What The Croc? PETA Responds

Earlier we mentioned how French luxury goods maker Hermes breeds their own crocodiles on Australian farms for the sole purpose of killing the crocs to make purses.
Not to mention that it can take three to four crocodiles to make one bag, which can sell for almost $50,000!
So we figured it was only a matter of time before PETA spoke out about the craziness of breeding crocodiles for fashion.
And, indeed, the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals has released a statement. The animal lovers say:
The thought of purposely breeding and killing crocodiles for an outdated, overpriced handbag should make any fashionista's skin crawl. If Hermes really wants to be a leader in the fashion industry, it should stop killing animals for cold-blooded vanity and use cruelty-free mock croc and fake snake instead.
As Pink—who recently provided the voice of a computer-generated crocodile in PETA's "Stolen for Fashion" commercial—says, "Killing animals for their skins is so disgusting that it doesn't make me want to befriend designers who use them."

Anyone who needs a crocodile bag from 3 animals to satiate their ego or status is sick and has problems far beyond their crocodile bag. No wonder our country is going to hell in a handbasket. If it is JUST for the skin and nothing else is used on the croc, then I'd have a problem… that would be like killing a cow only for the leather and throwing away all of the meat.

Sure… using their skin for overpriced, ugly purses is pretty fucking stupid, but I say so long as they're not wasting the rest of the crocodile… maybe donate the meat to be used in animal feed or if the people eat it, then donate it to be given to people… then I don't see ANY difference than farmers breeding cows or pigs or whatever else.
I would MUCH rather them farm raise/breed crocodiles than kill them in the wild.

I think that these PETA groups are so over the top.. i'm not saying that ppl should be killing animals for handbags ( that is stupid in my opinion) but PETA sticks there noses in everything.. they have changed laws that they think are helping animals but really they end up making it worse for them.. like outlawing horse slaughter in the U.S. now animal are shipped 4-5 days w/o water in cramped trailers that are suppose to be for pigs. not feed.. so they can send them to mexico where they don't have the same humane killing methods as the U.S. all b/c PETA didn't want horse slaughter in the U.S. … they don't realize they are making it worse.. I'm not saying that killing crocodiles for handbags is right.. but PETA needs to learn what effects they are going to have on these animals when they change laws like that..

Want to hear a story: My friend raises pigs for showing. Well one of their pigs broke its leg, and there is nothing you can do about a pig and a broken leg. Well the place where they normally have pigs slaughter will NOT do it, if the pig can not walk on its own, BECAUSE of PETA. So you are allowed to kill a pig that is perfectly fine, but to put one out of its misery is not acceptable?? PETA what a croc.

I;m not commenting on the PETA thing, but the prices. When are high-end stores going to realize the stupidity in charging 340.00 for a pair of boxers, or 400.00 for a polo shirt!? The can boast quality materials and workmanship, but a POLO or pair of boxer shorts would never in a million years be worth that much to me.
