Bummer In The Summer For The Kids Down Under
Filed under: Music Minute > New Kids On The Block
The New Kids on the Block were all set to tour in Australia later this summer, but the kids men are now scrapping those plans, citing the RECESSION as their reason why.
On their official website Donnie Wahlberg wrote, "Despite warnings that the financial problems plaguing the world would compromise the Australian tour – they never gave up on this dream and neither did we. However – I’m sorry to say that now – it is true. We can only assure you that when the recession’s stranglehold on the world’s economies eases up a bit – we will find a way to make this work."
Translation: They didn't sell enough tickets!

“Liberal” churches espouse tolerance of homosexual behavior in the name of “love.” They plug for the acceptance of homosexual conduct as normal, “because they can't help it.” They are not only wrong about the latter, but they are actually not being at all loving towards
if you are gay you will be DAMNED for eternity
THEY CAN WACK OFF FOR THE BLUE HAIRED LADIES ON THE CRUISE SHIP…..
THEY SHOULD PLAY AT 5 FAEGS…….
Back to turning tricks in Beverly Hills now ? Sad……………..so sad.
Re: willy949 – shut the fuck up bitch.
Who cares about Austrailia, Canada is where it's at! See you Boys on Sunday in T. Dot!!!!
Well considering you could get tix to either Beyonce, Britney or Pink for a lot less its no surprise they didnt get the sales they needed
^^ Someone said below that you could get tickets to Pink, and Beyonce for a hell of a lot less. That's the point. Down in Australia, I don't want to pay 200$ for a normal ticket to go see NKOTB especially when things are rocky recession wise. Their little vip things were going for almost 500$ USD. I've got better things to do with that money at the moment, sadly… I would've loved to gone and see the boys however. :/
Re: willy949 – you're a douche
Fuck me Donnie!
funny how Pink and AC/DC have sold out down under!!
.
I'm sure Austrailia will recover from the loss ..
Re: Yellow Peeps – i will never recover when they reunited it was a famewhore too many
No one cares
Don't hate, Perez. NKTOB has sold tons of tickets to sold out venues here- who knows why they couldn't sell enough in Australia. But regardless, I
most big name concerts sell out in australia, pink has had about 5 sold out concerts in each city, and this is only about 2 years after her sold out tour of around the same amount of concerts only 2 years ago! its definitely not the recession, just no one cares who the fuck these guys are? ACDC sold out in half an hour, britney will do the same.
btw, australia is not actually in recession yet.
Aussies dont give a shit about old men on the block
I bought tickets for the Brisbane concert at $175 (AU) and I was so disappointed to hear of the tour being cancelled I had a tear in my eye. I never saw them the first time they were here and I had my second chance to go, only to have that dream crushed! I totally agree that it was too expensive and advertised well enough. I wanted to leave a comment about it on the offical NKOTB website but the comments had been 'closed' - fancy that. Jerks (not you Joey)
Maybe it's because the cheapiest ticket for Brisbane was around 100 bucks… most expensive was like 170… yeah what a rip off. They're just too focused on the money to bother to bring the price down to sell tickets.
they shoulda played anyway those people who payed deserve to c them!
I went 2 there show in Toronto amazing i couldnt afford 2 go when when i was a kid it was so amazing 2 see them live but donnie didnt take me on stage and sing covergirl to me *wipes tear from eye* im sure they crushed dreams when they cancled they should have did a smaller venue or sold tix cheaper im disapointed with them
I saw them at The Saratoga Performing arts center in NY the other night and they were F'n AWESOME!!! I felt like a screaming obsessed ten year old all over again….and I still want to have Jordan Knights babies lol
GROSS…..IS ALL I HAVE TO SAY…….
Re: dimsims – WHY DO FAT PEOPLE LIKE NKOB?
july 7th in seattle….
Here in Australia economists recently announced that we have avoided falling into a "recession" in the true sense of the word. Yes, times are tight, but I think the mistake NKOTB (or their promoters) made was booking them into stadium sized venues. If they had opted for smaller venues, the tour may have gone ahead. Besides, they're competing with upcoming tours from Pink, Katy Perry, Simon & Garfunkel, Britney Spears, and our own legend John Farnham who's on the comeback trail.
we prefer ac/dc here
Funny that AC/DC set a ticket sales record in Australia about 2 weeks ago.
I feel sorry for Australia - but Donnie said they will figure it out - it's not over! Believe them they are the ones that are there for their fans - no fancy security, he wrote the words not just a press release - they are #1 to their fans - NKOTB Forever, a fan at 12 and even bigger fan at 33!
If Pink can sell out record numbers of shows then it's nothing to do with the economy. I was a fan as a teenager, but I would only go to see them now for a laugh so I wouldn't be paying top dollar for the privillage…maybe if they lowered their ticket price to something more like what they're worth (about $50) and had a bit more advertising (I've seen zilch!) then they'd sell enough tix.
Translation: Nobody cares about them anymore!!
TATTOO LOVES DONNIE!!
perez… UR A DOUCHE!!
I think the real translation is they're scared they're going to catch swine flu.
Silly buggers - they should have booked Lady Gaga as their support - then they would have sold out every gig then
Damned it - stuff NKOTB! I just want Lady Gaga back here again - as a headliner!!!!!
I agree with what others have said; they should have chosen smaller venues and had lower ticket prices and I think they wouldn't have had a problem selling tickets and selling out shows.
I also think they could have made it work it the bought over less or hired equipment so they could have lessened that cost.
I used to be a fan and would have gone for 'old time sake' but not at those ticket prices.
There were lots of fans disappointed by this announcement. You people have no idea of what you're talking about. These guys are incredible and they can put on a show. For those of you that haven't been to one, u need to back off until you've seen them perform.
Plus they actually care about their fans unlike Britney and Beyonce.
WHOREBAG GRAMMADONNA DIDN'T GO TO AUSTRALIA FOR THE SAME "REASON".
WHY DIDN'T YOU SAY SHE DIDN'T SELL ENOUGH TICKETS, PEREZ?
ok first….THEY NEVER EVEN POSTED DATES FOR THE AUSTRALIAN TOUR AND NO TICKETS EVER WENT ON SALE!!! so there no way they didn't sell enough tickets you need to find out the facts b4 u talk shit
Re: klovesnkotb – so how do I have tickets that now need to be refunded…..
Ummm… It's not summer down under…
listen…they sold out madison square garden! that is awesome…..touring is expensive and their set in elaborate…so im sure it would take a lot to get everythigng there….i have been to 5 shows…ALL SOLD OUT!!!!! so lack of sales? I THINK NOTTTTTT!!!!
