Sounds to me that the relationship is at the point where they both agree it is an "open" one. They can't even pretend to like each other on the new episodes. I think that even if they are separted he should show a little more respect towards his children, which means not being so public about his "relationship". It's almost as if he wants to rub his wife's face in it. His older kids are more than old enough to understand what's going on.
