee-Gees soundtrack!

"Robert was keen to get some assurances the original wouldn't be completely butchered before he agreed to the deal," said a source.

This movie does not to be remade..it's good the way it is. Everytime a movie gets remade it usually sucks ass….and simon cowell in charge of it? oh god!

Oh, I really hope this isn't true or they don't go through with it. Disco was already mainstream and cliche by the time the first version of the movie was made…definitely played out by now. If it does get redone, Zac Efron is a terrible idea for the part. He's way too clean-cut and blah.

I'd rather Zefron did that footloose. I couldn't stay awake through that, at least I like Saturday Night Fever. But then again, I'd go to see it regardless of who was in it, because I love the first. But I suppose it doesn't need a remake, I am acutally amazed they haven't done Grease; all the half decent ones have been remade. And since when did Simon Cowell have experience in producing a musical? Stick to American Idol, Britain's got Talent and the x factor. It will fair a lot better!
No! One of my all time favorite movies. Except for the miscast Karen Lynn Gorney, it's perfect. What really made the film was the time period, it really captured the 70s. There is no way they can recreate it. I hope they don't even try.

I think it would be hot. Since when was "Saturday Night Fever" a musical? I thought a musical had singing in it. "Saturday Night Fever" had singing in it from The Bee Gees, but when did John Travolta sing the songs? Perez must be confused with another movie called "Grease" in which is a musical.
