Michael Jackson's mother, Katherine, has just been awarded temporary guardianship of her son's three children.
The 79-year-old Jackson will be the temporary guardian of Prince Michael Jr., 12, Paris Michael Katherine, 11, and Prince Michael II, 7, until July 6th (next Monday) when permanent guardianship will be determined by a Los Angeles County Superior Court judge.
The hearing has been bumped up a month earlier from it's original date of August 3rd.

I think at age 79 that Katherine is a little too old to be raising 3 children, 2 of whom are nearing teenage and one of about 7. Shouldn't they go to one of his siblings, maybe one who already has children?

thank god for that…i feel terrible for these kids, i hope they grow up to be good people and not get messed up along the way. leaving them with katherine sounds like the only good idea so far. its not like anyone else has stepped up to take care of the kids.
I am glad they gave them kids to the grandmother. She will raise them right, with the help of the Aunts & Uncles. Somehow I believe Joes has learned a very valuable lesson about being too controlling and domineering. I think he will be passive this time around.

Back in the sixties almost EVERY kid I know got smacked, and regularly. Most I know were not permanently damaged, they generally don't smack their kids, and it kept them respectful and out of trouble. It's a politically incorrect thing to do NOW, but I don't know many adults who wouldn't have mostly backed Joe up then. Parents believed children should be seen and not heard, and 'spare the rod and spoil the child' was practically a mantra. Joe fiercely wanted a better life for his kids, and wanted them to be somebody. I'd bet that in hindsight he probably would have approached things in a much different way. By the time you learn life's lessons, it can be too late to undo them. They owe much of their livelihoods and skills to Joe's dedication, however misguided, and he deserves forgiveness, because he thought he was doing what was accepted as right at the time.

I have the same worries as someone else commented before. Not to be disrespectful to the lady,,but she is high up there in age. What happens if she dies suddenly or gets sick and can't care for the children. There will be another custody fight and the kids are the ones suffering all the shuffling around. One of the problems here is that if Debbie Rowe asks for her children, the last one will be separated from his siblings since she is not obligated to take him, and they probably WONT let her take him. Another problem is.. if they go with one of Michael's siblings.. which one? Probably they should look for who has had a more stable family life and is willing to raise them properly.

Not a good decision. These kids need A NEW HOME, far away from the Jacksons, especially Joe Jackson. That family is too screwed up, they need a normal life.
ugh I wish someone else would have taken them. Didn't their old nanny want to have custody of them? How can a 79 year old woman look after these children? I have two boys who are 8 and 6 and they can even wear me out and I am 50 years younger!

Yeah, I'm kinda concerned about this! Michael always had nothing but good things to say about his mother, but seeing as she's still married to that bastard Joe… If the kids are living in the same house as him.. I'm concerned. Michael had big-time issues with his father and was extremely afraid of him, to the point where he would sometimes feel sick around him. As most people know, Joe beat all his kids regularly as children using belts and switches, and was very cruel. Michael would NOT want his kids to be submitted to a second of his father's abuse! I hope that there's a way for her to get custody without him being involved.. Which doesn't sound possible. Maybe one of the siblings should take the kids on instead? I'm sure they knew his kids well, too.

But Debbie has made a statement saying she DOES NOT WANT custody of her kids, that she offered up her womb as a gift to Michael because he wanted children so badly, but that she has no motherly instincts and no wish to be a parent. She does not intend to see her kids ever again. That may be a horrible stance for her to take, but seeing as the kid's don't know her, she is pretty much a stranger and if she doesn't want them I doubt she'd bring them up well. I hope she doesn't get them, either. Oh, and the youngest kid would be split from them then, which could traumatize him.

These poor poor kids. Imagine the trauma of being convinced to wear masks from such a young age, developing a persecution complex then the only parent they've ever known dies and its splashed EVERYWHERE; the rest of his family is more interested in pulling out the cash he swept under the carpet, and the one to get custody did nothing when her husband beat the crap out of her son!
With all the opposition to gay unions and adoption maybe the world should consider than ANY adult who can provide a STABLE, loving home to a child is fit to be a parent irrespective of his/her sexual orientation.
The alternative is unfortunately these three kids, i hope they get help.
