Alec Baldwin Suicidal?!
It was the voicemail heard around the internet: Alec Baldwin's 2007 angry rant to his 11 year-old daughter, when he uttered the offensive, now infamous words "rude little pig." Since that time, Alec has been all but mum about the topic, but in a recent interview, he opens up again to discuss the terrible events almost led the actor to suicide.
He candidly explains: "I spoke to a lot of professionals, who helped me … If I committed suicide, [ ex-wife Kim Basinger's side] would have considered that a victory. Destroying me was their avowed goal."
Alex insists that the contemplation of suicide was "so serious" that he almost quit his Emmy-nominated show 30 Rock and he let go of his agent for a period of time. But when it was time to regroup, he knew exactly where to go: The View.
"Whoopi Goldberg is a friend. I called her and said, 'Do you think I can get a fair shake?' Because when you talk about family law and parental alienation, there is this unfortunate gender-based dynamic. Could I walk into a show with a strong female audience? Would they understand my point of view? I trusted Whoopi and Barbara Walters. Whoopi is an impeccably decent person, and I am grateful she gave me a forum."

I like him, too, and this was a conversation that never should have been made public. I think what he said was wrong, but LOTS (if not all) parents say something/s at some point that they regret. ALL people do. I'm sure he would have felt awful enough after saying it even if it didn't become national news. There's obviously a lot more to the situation than anyone on the outside knows.
ok, WTF is so wrong about a dad calling his daughter a rude little pig??? that spoiled little brat probably IS a rude little pig and he's her DAD - he and the girl's mom and her grandparents are probably the only people who have EVERY RIGHT to call her a rude little pig if she's acting as such. this is why i refuse to raise children in this fucking culture. there are times when kids DESERVE to be called rude little pigs and spanked and be put in their places. otherwise we get a bunch of idiotic creatures running around free, with DUIs and sex tapes. goddamn it.

Rosie O'Donnell was on "The View" when Alec came on. What is he talking about when he mentions Whoopi? It was his relationship with Rosie that brought him to the show, as they both explained when he appeared with his mea culpa about the phone message to his daughter.
If this is his explanation of his behavior regarding his personal life, then he is a sad, sad, sad man. Especially if he goes to the "View" for counciling and P.R. control. It takes a self involved douche to take the focus from verbal abuse of a child, to his own personal self loathing and thoughts of suicide to gain public sympothy. Apparently, he's just like his father. Stephan is the only decent brother out of that bunch.

And why be suicidal… For one thing ur doing way better than your brothers, so everytime ur feeling DOWN think about that. That would cheer me up.. LOL

I like him a lot as an actor, but I don't like how he blames Kim for his actions. This is typical of many fathers involved in nasty custody battles. They often say…"she drove me to it" as tho that explains and excuses their actions. That phone call was dispicible on every level and he only has himself to blame for how badly he sounded.

Losing your temper with your kid and calling them a pig….well, that's pretty mild…I don't think it's a story. It's too bad he did it on the answering machine, but it doesn't mean he's a bad parent.
It could mean that he has anger management and impulse control problems. Living with someone like that is like walking on eggshells, always trying to do the right thing. Very stressful.
I think he's a great actor and at times he's really funny.BUT outside the camera he's a 100% asshole .I think he even knows that because he gives interviews about how sorry he is but he keeps pulling the same crap time and again.I'll still watch his movies but that doesn't mean I'll like him as a person.
Alec Baldwin may be a bit of an ass, but I don't think anybody should be judged on their parenting based on their worst moment. People give him a ton of crap, but Kim Basinger is insane and it couldn't have been easy to be married to her. There was a period of time where she didn't leave her house for 6 months because of her agoraphobia.

Baldwin is an ass. Every year he whines about leaving the country… I'd like to see a new celebrity show, where they get sent off to boot camp and get their asses handed to them and learn how to be respectable people.

If all parents who in anger and frustration called their children rude little this or thats, there wouldn't be enough Whoopis or Oprahs to absolve them all. The fact is, children can sometimes be rude little oinkers, but when they and those with axes to grind use the international media to justify their cause, then they have taken it to a whole new level. Suicide is serious business, and hounding someone to a desperation that involves suicidal thoughts is a dangerous practice that can snag the perpetrator on a karmic fishhook.
i love him and think he's the best thing on tv. talking that way to a kid is over the top but i think all parents have lost their patience /temper at 1 time or another. have heard the craziest stories about kim basinger so i'm sure he's been thru hell and back dealing with her.

I love him. It was a shame that his anger and words got the best of him during what seemed like a frustrating time. Kim has her own issues and their fighting was unhealthy. I hope his relationship with his beautiful daughter is strong.

So many people are missing the bigger issue here. This man has problems, and in all of these interviews, it is clear that he is unable or unwilling to take responsibility for HIMSELF and HIS actions. He is always blaming someone. He first blamed his daughter, then his ex-wife Kim. Now he keeps blaming Kim. In any relationship, yes, it takes two to tango, so I'm sure they were both at fault for things. (BTW, just because Kim was afraid to leave her house for years isn't a reason to say she's a bad person) But, to grow as a person, to be a responsible, mature, person, you have to look at yourself and how you play a part in any situation.
And I don't think Alec was even suicidal, I bet he just made that up to get some sympathy. Well, I don't feel sorry for him at all. And I won't watch his movies or shows.

This smells like dead fish. When Baldwin went on The View to apologize, ROSIE was on, not Whoopi, and Rosie said later that he had called to ask her if he should go on because he trusted her. The People reporter that originated this story did not fact check! Not Whoopi, ROSIE!

Alec is a really funny person when his lines are written for him. When he speaks for himself without any lines written for him, there is underlining anger. I feel he is still in love with Kim and no matter what woman after her, he will never love like that. I feel the person woman are attracted to is his acting. He is a different person out of character.
He wants attention claiming he was suidial and very, very insecure.
