Former Star Trek: The Next Generation actor Patrick Stewart has nothing but raving reviews for J.J. Abrams' resurrection of the Star Trek franchise.
Stewart, who originated the role of Captain Jean-Luc Picard, says that he "loved" the new film and its star, Chris Pine, calling him "brilliant, charming, funny and utterly delightful."
We'll second that!!!!
"I loved it. It was a very odd experience to be in the cinema watching a Star Trek movie that I wasn't in. With the exception of Leonard Nimoy, I didn't know any of the cast but it's still Star Trek. I got a great kick out of it," said the actor.
If only William Shatner was that gracious!!!!!

Patrick Stewart played Picard. No one was replacing him in the new movie. It's easier to be gracious when you just happen to not be in something. William Shatner didn't mind not being in the TNG movies after Generations…
stewart is a much finer human being than shatner.
and picard was a WAY better starfleet captain than kirk.

If no one else played the part, then you didn't originate it, you played it. William Shatner originated the role of James Kirk. Patrick Stewart portrayed Jean-Luc Picard. Perez Hilton failed English Comp. Get it?
He's awesome. I only watched TNG and my favorite actor on the show was him. He's done dozens of different things and doesn't care most people only know him from TNG and XMen.

I loveeeee him. Always have, always will. Picard was by far the classiest captain, Kirk was the flashiest (but NOT the most charismatic… Picard was amazingly versatile). I wish there was a place for him to make a cameo…

Patrick Stewart is hot. He's right about Chris Pine.
Shatner may have "originated" Kirk, but he didn't create the character nor did he write the scripts. He's an actor. Every actor brings a different vision to a role. That's how acting works. And Shatner was too old to play "young Kirk" in 1968. So he really ought to just accept the fact that he's a cartoon now and go do another commercial.
He's being "gracious" in light of the fact that Hollywood had to render him in CGI in Wolverine to make him appear younger - the dude is way old and past his prime - he took his grand kids to see the new Trek film. He HAS to say he loved it even if he didn't. Given the fact that he launched a new play the same night as Trek hit theaters, I'd say he's extremely conscious about his image in light of the new film stepping on the franchise that is his claim to fame - Plus he's dating a 31 year old waitress from Brooklyn! Surely he's still relevant?

Silence would have invited the press to hound him on it, so he said something just as it left theaters (previously he said "no comment I'm writing a book on Star Trek"). As for his relationship to Sunny Ozell who is but 31 years old and a hack singer looking for fame - I just wonder if we will ever hear about her other then that she's standing next to Patrick Stewart?
Stewart's relationship to a woman 40 years his junior is uncommon for a very good reason – they’re unhealthy and damaging to the younger party. As a defender of Woman’s rights and an advocate for abuse victims, I can’t believe that the media takes such a light handed approach when it comes to celebrities. If Patrick Stewart (70) and Sunny Ozell (31 years old) had no fame or fortune between them, we’d all cry foul to the police or to her parents. Which makes me wonder – where is Mr. and Mrs. Ozell in all of this?
