Glambert's Former Label Defends Tracks!
In an attempt to drum up more press, the label head responsible for releasing Adam Lambert's old recordings is speaking out!
John Hecker, CEO of Hi Fi Recordings, claims that the American Idol runner-up co-wrote the tracks on his album, On With The Show, which Hecker plans to release this summer.

We recall Glambert saying: "Back in 2005 when I was a struggling artist, I was hired as a studio singer to lend my vocals to tracks written by someone else."
Hecker tells a different story!
"The music's amazing," the Hi Fi Recordings CEO tells Billboard. "There are some uptempo [songs], there's some that rock a little more, and there are some songs on the same tip as Want. It's a real album that's coming out, not just a conglomerate of a bunch of songs. This is all original material — as a matter of fact, Adam wrote a lot of it."

Hecker claims Glambert stopped into the studio days before the Idol finale and was "blown away by the material."
And even though the label head hasn't talked to 19 Entertainment because it "wasn't relevant" at the time, Hecker is confident releasing Adam's album before the new Glamberella material is out is in no ways illegal
Says Hecker: "We would never put anything out that wasn't fully owned by the parties involved with all the rights secured. We were really careful."
And of course, Hecker believes what he is doing is best for Glambert's career!
"I'm working [Adam's] brand with as much care as anybody could," he concludes. "I do not want to hurt this guy, I want this guy to be as huge as he should be, and I think this music is only going to help."

Why is Hecker blamed? He owns the rights, Lambert agreed to sing. It's HIS to do with what he wants. Given how awful the singing is though - I wouldn't release it on principal until it had been remastered.
If all the songs on the cd are as good as the one Perez posted earlier then I would want to buy that cd. I don't understand why Adam wouldn't own it.
I have this “little” feeling that HiFi is going to wish they had never started this before it is all over. As we have all witnessed, here, Adam does have a very protective fan base that isn’t afraid to be vocal when they think their boy has gotten the short end of the stick. If anyone takes any “legal” action against HiFi, I am pretty sure they will be completely villified in the press.
And, in the long run, this is just more press and media attention for Adam. By the time his “real” single comes out his PR people won’t need to market him for recognition…he seems to be pretty well known already. So the marketing will be the music and not Adam. One less thing for his management to worry about.

Perez - this was NOT Adam's "former label". He simply did some studio work for them. He was not signed to them. If you have details that prove otherwise, let us know. If not, please stop referring to Hi Fi/Whilshire as Adam's "former label."
What's ticking me off about this whole situation is how much Hi-Fi/Wilshire Records is LYING about this.
1) Leaking one song and saying it was Adam's "official" first single
2) Saying that Adam co-wrote many of the songs when he didn't. It's NOT his music!
3) Saying that Adam came to them and listened to the album before the finale and was "blown away" - which is highly improbable.
4) Implying that Adam was involved in the release of these demo recordings AND approved of them - which Adam denied 5) Putting out statements that they're doing Adam a favor and that they care about his career and musical brand.
And to top it all off trying to pull this stunt behind Adam, 19E and Sony/BMG's back.
Like many have pointed out before, this isn't the first time there has been pre-Idol material out there from contestants - David Cook, Taylor Hicks, Brooke White, Carly Smithson, Kristy Lee Cook, even Matt Giraud and Kris Allen have stuff out there. The difference being they all wrote the material and/or acknowledge it.
But the low down, dirty, sneaky, manipulative and false way they're trying to put the material out makes me SO furious that I want 19E/SonyBMG to CRUSH them to itty bitty bits and kill this release.
I'm just happy that was not his new single. That song SUCKED. It wasn't the AI contestant I saw in the past few months.

OMG. Rob Pilatus, one of the two lip synchers in Milli Vanilli, ended up dead of a drug overdose at the age of 32. Wow. I didn't know that. All that public humiliation musta got to him. Should be a lesson to everyone else. Honesty is always the best policy. Lies always catch up to you in the end.

Well if the single Want is "original material" then why was it recorded under the name "December" by someone named Dublyn Jones. it was on the Wilshire records website earlier yesterday and then later in the evening it was gone. It is definitely the same song as Want - same word and melody. Somehow that does not seem like original material to me. Sounds like Want was recorded by Adam as a Demo to sell the song to other artists, but is now going to be on a album supposed by him. Sounds fishy to me.
Re: Millionmoons – Alot of your speculations are just comments on their speculations. Were you there? Adam has a lot more to lose with that washed down song than they do. Adam has acknowledged everything and aside from songwriting - which Adam has every reason to lie about, given it's god awful - and has not denied anything else they have said.

