Portland Mayor Sam Adams' Revealing Text Messages

Oh, how technology has made it so easy to spot a liar!
All kinds of goodies are starting to pour out in the investigation of Portland's gay Mayor, Sam Adams. Mayor Adams was accused of sleeping with a young intern, which he initially fervently denied.
He then conceded and admitted to the relationship and today his lawyers released this statement to follow up his apology:
"In 2005, Sam Adams was briefly and stupidly involved sexually with an 18-year-old man. In 2007, Sam Adams' political ambition overcame his sense of responsibility and he tried to cover it up. In 2009, Sam Adams' knowledge of what it means to do the right thing, vis a vis Mr.Breedlove, was restored. Ironically, it served to lay him low at the very moment of his greatest political success. He has been publicly humiliated. He is sincere in his oft repeated apologies to friends, constituents and fellow citizens. He wants now to be the leader he was elected to be. Whether he is permitted to do so will be decided by the voters of Portland when the recall effort is launched in a few days. It is best kept in their hands. No crime was committed."
Only minutes after this was released did the media catch wind of some revealing text messages sent between Adams and his former lover! The texts range from discussing lawyers to Beau's infamous interview with The Oregonian to some genuine moments of sadness between the two men. At one point, Breedlove apologies to Adams for the situation, but Adams responds: " ?… I'm the felon, the slutty trashy felon. All over the news…I'm so sorry Beau."
And this is why you never want to cover shiz up and never leave a paper trail to out you. Or, in this case, a texting trail.
This is sure to get much uglier for ole' Sam Adams!
I don't care who Sam was sleeping with in 2005. He has been great for our City! People are just looking for a reason to bring him down. Team Sam!

I think it's more of the media's fault for making such a big deal about these things. The French have affairs all the time, and they laugh when Americans make these moments into noteworthy scandals. Interns are such sluts ALL the time. I think we've realized that by now.

I mean seriously! What interest is it of anyone, especially anyone outside of Portland, what this man did in his bedroom with another consenting adult. So what if some of the attraction began when he was 17, in fact, the legal age of consent is younger in some states. These two knew what they were doing, they were consenting, they were having a good time for a short while. He made a mistake in lying about it, but wouldn't you if you feared all the shit it would kick up. YES, it is now 20 times worse because he did lie, but does this ongoing punishment fit the NON-CRIME???????? Move along people, nothing to see here, let the man do his job. It is so ridiculous that this is even on this site. After everything that has been going on w/Perez in the past few days, why stir up shit where it isn't even necessary. I hope to god all the recallers will crawl under a slimy rock, and if they don't, Sam's supporters will get the last laugh. But we will only laugh a few seconds because we will then put it in the past and let this very capable man be our Mayor!

If some of the American people didn't act so stupid about gays, maybe Mr. Adams would not have lied. We make gay people feel so guilty because they are gay, they feel they have to lie. Why can't Mr. Adams have an affair. The boy was of age. The repurcussions from an affair, especially of a gay person, still is so titillating. Isn't it? Who cares. If Sam Adams Was a Strait man he would be in Jail!! Breedlove was a 17 year old intern when the Affair started not 18. I live 30 minutes from Portland and this has caused way to many problems for a city that has already enough problems to deal with! He should resign!

As a very open-minded PDXer, I get really tired of hearing about all of this, including the fact that two of his homes may go into foreclosure. I'm sure he can do a great job as Mayor, but he really needs to get his personal life figured out so he can focus on the city's issues.
I live in Portland, and am so tired of hearing about this story! It is beyond blown out of proportion. And seriously? Someone thinks if he were straight he'd be in jail? Please! If the man were straight we wouldn't be hearing about this anymore. Leave the man alone and let him lead the city.
mr adams started this all with breedlove when he was 17. that's newsworthy and the cover up to gain public office is just as newsworthy. do more research on this than what mario spews, and you may find yourself more informed and able to make a worthwhile posting.

I live in Portland. Regardless of his sexual orientation, he's a liar. He continues to lie, he lied to the inquest, he lied to detectives, and he lied to the people of Portland,Oregon. He has done absolutely nothing to benefit the town of Portland, outside notoriety. Frankly, very disgusting notoriety. He is nothing but a liar who is squirming because he keeps getting caught in lies. He claims that he is losing 2 of his 3 houses in Portland because of legal fees. The man is slated to make $117,000 a year being mayor of Portland. That comes to $9750/month. Those 2 mortgages in default come to under $2,000/month. Now tell me this, if a man cant balance his own damn finances, how can he balance a citys? He is a threat to the city of Portland, even when driving his vehicle. I will vote for a recall of this fool. I have no problem with a gay mayor of this town, as long as he's a respectable one. Not a self-absorbed, pathological liar. Ok, So I agree with a few people on here about Sam first off he dose have some killer blue eyes and second he has done nothing good for this city other then spend money like crazy on stupid crap like bike boxes and most of them are already going to crap.
