Michael Jackson Boosts Ratings Big Time!

wenn2478398betjackson.jpg

And in the least surprising MJ news of the week…

Sunday night's live broadcast of the BET Awards-turned-Jackson tribute drew 10.2 million viewers - most likely the highest-rated show in the history of the network!

Even though viewers panned the awards for being "distasteful and offensive," the viewership was up 61% from 2008's BET Awards.

Host Jamie Foxx received the most criticism from the broadcast for his constant self-promotion and distasteful sketch with comedian Martin Lawrence on a night transformed to honor the late King of Pop.

Did U watch the awards??

Thoughts????

Martin Lawrence? He's still doing stuff?
I guess not anymore after this show ._.

    2. 2

the BET Awards was ghetto and disrespectful. it could've been soooo much more better if they had Chris Brown, Usher, or Justin Timberlake. yeah, Ne-Yo was good but New Edition and Jamie Foxx made it horrible. the only good parts were when Janet came out and that was for like 2 minutes and Beyonce's performance. other than that, it sucked and BET should be ashamed.

    3. 3

The BEt Awards where great and Jamie did a great job so boom boom Pow

Worst BET Awards show EVER! They NEVER cared about Michael and just tried to hurry and capitalize off of his death along with the rest of his wretched family…yeah JANET too!

    5. 5

I watched and thought Beyonce was the best - very touching ….the young men doing the O'Jay's were outstanding….Janet coming on stage was soooo sad, but sweet - Jamie Foxx had way too much air time and got on my nerves. Alot of the show seemed patchy…but overall it was very good! Too little time to put together the way they wanted, surely….

    6. 6

      fuck BET!

    7. 7

      FIRST

    8. 8

i watched some of the BET awards. I thought that they were talking too much about how michael jackson was black rather than the amazing artist he was. anyways most of the music in the BET awards is rap and michael NEVER did a song with a rap artist. So it pretty much shows how things have gone downhill and music is good anymore.

    9. 9

      i agree distaseful

    10. 10

      eff that yo…
i thought the awards were great.
jamie did a good job and was super funny.
yea he did kinda perform twice…
and every other thing out of his mouth was "i'm goin on tour y'all"
      but overall… Great.

    11. 11

Beyonce was The BOMB great tribute by her to Michael. Jamie Fox i love his butt but and his act , it was a great show but in the end I was dissapointed by Janet Jackson talking about elected??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????and her Distasteful comment to you an icon ………………….but to us family bad choice of words unless she is making me think she is one of the MONEY MONEY MONEY diggers

    12. 12

omg i hardly ever watch the BET awards but this time i did.. it was sooooo but soooooo boring….the only reason i watched it was cuz of micheal..cant wait but cant wait for the MTV VIDEO MUSIC AWARDS>>>

    13. 13

      Finally

    14. 14

Show should've been renamed "Jamie Foxx Show" as it had little to do with MJ; the show didn't start until the O'Jay's came out and showed the previous non-singers how to sing and dance. Beyonce/Sasha's song was not bad, but the clothes did not fit the occasion. Seeing Joe Jackson there smiling and self-promoting was no surprise, ’cause that's who he is…seeing Janet really made the point of what the show was supposed to be about. All in all, a real flop.

p.s. Hope the hiphop artists take note and learn how to sing (except JayZ was supergroovey)

    15. 15

Jamie Foxx’s tribute was a mockery. It was nonsense at best. I understand they had 2.5 days to put something together, but why not have Jaime simply read from a teleprompter to share MJ’s accomplishments and how MJ broke down color barriers, or why not have a non buffoon say something of substance since Jaime wants to act as if he doesn't know better. I didn’t like Jaime stating MJ belonged to Black America, and we decided to share him with the world, please!! The world was watching; he wasted an opportunity to say something of substance. The tone Jaime decided to use was terrible. No substance, nada! I'm all for celebrating a life, but come on… Did you see the Filipino prison dancers? They put a decent tribute together in less than a day. I know they didn’t have anything else to do (lol), but mediocrity should not be accepted.

