Farrah Fawcett's Son Will Be Allowed To Attend Funeral

Sources close to Redmond O'Neal are saying that Commissioner Jane Godfrey has signed off on an order allowing the troubled son to attend mother Farrah Fawcett's funeral.
Redmond will even be permitted to wear a suit and not his jail uniform.
According to the source, Redmond is "devastated" by his mother's passing and set even more firmly on his path of sobriety.
A funeral date has yet to be determined.

I never met your mother but she seemed like a wonderful woman. I am very happy to learn that you will be allowed to pay your last respects at her funeral dressed like a proper young man instead of in prison garb. I hope this will encourage you to do better and be all you can be. tonight I will pray for your family but especially you. your mother is gone now, no one can do anything about that. this has be a very sad and emotional day for me with the deaths of both your mother and now michael jackson. I wish you the very best and I will google you from time to time and I hope to read about all the positive things you are doing.

That is great for him. But I can tell you no other inmate in the history of the United States has gotten as much special treatment and I find it to be horrible. Whatever happened to the three strikes rule in California.

I do not feel bad for this child, he caused his mother so much pain. Now there will be some crocodile tears shed and he will be back to his same old habits and now maybe with more money. I really do hope that he straightens up his act; he does not know how lucky he has been.

it is so sad that farrah fawcet has passed away. i hope she can finally rest in peace. however i do think it is absolutely ABSURD that her son gets to attend her funeral. he is in jail for a reason….and normal people don't get to leave to attend their loved one's funerals…just another "celebrity" getting special treatment….

An open letter to Redmond: we're praying for you and your family. Your mother was always a classy, grounded celebrity, something that's not easily found in Hollywood. Our family has had so much experience in the past year and a half with death, and I want to let you know that it does get easier in time. My uncle went through similar problems to you when my grandmother passed. Be strong and keep holding on and watch for the signs from her - she will send them!
Redmond - I have seen firsthand how easy it is to find yourself in the situation you are in when a loved one passes. It is wonderful that you've realized already how important sobriety is. Don't ever lose that drive, and always remember how strong and brave your mother was. She brought a lot of joy to many people. Look for signs from her - she will send them!!
Almost all prisons in Canada will allow you to go to a close relatives funeral which is nice.

Re: RoughMaster – I think it's quite appropriate - I have a family member right now in hospice, and another aunt used it as an opportunity to fall off the wagon HARD ("it's all about ME!)
Redmond, 4 years ago, I was a drunk-a$$-DRUNK. My mom was dying. With the help of another objective party, went to AA (not all AAs are created equal, BTW). Now, 4 years later, I'm something my mom can look down on and be proud of. It took that aforementioned "jolt". Thank God I was sober at the time she died, and have been counting time ever since. Now I understand why they give you coins.
Stay sober, Redmond, and be honest with yourself about it. Only YOU and your mother will KNOW.
This is NOT a case of a celebrity getting special treatment. Many prisoners if they are not in for a serious offence (rape, murder) and are not a flight risk are allowed to attend the funerals of parents, children, spouses, etc. So what Redmond is a drug freak does that mean he doesn't love his mother? Let the kid go to the funeral. Maybe this tragedy will be the catalyst he needs to make a real change in his life. R.I.P. Farrah

My condolences first of all…second Redmond take a good look at your life before and now…you have been self destructing yourself with drugs instead of having a better life…before when you had your mom…you did not care enough to stop doing all these things and you should have enjoyed every minute with your mom…now she is gone & gone forever…so reconsider your options and do some productive decisions, take control of yourself and your life do better things and maybe your mom from heaven will see that somehow…even if she had to die first for you to realize it that…she did made a change in your life…
i would like to take back my previous statement regarding redmond being able to attend his mother's funeral….i admit that i was misinformed and did not realize that even though one is incarcerated they can still attend their loved one's funeral. i hope that he is able to move past his troubles and know that his mother is watching over him. RIP FARRAH

Okay i dont mean any disrespect to farrah fawcetts BUt i dont think that he son should be abel to go the funeral . the same exact thing happend 2 my friend she was locked up on POsseion charges and her father passed away she wasnt allowed 2 go to the funeral why should he beacuse his mother is famous thats BULL

They have no idea how to raise their kids to be "nice and respectable young adults" anymore ? The THUG LOOK is dangerous, stupid, and very South Central Low Class. Either Redmond gets his act together, and soon, or he'll end up blowing whatever money he ends up inheriting from Farrah………….not hard to do in EXPENSIVE LOS ANGELES !
