DeVito Claims He Was "Acting"

Yesterday, we showed you a clip of a failed interview with Danny DeVito and a local Philadelphia morning show. Entertainment reporter Jenn Frederick went to interview DeVito and his costars live as they filmed scenes for It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
Unfortunately for her, the "professional" actor looked like he was wasted! DeVito did the interview while drinking from a "pretend" beer can, burping a few times, and acting odder than usual.
But now he's trying to cover it up by claiming he was just acting.
According to DeVito: “I was only trying to make a TV interview fun. In the scene the TV people were covering, my character was drinking (pretend beer). When you see the scene on the show — and buy the DVD! — you will understand. It’s called acting.”
What do U think? Was he just acting or was he drunk?

I think he was just acting to promote the show. He was behaving the same way his character "Frank" would on It's Always Sunny. I mean, think about it, mission accomplished, right? People are now talking about the show!

Well really all I have to say is- Sunny is NOT on Fox it is on FX. The girl messed that one up and no one corrected her, so I will.
Having grown up in Philly…and also realizing how he could be drunk on Lemoncello last time (it tastes fabulous!) — I think the burping/drinking may have been acting. But the 'easy access' comment or the birth comment were both a bit smarmy.

He is that good of an actor, and I'm sure in the context of the show, it will make sense. While I totally love It's Always Sunny, the show is kind of despicable.

HMMM….I could see him acting. I didn't think about it until now- his character on 'It's Always Sunny…' is ALWAYS a drunk hot mess. Maybe he was about to shoot a scene and was in character…or didn't want to give a normal interview.
Yeah I think it's fake, he acts like that all the time on the show, and his costars aren't acting at all surprised- seems like their egging him on.
I won't deny that he was wasted that one time on "The View", but this reeks of a set-up.

If you've seen Always Sunny, you would believe he's just acting. The show is so out there. However, so what if he was drunk? It fits with the show. If you're a viewer of the show, it takes a lot to offend you!

He probably was acting. I have seen many interview with the cast and they tend to play them as their characters. Kaitlin always is drinking and playing into the Sweet Dee character. It fits perfectly with the show.