    16. 16

I didn't watch it and the only reason why I would have was because of the tribute and I heard it was terrible (guess I didn't miss anything). I'm pretty anti BET in general though so……

    17. 17

Re: aed1234 – incorrect! Michael did "Jam" with Heavy D and "Black or White" with another one of those rap guys

    18. 18

this show was so lame! i watched the whole thing waiting for something good to happen and it just kept getting worse and worse. i didn't like anyone but Ne-Yo, Beyonce, and Ciara.

    19. 19

Re: superduperyo Exactly. On a night where they could have shined, not only with the MJ tribute, but to all viewers, black and white and inbetween - they chose stupid childish humor (boa constrictor… really?), and all those "tributes" was Ne-Yo and 3 (or was it 4?) performances by Jamie Foxx. Beyonce was the ONLY one that was anywhere close to the magnitude of a tribute performance (though that whole wire giant see through dress was fugs). I didn't see much in ANY way of a tribute except two acts and Jamie making inappropriate jokes. And the stupid acting on stage by some of the presenters - only furthers stereotypes of the loud ghetto people as reps of the black community and it's disgusting.

    20. 20

Re: MarleyRai – Lol I know! They had a Michael sign and eveything!

    21. 21

i am a black person and watching the bet awards was embarassing. the show was ghetto and in poor taste.watching souljah boy,lil wayne and t-pain perform made me cringe. at times jaime foxx was funny but how many times did we have to hear about his upcoming tour? plus i didnt like the comment about how us black people shared mj with the rest of the world. i don't think that we should marginalize mj as a black artist. he was an artist who was loved by the world and he happened to be black. i thought new edition sounded a hot mess.beyonce sounded pretty good but i didn't get her outfit and i thought she should have performed a mj song.neyo was cool but he performed like 3 or 4 times too many.after watching the show it was obvious to me that bet just wanted to capitalize off mj's death. if they wanted to do a real tribute then they would have just took the time to do so. there is no way you can have a real tribute w/o usher, justin timberlake, robin thicke, mariah carey, diana ross, stevie wonder, etc.

    22. 22

It was ugly. Plain ugly. They should have waited to do it right for Michael instead of putting together a bunch of thrown together half ass tributes sung by the same people over and over (although I enjoyed Usher). As for Jamie Foxx. No respect for him…he even went into the audience and said "this is for Michael" and promoted his upcoming tour dates in the next breath. WTF. And don't get me started on Beyonce's mess of a performance. Oh dear. A real Shame. MJ was good to them and they did him wrong.

    23. 23

I watched only for Michael. It was painful to sit through the rest! Jamie Foxx was distateful by mentioning Michael's different nose jobs, I didn't like the way he was gently making fun of him. I thought the tribute could have been WAY better than it was but considering they only had 3 days to prepare I guess BET did what they could. Honestly, where was Chris Brown with those amazing dance moves? Jamie Foxx did not pull off the moon walk at all. BET is low quality network, it sucked–but was watched for MJ

    24. 24

MarleyRai well said!!! He tried to break down color borders and here we have Jaime Foxx saying how "He was ours"! This annoyed me so much! This blatantly went against what Michael stood for!!! His kids are white! what are they doing??? This is how they honor him by disrespecting what he stood for?? They could have done a better job! C'mon!

    25. 25

      Re: limey01Re: limey01 – I meant I enjoyed Neyo not Usher…we needed Usher there..

    26. 26

Beyonce's perfomance was moving! And she genuinely appeared distraught over MJ's death. BUT HONeSTLY THE OJAYS….ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

    27. 27

it SUCKED. i watched less than half of it, putting michael jackson shirts on doesn't show a tribute and making people who can't dance, dance like michael? it was HORRIBLE. If i was michael i'd be offended!