They PAID HIM for the music he made for them. He got cash and they got the recordings. Studios and labels often find someone that might be interesting, so they end up having them record a couple songs for just this purpose. Given Adam having so much "support" around him, I would highly doubt he was living in a cardboard box. ADAM chose to sell out for tracks - which is fine, money kicks ass - but to blame the guy that GAVE HIM MONEY to do those tracks… it's like someone bitching about how awful a homeowner is for hiring a contractor and the homeowner sold the house for profit. How DARE they take someone's new tile job, then sell the house for the equity that contractor made them!!!

Hi Fi and its Chief Executive Douche Hecker were not the company that originally hired Lambert for the session/demo singing, Wilshire Records was and they're the ones who shopped these demo tracks to Hi Fi. So I think I'd trust Lambert, the guy who actually sang the tracks back in 2005 rather than some pissant record exec who only has secondhand info and dollar signs ka-chinging in his eyes. Also this post has the timeline of the statements BACKWARDS, Hecker released his smarmy, self-serving statement to the press first. It wasn't until hours later that Adam released his short smack-down in response. I know this is a superfun gossip blog, but a industrious fact-checker intern might be worthwhile investment, just sayin.
I still think AI will try to put the kibosh on this.
I have a feeling 19E/RCA will do whatever they can to block this release. Leona Lewis went through a similar situation, and her label was able to block it. They will tie them up in court long enough to get Adam's real album out first. Perhaps they will even push up the release?! Hi Fi is obviously taking advantage of Adam. They had plenty of time to release his music, but chose to wait until NOW?! Greedy vultures! And I have a feeling they aren't being truthful. I believe Adam over these a-holes trying to capitolize on his popularity. If anyone wants proof, just listen to 'December'. Another band recorded the same song, under a different title, years ago. Adam recorded the demo for it. The song flopped, so now they are trying to push it as an Adam Lambert single. NOT cool!!

Adam sang Want as demo. Want was actually recorded as "December" by Dublyn Jones, a Hi-Fi studio artist. They pulled most of her songs, coincidentally the same as the ones on Adam's CD off their website yesterday. Hmmmm

Basically, the situation is that HiFi recorded some demos (see: NOT HIS MUSIC) to shop around to other artists. They've been sitting on these tracks for years. It's only now that Adam is popular that they're trying to make money off of it. They claim that Adam co-wrote some of the songs, but considering that the SAME SONG was on their website under the name "December" and sung by an artist named Dublyn Jones (it has since been removed, probably because they knew it exposed the inconsistencies in their statements), it's obvious that this track was a DEMO never intended for Adam. Also note that Hecker was intentionally vague when asked about whether or not Adam would receive compensation. All he said was that "Adam would share in the success." What does that even mean? Industry success? Monetary success? Artistic success? If Adam was actually a co-writer for anything on this album, he would be automatically entitled to royalties. That Hecker wasn't straightforward with this answer shows that he's LYING. They are not doing this to benefit Adam, they are doing it to line their pockets.
The billboard article has contradictory statements from Adam and HiFi, so someone has to be lying. Seeing as how Adam has nothing to gain from lying, it's obvious that the liars are HiFi. They also claim that Adam visited the studio right before the finale. Yet, at the same time, they say that 19E/RCA was oblivious to the release of this album. Does anyone really think that Adam would be a) stupid enough to jeopardize his contract with 19E by visiting another recording company or b) able to visit a studio without his reps at 19E knowing? It wouldn't make any sense, which is why we know it's not true.
In any case, even if this album is released, it won't get the promotion/airplay/etc that the real debut will get. They can't even legally release it under the name "Adam Lambert" without Adam's/RCA's consent (which they surely won't give them). Bottom line is, Adam does NOT support the release of this album, so his fans shouldn't either.
Seriously who gives a fuck about this kareoke singer…Bitch should be lucky he's releasing anything….he didn't win so should just fuck off back to the gay bars with all his fem friends.
All the more publicity for Adam. Anything he sings sounds good, so I wouldn't worry too much.

What I'd like to know is financially, is Adam going to be getting any residuals? Also, what kind of contract did he sign, if any. All this smacks of opportunism, and it's disgusting. Adam's fans will rally around him like no tomorrow - HiFi and Wilshire will be sorry they're doing this when the album doesn't sell as expected, because we will follow Adam's lead on what he wants his fan base to do.

Re: Megan Fox Before Nose and Lip Surgery – They've already said Adam will share in the profits (the blog post doesn't go through the full This label typically doesn't sign artists for long term contracts, they record for them and shop them around to larger labels. It's not uncommon at all, and most artists that don't have a reality competition have broken through in this style. The most likely story is that they tried to shop him around and no one wanted him. Many of the people he worked with on those recordings work with bands that all have the same croonish sound. Given his not-so-truthful statements in the first place (like being completely broke, which his mom's statements contradict) and the all too pop sound of it, I don't blame Adam for saying what he has. But it's ironic that you mention "it's not called greed, it's called wanting money". That's almost verbatim the definition of greed. It's completely fair, because Adam signed the dotted line for cash. Just like they are signing the dotted line for cash.
