Ashley Greene and Nikki Reed of the Twilight cast have committed to quit smoking to provide better role models for their young fans.
Good!!!!!
According to a source, the girls "know they are role models for little kids… If there are a ton of paparazzi photos of them smoking, that's not a positive image."
The girls are using SmokeStiks to quit, which "look like those fake cigarettes actors use in plays," but contain no smoke or tobacco.
Which begs the question: How much does that actually help?

Jeez that heading had me scared before i scrolled down!
My sister used them to stop smoking. They make your head think that you're still getting what it always has from the ciggies. They have no flavor or anything, but when you smoke, it's such a habit, it's more that your brain craves it, than your body.

But I didn't know they smoked…. it's such a filthy disgusting habit. I'm all for personal decisions, but hearing that they smoke makes me sad. I hope they actually quit, but I have a feeling that it might just be a temporary thing… a reason like "quitting for the fans" may be admirable but one day the twilight thing will die down and they will no longer have to serve as role models. What then? Is it puff city after that?

I didn't realize Ashley Greene smoked. I thought she was one of the few non-smokers in the cast. I have never seen a picture of her smoking and some of the other gossip sites which tend to be fairly reliable say she is a nonsmoker. So are you sure she smokes?

Totally different. Someone tell him that when you have ghost writers that the penmanship should at least look like it's coming from a man. Think his writing sounds like him? *She* gets an honorable mention. And do you think he could travel around doing interviews and appearances when he has to maintain his blog everyday? He says he works on the blog something like 12 hrs. M-F but unless there's 36 hours in a day, he's lying.

very admirable of them. however ive never had the urge to start smoking because some hollywood starlet is. smart kids know the qonsequences of smoking and arnt pursueded by celebrities to smoke or drink. if they do, then one should take a good look at their surroundings, and not blame such behaviour on actorst/artists. they are doing a job, what they do in their downtime is their own private business, even if they do live a public life.
look at rosalie (nikki reed) shes supposed to be the most beautiful girl in the world! and she has a HUGE nose i wudnt mind her quitting!!!!!!!

Ashley Greene is so pretty. Nikki Reed not so much. It's sad because in the book, Rosalie is described as the most beautiful, stunning woman and Nikki is pretty but that's it. Nothing va-voom! …And Rosalie is a blonde and Nikki just can't pull it off. She looks atrocious in that blonde wig.

I quit the smokes after 20 years of 20 a day i started on nicotine patches 3 weeks after i stopped i went out got drunk and the next day still pissed i forgot to put on a patch but didnt even notice after that i figured whats the point in patches and inhalers and went cold turkey its been 6 months and i have not looked back its all very well the twilight girls sayng they r gonna quit for the fans but u have to quit for u not others around u it just wont work. but i wish them luck xx
Smoking is about the worst and stupidest thing a person can do. I picked it up when I was a teenager and never had any success in quiting. Your breath stinks, your clothes stink, your lungs are charred. The best advice I can give a kid is steer very far away from it.

My friend is trying to quit smoking and she was talking about it the other day, and the thing she was complaing about was that she missed having something in her hand! She's got her gum and everything but really needs to hold something ha. So it probs really helps.

you don't see brad pitt smoking anymore - but i'm pretty sure he still does. they will start again. personally i know 3 (out of 200) people who quitted smoking and didn't restart. nah, maybe i know 4 but the last one got addicted to cocaine instead

Re: hobieluv83 – mhm, in fact i had a few boyfrinds and makeouts who didn't smoke, but they were annoying little creeps who tried to change me and constantly complained about each and everything. it's cool when you think smoking sucks, and it's also nice that these two are trying to quit, but in fact smokers are most likely the more interesting persons - and less nagging.

They have nicotine, not tobacco. They also keep you busy with the habit of holding them, inhaling, etc. But they do have small amounts of nicotine them to cover the craving, just enough for it to go away.

Those fake cigs don't help much to quit smoking, I've been using one. They still deliver you nicotine, just without smoke or tobacco. Not a fan of it.
