shakira 4 ever
Mario, you don't act Latino. You don't even know proper Spanish! You just want to belong to a group to feel more important.
eso es tan fabuloso
Happiness!
Eres como la influenza porcina.
=
you're like the swine flu.
WHY?
they shouldn't have even mentioned u.
Viva los Latinos! We are taking over. That's amazing you were recognized. It's more than what these people putting you down have done in representing the Latino community. Congratulations!
congrats!!! loved the video
They act like this is a recent phenomenon. We have been influencing this country since the beginning. We have always been here. They are crazy. VIVA LA RAZA!!!!!!!
latinos ROCK!
Neither Javier Bardem nor Penelope Cruz is Hispanic.
They are Spaniards.
I can't help but mention the absence of Black Latinos and non-assimilated looking indigenous people. According to this NBC hype, Hispanics are proxy white people with cute accents.
It was a feel-good report, but short on accuracy.
self indulgent prick
MARIO, you have not influenced NOTHING.
Penelope Cruz in Not Hispanic she Spaniard-(its like calling the British, American)
I like how they talk about the Hispanic Influence, but a lot of it it's not accurate.
VIVA LA RAZA!
I love it. Hispanics are breaking through and about to take the spotlight.
Que sientes el ritmo latinoo….Agree, We hispanics have gone a long way in pop culture =)
Love it!!! thanks for blogging it!!!

I'm pretty certain that the word "Hispanic" includes Spanish-speaking people from Spain and Latin America.
Latin America is defined as South America and Central America (with a couple of exceptions like Belize).
Therefore, Xavier Bardem and Penelope Cruz are indeed Hispanic.
Penelope Cruz and Javier Bardem are what you would call "HIspanic," but I'm sure they resent being called that. I don't know, when I stayed in Spain, I felt the difference there between Central / South America but I think, in the end, the Spanish language convinced me the country is not only European, but Hispanic as well.
Cute / feel-good report…
Re: PerezHilton – you dont have to ACT or speak a certain way to be proud of being hispanic. i hate when people say "act black/spanish/white/etc."
but i do agree with your comment on him wanting to belong to a group.
yay latinos! viva la raza!
im kinda dissapointed selena wasnt in their, but Jlo was and Jlo wouldnt be anywhere without selena…fucked up.
I have to agree with caroaber. There is a significant absence of black latino and indigenous representation in the media and popular culture. Ever watch telemundo?….I've seen more people on that network who look like they're German rather than Latino. There's nothing wrong with embracing the European in Latinos but lets not forget the DEEP African and indigenous roots many Latinos have(whether they look it or not!). Before the Europeans invaded and stole the Americas, the indigenous were there first. When the Europeans came, they brought millions and millions of African slaves to north, CENTRAL and SOUTH America!
This was very nice to see.
And to I am "awesome" 101:
About Penelope Cruz being Spaniard… um I suggest that before you talk bullsh*t, by putting the whole Hispanic community on the hands of that woman you educate yourself on all of the great Latino stars in the Hispanic community.
in other words smd.
since when are spaniards considered latino??? penelope is not latina, she is european….
We just arrived…….. isn't that funny. I watched that farce today on TODAY. Just like all of a sudden you see more African Americans on TV commercials since we now have an AA President. Gimme a break. I am Blatino and I am PISSED!
I'm proud to be part of this amazing community. "Viva la raza" And I have to say that is not only the food or the music it's our personalities, our customs what made us very specials. We're warm and friendly people.
One more thing. For those who think that people from Spain are not Latinos. WRONG!!! The speak Spanish, Spanish language come from Latin language so they are Latinos like us and also they gave us a part of their culture, all that we're right now is a mix from different countries and ethnicities Spain, Indians, African, even Chinese.
Love dem Latinos
Bardem and Cruz are Spaniards! If they were latinos, would you have to count every Spanish and Portuguese speakers around the world, then?
Oh, and all the Italian-speakers too, since "Espresso" is Italian (well, pretty much all the words refering to coffee, anyway)
Let's add the French and the Romanians, and the big latin family would be reunited…
Check your facts!
