The Howards And The Originals

Universal and Imagine will be producing The Originals, a dramatic script penned by actress Bryce Dallas Howard and writing partner Dane Charbeneau, which could serve as a directing platform for her father Ron Howard.

The writing of The Originals turned into a family affair and the production itself calls for an ensemble cast about "a group of twentysomethings who reconvene for a weekend in New York after learning that the teacher who shaped their childhoods has fallen into a mysterious coma."

Keeping it all in the family!

what's so friggin' mysterious about a coma. It be cooler if they were brought back together over the suicide of a shared teacher whom they all loved and respected. That leaves so many more unanswered questions.

Actually, my teachers wife committed suicide, she was the mother of his two young sons. She took sleeping pills and went into a church to die. After that we found out why she was so upset, because he was leaving her for another woman. This was a guy we all put on a pedestal. We were only thirteen and because my friends and I were in the science club, his wife regularly joined us and drove us to field trips and events. Watching the dynamic between the two of them, and that feeling of how you think you know people, but what goes on behind closed doors is so different. A couple years later, she was dead. My friends and I were a little older by then, and we came together to kind of digest what had happened. So it is possible to think you connect with a teacher, and when you grow older, kind of like with your heroes or your parents, you learn that all people are fallible.
