Tell-All Book To Reveal Darker Side Of Will Smith

So while Will Smith is touted as one of the nicest dudes in Hollywood, former Fresh Prince co-star Janet Hubert (Aunt Viv) is ready to unleash a tell-all book that reveals a darker side to the actor.
In Perfection Is Not a Sitcom Mom, Hubert claims that Smith would "sabotage" any actor who "outshone him" and attempts to set the record straight on her sudden departure from Bel Air, when she was fired and replaced with Daphne Maxwell Reed.
On her website, she explains that "I chronicle the sudden change of [Vivian's] character like a CSI episode, detailing the plot, the murder, the funeral and the trial, with actual deposition material taken by a team of nine attorneys," which sounds a little nutty to us.
Smith addressed the controversy back in 1993, saying, "I can say straight up that Janet wanted the show to be 'The Aunt Viv of Bel-Air' show. She's mad now, but she's been mad all along. She said once, 'I've been in the business for 10 years and this snotty-nosed punk comes along and gets a show.' No matter what, to her I'm just the Antichrist."

From what I've read about people's encounter will Will Smith, they all say he's truly the nicest man in Hollywood. I believe their was an interview with Milo Ventimiglia saying how when he first got a very small speaking role in the Fresh-Prince of Bel Air, that Will was very nice to him and even hanging out after shoots. As much as I love Janet Hubert, she's acting very bitter. I don't necessarily believe that Will wanted to 'outshine' anyone but then again people need to take into account that Will was like, what, in his early 20s and coming off of some HUGELY successful movies? It's not surprising that he might have developed a bit of an ego.
However though, I think Janet Hubert is just bitter over the fact that she was fired from the show and just blames will to gain some publicity. If anyone watched the E! True Hollywood story about the Fresh-Prince of Bel Air, they said she was fired because of her behavior.

I think Will Smith really is a nice guy. Sounds like The Woman Formerly Known As Aunt Viv is just a teeny tiny bit embittered and jealous. And for her to write an entire book about the experience of getting fired from a job is just stupid. I didn't write a book when I got fired from that shitty job I had in 1993.

Yeah I always wondered about what happened to the original actress, the first Aunt Viv. I liked her more than the actress who replaced her. It was like one season she was just gone! Sort of like what happened to the little sister on "Family Matters," they didn't know what to do with her anymore after the Urkel character took over the show.
i'm inclined to believe she's lying through her teeth. everyone's always going on and on about what a wonderful guy Will Smith is and how great he is on set. even the other cast members of Fresh Prince say so. that, and she was fired for her behavior on set.

Ummmm Aunt Viv could have been a cardboard cut out for all she meant to the show. Aunt Viv and Will aren't parts of the sitcom that would even come close to outshining eachother. One is the star the other is a minor supporting character. Every one tuned in for Will.

Nothing new. This was all said 15 years ago. Writing a book about the same thing she spoke about shows some desperation on her part. She had no major roles prior and no major roles after.
The rest of the Fresh Prince cast begs to differ. Even Tatiana Ali, who was super close to Hubert, hasn't said a bad thing about Smith. Doubt she will be able to back her up.
Will Smith is not all his publicist reports him to be. I saw him on tavis smiley show a while back, this man is all about HIMSELF. Which isn't bad sometimes, but he refused to give ANYONE else any credit for him achieving his lofty goals. Not even wanting to acknowledge that people HAD to take a chance on him to get him into tv and movies. Yes, he had to succeed once he got the job, but had to GET the job first and that depended on someone else giving him a chance. he wouldn't admit even that. Smiley was taken aback by his attitude, but played it cool. Smith came out sounding like he had a giant stick up his ass. He is sooooooooooo narcissistic. That's what he and Tom Cruise have in common. Doesn't Scientology teaches them that they are gods and they ALONE are responsible for their successes. Way to kick Steven Spielberg and others in the face SMITH.

The truth mostly likely is somewhere in the middle of their two sides. Maybe Will Smith got a little haughty and maybe Janet Hubert expected a little more from her part in the show. I will say this - when woman are aggressive with their careers, they're quickly launched in the category of "pushy" or "bitchy". When men are aggressive with their careers, they're considered "driven for success". Who knows? Maybe that double standard could've factored into their clash.

i just finished watching the all whole serious fresh prince and love it, but wasnt happy that they replaced the aunt viv. The show had a great supporting roles but it was the 'will smith show". All this happened like decades ago so why is she writing her book now? just makes her sound jealous of his fame.
Whoa! to the Aunt Viv. He may have had some ambition and been competetive, but the fact remains, he was still just a KID, and yet that kid outshone her. Cream rises, what can I say?

I met him briefly in Savannah when he was filming a movie and I was surprised at how pleasant he was. Even after a long day of filming in the humid Savannah heat, he took the time to greet people that had watched the filming, sign autographs and more, and all with a smile and a thank you for being a fan. I also had a friend that had met him and his wife (they rented a home there for the duration of the movie) and she got the same impression.
Much different than the impression Keanu Reeves gave off in the same conditions while filming there!
I'm glad I got to talk to him for a few minutes and while sure, he may have been cocky at the young age of 18 or 20, what *kid* wouldn't when put in that situation?
I think she should be ashamed writing a book like that about a young man, one who obviously learned from whatever mistakes he made and became an outstanding *adult* with a good sense of values and the common decency to treat other human beings with respect.
That's just my two cents on it.

Savannah heat could feel pretty unbearable to a temperate Canadian boy, which he was. You stick a polar bear in the desert and see how he does. Or he was being a prick, lol.

I love will smith, he is amazing and a truly excellent actor. Janet is obviously bitter, because perhaps she wasnt working her best and will wanted the best for the show but for every interview ive seen him in and backstage footage I cant believe he would try to sabotage anyone. plus everyone who he works with says hes a great guy, and he wouldnt be getting roles if he was mean to cast or crew to be fair. She is just bitter because she was fired, and hates that will is successful.
