As we mentioned before, Madonna finally won the legal battle to adopt three-year-old Chifundo "Mercy" JamesDavid Banda, and the rest of the Madonna clan.

Looks like Mercy's future has just opened up to endless possibilities.

Congrats to the happy family!

      As i recall one of the conditions for adopting Mercy without all of this BS would have simply been to stay in the country for 16 months.

      I adopted a 5 year old Cocker Spaniel a few years ago, his name is Suede, and I didn't change his name because I thought it would be confusing for him, but I guess narcicist "IT" has no such qualms!!! sad! so, so, so sad!!! that so many people admire this shell of a human being!

      Madonna fell in love with David initially when she saw him in an orphanage in Malawi sick and unwell, at death's door. She adopted him and now has adopted Mercy from there too.       Why didn't she adopt in the US? Because you have to follow guidelines and rules and wait your turn like everyone else; unless you buy a uterus, you can't just "grab one off the street" like she did in Malawi.

      Perhaps Madonna's motives for adopting this child are altruistic; maybe she's just trying to atone for being such a bitch to all the people who have helped her in her career. I wonder if Madonna is fully prepared in raising in African girl, though. How much of Mercy and her brother's culture will be maintained in the household? Will they lose their native language and become Americanized brats? Does Madonna know anything about black hair care and is she going to teach Mercy how take of hers, or will a handful of stuff who know that stuff do it for her?

      To the people whom are comparing the plight of American's orphans to those in Africa–yes, those kids in Africa may have it much worse than those in the US. Although much of America's poor and orphaned aren't faced with some of the hardships African kids face, they're not living in paradise by comparison, either. Many of US kids that are orphaned and/or living in poverty still face sexual and physical abuse, living in dangerous conditions and violent neighborhoods filled with gangs and drugs, many orphaned kids wait for years to be adopted and are often shuffled around multiple foster homes in their lives, and last time I checked, AIDS is still a problem in this country as well. And if you've ever been in some of the most poor neighborhoods in some of America's largest metropolitan cities, yes, some kids are actually finding food as well as other things in garbage cans.
