Craig Ferguson Almost Committed Suicide!

In his upcoming memoir, America On Purpose, The Late Late Show host Craig Ferguson divulges that he almost took his own life.
One Christmas morning during his pre-rehab days, Ferguson woke up in a tavern storage room covered in his own vomit and urine…or what he hoped was his!!
“I felt worse than I ever had. … I was a drunk, a loser and a disaster as a human being. … The shame was immense. It pushed down on me like a terrible weight,” said the comedian, reflecting on the lowest time in his life.
The tavern was near the Tower Bridge and Ferguson made a plan to jump down below into the Thames river. While on the way to do the deed, he ran into a friend who cheered him up and inadvertently saved his life.
The Scottish comic credits America as “the land of the second, third and 106th chance.”
He continued, “failure is not a disgrace. It’s just a pitch that you missed, and you’d better get ready for the next one” because the next pitch could bring a homer.
It's amazing how far he's come!

This is really really really old. He's talked about it on his show. The video has been viewed hundreds of thousands of times on youtube.
His last book was entitled "Between the Bridge and the River", so what do you suppose that means? (great book btw). Also, he jokes lightly/makes vague references about his brush with suicide on his show on occasion, Craig Ferguson is truly gifted at what he does.

How on earth is that news? He's been talking about that a few times on his show already, once I think during a monologue about Britney Spears going nutty and why he wouldn't make fun of her potential problems with alcohol etc.
Sure, he's overcome a lot and I respect him a great deal for it, but news…nah, sorry Perez…old news maybe.

alot of people have gone through stuff like this mario-thought of it, some have even tried it. life sucks for alot of people. luckily, for alot of people, it does not get beyone the thinking stage. open your eyes and ears and start looking at and hearing people people mario, go beyond their superficial outside. there are alot of people with problems, alot of people who are or think they are -suffering - and dont think they can take it anymore and need someone to talk to

Love Craig Ferguson. It's pretty insane how some random run-in could swing his life in another direction. I mean, look at him now.
Kudos to Craig! He's my favorite late-night talkshow host, and I think he has a lot of courage to talk about it, whether it's on his show or in his book, mainly because it's something that's not very publicly accepted to talk about.

Regardless of whether or not this is news, it does show how important it is to be kind to people, to make the extra effort to be thoughtful and courteous. You never know whose life you could save.
I saw his show in the studio last week @ Television City. He is Eleventy-million % AWESOME! I love that guy!

Can't stand this guy. He credits America for everything in his life. It gets tiring. Is he telling me that he would never have stayed sober if he still was in Scotland or Scotland does not believe in giving people second chances? Please sometimes, God is who you should be thanking. There are millions of Americans who live in the great USA that can't pay the bills.

Many Ferguson fans, like myself, were at some point drawn in by the life altering incidents he's overcome. He leads his life privately, but has been very open about his less than direct path to the smart, silly, sexy guy we love today.
