Fans Of Jackson Stricken With Grief Commit Suicide

The president of one of Michael Jackson's fan clubs has revealed that at least 12 people have committed suicide because of the King of Pop's passing. Or so he claims.
Gary Taylor, the owner of MJJcommunity.com, believes 12 fans of Jackson have made the decision to take their own lives after hearing the devastating news.
"I know there has been an increase, I now believe the figure is 12," said Taylor on Monday. "It is a serious situation that these people are going through but Michael Jackson would never want this. He would want them to live."
Rev. Jesse Jackson has also reached out to fans via YouTube, "urging them not to 'self destruct.'"
Said Rev. Jackson: "We fall down sometimes, we get back up. That's the right thing to do. In Michael's name let's live together as brothers and sisters and not die apart as fools."
Remember that no matter how depressing and earth-shattering the death of a loved one feels, suicide is never the answer.
Talk to loved ones, professionals, help lines; there is always someone there to listen.

I knew this would happen…MJ's fans were some of the most devoted, and to them, he was everything. Really sad, how awful for their families and friends. Let's hope nobody else goes the same way. Have they set up counselling services for people (like they did when Take That split?)?

Holy shit! I knew Michael had millions of dedicated fans but I never thought some of them would go as far as killing themselves. I mean, it's like their only reason to live was Michael. People need to get a life, and I mean that in the nicest of ways. We can't rely on celebrities to bring us happiness because they will always let us down. In fact, don't rely on ANYONE, celeb or non-celeb, to bring you happiness.

As a longtime MJ fan very active in the fan community for nearly two decades, I have to say I'm shocked by this but also somewhat unsurprised. In any group of fans, there are always going to be a few that are completely out of reality. Do not in any way think that 12 people (if this is in fact the case) speak for the majority of fans, which number in the millions. Anytime there is any big celebrity death, there are fans that commit suicide. I remember that happening with Kurt Cobain and I'm sure it happened with Elvis and many others. During my years as a fan (which will continue long after this), I saw some people I can't shake. As much as my friends thought I was the biggest fan they'd ever seen, believe me, there are people far more devoted. People who get the tattoos, who followed him everywhere he went, and who couldn't view him as a human but as some sort of deity. Those are most likely the people who went off the deep end, the stalkers and people who couldn't view it in a healthy way. I agree Michael wouldn't want this. There's a story of a few fans that killed themselves over him in life, and Michael never forgot those stories and always felt guilty about it. I urge anyone thinking suicide is a good idea to get help. If there's one thing MJ has shown us, it's the tragic consequences of not getting help. RIP, MJ, and any fans extremist enough to do this. Seek comfort in other fans, we're all hurting too. This is NOT the answer.

There is no proof of this at all. Sorry. I've been on that forum for a while and though I've seen people who are deeply depressed by it, I have not once seen the proof that anyone has committed suicide. Most are still very much around, and the ones who left, left the forum for a while because they wanted to face the goodbye alone and in their own way. I've not seen one fraction of evidence that anyone actually killed themselves. This is sensationalist bullshit, just like most "news" about Michael always has been and still is.
