Christian Bale does not have a reputation for being kind and courteous!
While filming his new movie, Public Enemies, with Johnny Depp, the actors barely talked!
"I wish to not talk unless we're doing the scene. I enjoy it that way. Johnny seemed happy to do it that way, too," Bale says. "So the answer is: No, we really didn't get to know each other better between each take."
Yikes!!
"So I guess I'll have to wait and get to know Johnny Depp someday," said Bale.
Maybe he just can't show his appreciation!
Bale claims he signed onto the project because in order to work with Depp and director Michael Mann.
"Michael Mann is one of the finest filmmakers around. His ability to excel at all aspects of filmmaking is stunning. I loved his thoroughness. I loved the research and his attention to detail. This is a director who has a unique perception of what every actor is doing at all moments," continues Bale. "I also did the film because I think Johnny is a superb actor. There is nobody else like him."
We hope they can be friends!
As long as Johnny stays clear of his eye line!!!!

When he works,he works! he usually doesn't hang out with other actors on set but if he acts with an actor with who plays a friend,he's more friendly! on "hash times" or "laurel canyon",he was very friendly with others.See Bonus DVD of his movies or "unscripted"with him and hugh jackman to promote "the prestige"movie,they explain that
he's a method actor. method actors remain in character for the duration of the project therefore they don't talk to other actors when not filming or on stage. it's not about being cold, it's about his style of acting. feel free to research it.

WELL if he wanted to work with Johnny Depp maybe he respected his work. MAYBE he was just being professional and into character… Apparently he wanted to be there and work with these people. I doubt he would say he was "superb" if he didn't believe it.
I am not fond of Christian Bale…at least the image of his persona that we are shown in the media. He seems like an irritable ass. That being said, I do think he's a good actor, and I do understand why some actors would prefer to have limited contact with other actors during the making of a film. I can see why it would make the role more *real.*

I hear they barely have any scenes together anyway; kinda like in "Heat" (ironically made by the same director) where Pacino and DeNiro only have maybe 10 min max of screen time together in a 2 hour+ movie.
I also overheard that Bale said to Depp "for fuck's sake you're an amateur…you and me are done professionally, man." Maybe I heard that wrong…
christian bale is an excellent actor. he hasnt sold out like johnny depp has (the lame pirate movies). johnny depp seems to try to hard to be edgy and cool and it comes off as being fake. this is coming from a former johnny depp fan.
i dont like how christian bale treated that person on the set of the terminator movie. there is NEVER an excuse to treat another human being that terrible.

im sure lots of us arent friends with everyone we work with. i really like the guy, and apart from his last melt down (which was wrong) hes always come across as a good guy. Unfortunately for him i think people will forever want to put him in this niche as an arse.

He's a very gifted actor who takes his craft incredibly seriously. He's doing what he needs to in order to deliver his usual brilliant performance. Don't tell him how to do his job.

Wow…if he really did say that (and it sort of seems like he would) then he's definitely got some social issues. However, he did do a really good job in Public Enemies. BUT if he's going to sport that attitude around, there might be more than a few awkward moments between him and other actors.
Truth be known a lot of actors are like this. I don't see Depp always buddying around with his costars nor do I expect him to. Grow up. They're working.
