Perez your gay rights campaign seems to have lost credibility

  2. 2

This sucks! Here in Ireland we have had an openly gay, well loved senator for years. Lots of prominent people in our media are gay. I bet if the government put a referendum to the people full marriage rights for the LGBT community would be legalized.

  3. 3

    shut up

  4. 4

Tell me about Perez!! We are soo backwards here :( Ireland loves Perez :) !! Tila Tequila is a spastic!!!

  5. 5

hi, im from Ireland and i feel that this is such a shame… as the article says, there is great support for same sex marriage here and I like many, believe the government is so fucked up!! they can barely wipe they're own arses let alone allow all people have equal rights! one day it will happen and all people in Ireland will be treated equally and when that day comes I will be so happy!Tiocfaidh ar La!! (Our Day Will Come!!)

  6. 6

Well duh. We've always been behind the curve on issues like this, it comes from having the church is such a position of power for so long. Ideally, civil marriage would be accepted now, but give us a couple of years and we'll catch up with the rest of the world. Frankly, I'm more worried about the financial situation, though perhaps I'm a little biased because I wouldn't be able to afford a wedding atm anyway XD

  7. 7

This is crap. Im Irish and Im pissed off at the gvernment. Its so unfair the way they treat gay and lesbian people, its so racist! Theyre people too, jeez!

  8. 8

Im getting sick of your biased attitude here Perez. All you seem to care about is equality for gays. Believe me,many of us in Ireland know what it is like to be treated like a second class citizen and discriminated against, and it is nothing to do with being gay.
Gays in Ireland are very well accepted as far as i can see.The only difference is they dont shove shite down our throats everyday like you do. I am all for equality. One of my best friends is gay. Ireland is very open to the gay community.

  9. 9

Always have been a fan of the Irish (not Notre Dame though).

  10. 10

Where is this public support you speak of?? Thanks to DeVelera we have a wonderful thing where you cannot change the constitution without a public refrendum.

My autistic brother has no equality in Ireland either!

My would never vote for G&L marraige unless it was clearly stated that g&l could not adopt. Yes children are undeniably fucked up by two straight parents, yet as fucked as they can, g&l only add yet ANOTHER fucked up dimension for a child to deal with.

  11. 11

Hey, great to see you're back on the band wagon – don't know if anyone still believes your sincerity though.
Back off this, the Irish gay community needs *credible* supporters.

  12. YUCK says – reply to this

    12

it was also a sad day when you called william an f too.

  13. 13

Nobody is likeing the Irish goverment at the momment. Thay are such wasters. Irish childern are fucked for the future because of the goverment cutting costs in the education and health department.

  14. 14

Come on…these are the same people whoonly recently allowed birth control. And you expect them to evolve this much?

  15. LMG says – reply to this

    15

Not surprising. The Catholic Church pretty much controls the entire country.

  16. 16

    Re: Perez Is A B*tch

Sorry if i sound stupid, but what has Notre Dame got to do with Ireland.?

  17. 17

Icky Icky Poo indeed. Just not for the reasons you are claiming.

  18. 18

swandive, ok so who are you to pass judgement on my country?

  19. 19

the new bill gives the same tax, inheretence, domestic abuse etc etc etc rights to gay couples as married ones, civil p-ship is marraige with out the title the title would require a constitutional amendment, given the irish people refused divorce three times and finally it came in on 52% majority in 1997, this is a stepping stone and a damn site closer then other countries. Given Homosexuality was a criminal offence in my life time I think Ireland has developed enourmously,

  20. 20

Perez is cancer to gay rights. Not only does he use the derogatory terms when he feels like he can, Perez is an attention whore. Perez, once the ad sponsor money runs out will you be sucking cock for cash in back alleys?

  21. 21

Re: Craic Head – nothing….just thought I would put that in there. I am a fan of Bigfoot though, thought I would add that too.

  22. 22

Re: LMG – It really dosn't. Ireland is a very tolerent, forward moving country. P.S nobody lisens to the church anymore. Not after the that scandal of sexual abuse and the most recent scandal of Artain.

  23. 23

  24. 24

At least Perez has finally stopped filing Irish issues under "Anglomania"…I guess…

  25. 25

    Re: swandive
Who the hell are you to pass judgement on my country? Its funny how quick countries are to point out other countries flaws, when they dont know anything, while turning a blind eye on the flaws their own countries have.
And the reason there was problems with obtaining birth control is because "the pill" doesnt stop the egg from being fertalized it just stops it from being implanted so therefore is considered MURDER.

  26. 26

yeah it sucks mind you the same thing happened on the abortion vote…… people voted yes to it and the government said no….what was the point of the polls then?

  27. 27

HYPOCRITE STFU YOU ARE NOT WORTHY.

  28. 28

I live in Ireland and I seriously hate the government. Basically everything that they do is stupid. They actually have no clue about what the people want. I'm straight, but I'm just as much for gay rights as any gay person. Our government sucks. Alot. I think that the whole Catholic church thing is too powerful here. I mean, I am Catholic aswell, but I don't agree with the religion.. Religion should not come into their decisions about equality, it should be just about what it is, but they are stupid enough to let that get in the way, then they end up with unequal rights for the people..it all comes down to religion and perhaps certain governement members being homophobic. The Catholic church is the reason. And I hate being Catholic because of that.

  29. 29

fuck gay rights, michael jackson just died

  30. 30

Sweetmomma,as devastated as i am that MJ has died as I was a huge fan, what right have you got to say fuck gay rights…in that case I say fuck sweetmomma right in the fucking ear!How dare you? Anyways lets ignore her ignorance…As a gay man in Ireland I can agree with every other person on here who has dissed the government. They are ridiculous. I mean they fuck up gay rights,we vote No in the Lisbon treaty and they make us vote again and then they cut funding for hospitals and schools yet they recently spent millions on a piece of metal called the spire that is an unnecessay landmark while the standards of education are dropping and children and adults die in hospital. The only priorities the government and politicians have in Ireland is how they are going to line their own pockets with cash…its sickening!!!However R.I.P Michael Jackson and up Gay rights…Ps. Pride tomorrow…cant wait!

  31. 31

Maybe it'll be different in norn iron?

  32. 32

It really does suck. But considering how catholic this country used to be the governement couldn't risk further defeat or bad press by not passing a law. They did it to appease demands. But with gay rights now demanding equal treatment world wide instead of the legal recognition that was fine a few years ago, it makes this gesture pointless. However the VERY long bill covers more than gay rights and give's rights to several forms of long term co-habiting relationships of any kind. It's a good step even if it is still not a full one. Or track record on Abortion referendum's is proof enough that we can't shake our religious past.

  33. 33

Give it up - no one believes you any more

  34. 34

Perez, There are muti-coloured flags along the banks of the River Liffey, running through the capital City of Ireland, this week in celebration of Gay Pride. The Irish are tremedously accepting of all walks of life - trust me Ive just returned from living in Japan and Ireland is light years ahead in acceptance of diversity.

The majority of people want equality for all here - as the survey shows. Our government are a bunch of wasters who couldnt organise a piss up in a brewery but i suppose we're a step closer to equality and thats never 'a sad day'.
There are sadder days in other countries.

  35. 35

you should really stop promoting the gay rights movement… you disgraced the cause and shamed yourself

  36. 36

    im irish
i think if u love someone u should be allowed get married
    love is love

  37. 37

I love u Perez!! I think we really need to change the way we look at things and stop being so traditional…Times have changed!

  38. 38

Good. At least there is SOME sanity left in this world.

  39. 39

    This sucks.
Ireland is so backwards ; gay people have barely any rights.
