He was interviewed by CNN on the red carpet.

Joe Jackson fucked up Michael's "childhood"…he is a disgusting human being. MJ just wanted to create a childhood that he never had. Michael was a stunningly good looking young man (just google images of him in his early years) and Joe, not to mention his doormat of a mother, completely fucked up MJ's self image, self esteem and how he felt as a young black man. Just look at the rest of the family…those lousy parents made every child feel like they weren't good enough just the way they were….and they were BEAUTIFUL!
I cry for Michael's lost youth and I picture him, up in Heaven, as being that adorable little boy all over again….getting the childhood that he deserves and never had on Earth.

I think that on top of appearing to be a little senile, he may also be in shock. I work in a nursing home and often times when older people lose someone it becomes too much for them to handle and they ramble like that or start saying things that don't make much sense to the rest of us. They often seem cold and distant as well. Maybe this is what's happening with Joe.
