Hey! You're Not Amy Lee! WTF?!

evancarly.jpg

With lead singer Amy Lee leaving Evanescence to pursue a new path, fans wondered what the rest of the band would do.

Now, we know. They've fallen, or rather, changed their name to Fallen and have acquired a brand new leading lady: American Idol finalist Carly Smithson.

The Irish lass was a favorite among her Idol season and now joins the once adored rock group to create a new, yet familiar sound. Her band includes Evanescence guitarist and songwriter Ben Moody, drummer Rocky Gray, guitarist John Lecompt and bassist Marty O'Brian, the only other musician not in the original band.

We won't get to hear any of the goods until Monday, when they release a free download of their first song on their website. We can't imagine anyone else being able to keep up with the strength and power of Amy Lee's vocals, but we'd liked to be pleasantly surprised.

Ok! people are way to critical. First off you have not heard their music yet, and Carly is not trying to replace Amy no one can do that. I love Amy, but Carly has a good voice, people need to get their ears checked. She did not get a fair chance on Idol as young screaming girls wanted young boys with high voices. She has the edge and voice to do wonderful music, and they are Fallen not Evanescence!!! All I am saying is give it a chance, no she is not Amy but she has talent and emotion in her singing that is refreshing and moving compared to the overproduced, pop crap out there.

      WTF!
I love carly.. But she's not amy
      I'm in shock!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Guys, Evanescence did NOT break up. Amy, Terry, And Will are still in the band! "The Fallen" is a completely different(very un-original) band! I'm not worried about this band at all though, Carly's voice is never going to be able to compare to Amy's and their success will never reach Evanescence's. I heard that Evanescence is actually suppose to release a new album in December, but only time will tell what will happen

"There's some pretty weird stuff flying around right now and I'd like to clear up some confusion in the press. As our fans already know, Ben Moody left Evanescence in 2003. Evanescence came out with a follow-up to Fallen in 2006. It was called The Open Door and it debuted at #1 on the Billboard charts and reached platinum status in just over a month. The Open Door has sold more than 5 million copies worldwide. We're currently working on new material that I'm extremely excited about. I believe that to make great music you have to give yourself the freedom to evolve. I don't see the point in making the same record twice, so I always want to challenge myself to make something better, stronger, and more interesting than before. That takes time, but it's worth the wait for me. Hopefully, it will be for the fans too. Look out for new music next year…

      -Amy"

This was posted on the OFFICIAL evanescence website, "The Fallen" is not evanescence, and evanescence did not break up!

OMG, I feel so dumb, when did this happen? Anyway I guess that's the end of Evanescence for me, Amy's vocals which coupled really well with the instrumentals were the main reason I listened to them. I hope Amy pursues a solo career.

Re: Discordia – I've heard Amy sing live and she was AWESOME!

    9. 109

I love Carly Smithson but I think it's gonna be really hard for Ben Moody to make music that won't sound like the music he AND amy created in Evanescence's first album "Fallen". So I just saw this quote from Ben that he supposedly said in an interview "everyone is equal" and (the Fallen) has "more energy than Evanescence could ever muster." Whatever, we will see how long the "every one is equal thing will last". I mean he is gonna be the song writer right and will be making the music that goes along with it too so i give it a few months b 4 people are getting into arguments. i still want to hear it though.

    10. 110

the band was all about amy lee to begin with… theres no point

    11. 111

Amy Lee sounded like crap live. At least we know that Carly Smithson can sing perfectly live… which means she will sound flawless in the record studio. Honestly I bet Fallen sounds better and stronger than Evanescence did.

    12. 112

I like Carly and all, but she just can't stand up next to Amy Lee. Fallen will never be as great as Evanescence. I'm now in mourning for my favorite band.

    13. 113

      wow, im beyond late.
      wtf. i loved evanesence.
where the hell is amy going to go anyway?

    14. 114

Thats not evanescence. John and Rocky left evanescence last year.

Evanescence hasn't spilt up with what I know.

    15. 115

Evanescence has NOT broken up. As if Perez is an expert on real music with all the shallow, commercial pop sluts he promotes and he's now an expert on a band like Evanescence. Amy Lee is working on new material for the next Evanescence album and this is per Evanescence/COLD guitarist, Terry Basalmo.

    16. 116

no one can beat the power of amy lee's voice…why would she leave?!!!!! =( i loved that band

    17. 117

      carly is better than amy

    18. 118

Amy is an amazing singer. Carly isn't bad, but Amy blows her out of the water. But as it has been said numerous times already, Evanescence isn't broken up and Amy hasn't left. Amy said this herself on the Evanescence message board. The old members of Evanescence have teamed up with Carly to create and entirely new band. They didn't change their name, it's the name they chose for this entirely new band. Evanescence should have new material out next year, says Amy.

    19. Jodi says – reply to this

      119

Good luck to 'The Fallen' but lets not forget that the Evanescence is still with Amy Lee, "Evanescence" will be releasing new music next year. Or so we've been told.

    20. 120

      **IMPORTANT!!

HEYY! NEWSFLASH! Listen, as much as I appreciate anyone who gives daily news, a part of this is NOT correct. And, this is also NOT spam, but on Evanescence.com, Amy posted a new note YESTERDAY, that they are working on new material and TO EXPECT NEW EVANESCENCE MATERIAL IN THE NEST YEAR. Don't believe me? Go see for yourself. She's even been posting on EvThreads with the same news.

I do love Carly Smithson, and I also love Evanescence. Just some food for though - what does it matter if she can or cannot keep up with Amy? They're both artists who deserve the same amount of appreciation.

      Peace, just make peace.

    21. 121

Amy Lee never left Evanescence..Ben Moody Left Evanescence in 2003. Evanescence which now consists of Amy Lee, Terry Balsamo, and Tim McCord, as far as i know, are currently working on new music that should come out some time in 2010.

    22. 122

Fallen is a brand new band… Evanescence still exists… do some fucking research before posting something like this.

    23. 123

UMMM evanescence is still together that dude left the band he's creating his own thing now. NO ONE IS REPLACING AMY this is moody's band he hasn't been in evanescence since 04 i think.

    24. 124

      WHAT? :(

    25. 125

i almost had a heart attack. perez, check your facts next time!

    26. 126