    28. 28

Jamie Foxx is a downright fucking idiot. Beyonce is an off key cow. But really, Jamie Foxx as host? His days of In Living Color are long over… he a shameless prick now. Fuck them all. Long live the KING OF POP!!!!! MICHAEL FOREVER.

    29. 29

It was tacky that Jamie Foxx turned it into the Jamie Foxx show…I tuned in just to see how other artists would pay tribute.

    30. 30

AED1234 this is untrue, michael has callaborated with a few rappers listen to his song "jam" or "give in to me" he was with slim thug. Jamie Foxx=FAIL!!!! he is sstupid and his jokes were inappropriate. Joe Jackson looks like an old alley cat and he should be ashamed of himself, he will get his on his day of reckoning. I miss Michael so much and I cant help but think that he was not a pervert but merely misunderstood. I vote we petition his tribute be made with artists that truely exemplify his influence, NOT JAMIE FOXX, but Neyo Justin Timberlake Usher and Chris Brown Ciara and maybe omarion

    31. 31

Ciara's "Heal the World" moved me more than Beyonce's tribute. I think it was that awful white thing she was wearing….why?? a simple white dress would have been tasteful and sufficient. and there was no reason for Jamie Foxx to perform that many times. definitely could have been done better. hopefully the upcoming tribute concert will do MJ justice.

    32. 32

Re: daniel008 – Me too that's the only reason i watched the show , because of Michael Jackson

    33. 33

Re: Gator81 – Wow, I didn't even know that song Beyonce was singing was a tribute to MJ>

    34. 34

Re: prettyinpink6 – Lets face it……..Jamie Fox is not a dancer and could not do the moon walk . The attempt he made he almost fall off the stage . ………………………so he had no choice but to try and turn it into a joke .All i am happy about is Michael Jackson overshadowed the show ….just that you know ghetto people will always remain ghetto even when they are RICH…………………. remember the parable ?put a pig in a castle it still remain a pig………………that's why Pig Flu is spreading so fast………………..

      PS

If you noticed like me most of the classy people were not present at the show

    35. 35

I agree it was pretty ghetto but on such short notice, i dont think there was much more BET could have done. As for Jamie Foxx, i say he wasnt good or bad but he certainly didnt seem to be "self-promoting"! People are just all about pointing fingers these days!

    36. 36

The awards show was amateurish in some respects. Jamie Foxx can't ad lib and he was profane and disrespectful when he tried. It should've been more scripted. The lights were too glaring, there were too many standing ovations, and did Zoe Saldana really have to tell us that the original Lieutenant Uhura was in the bathroom?? Awards were presented but only the winners got mentioned. It would've been nice to know who the competitors were.

I realize that MJ's death took us all by surprise, but this awards show did not rise to the occasion. And I wasn't pleased to see Joe Jackson, the paterfamilias, there, either. One performer nearly lost his pants, they were slung so low. Ne-Yo did well, and a handful of others. But even Beyonce was a disappointment.

Hip hop is dead. The songs on this show were not memorable. Michael Jackson's music, on the other hand, will live on.

    37. 37

The EBT awards sucked major C*ck and made black people look like coons…all performances suck…..Bey was on her diva kick….keri cant dance a two step and HOVA should not perform DOA….

    38. 38

The EBT awards sucked major C*ck and made black people look like coons…all performances suck…..Bey was on her diva kick….keri cant dance a two step and HOVA should not perform DOA..

    39. 39

they did a terrable job of a tribute

    40. 40

I never watch BET and the ONLY reason I turned it on was in hopes that they'd do something dignified FOR ONCE. Alas, I was disappointed again. I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm not feeling jovial about Michael Jackson's death. And not that we needed to all sit around and cry for 2 hours, but damn. Couldn't they have done something SPIRITUAL with the event? It was ghetto and most of the performers there couldn't sit in the same stadium with Michael Jackson, much less do a tribute to him. Ne-Yo was very good, but he was alone in that. Beyonce was out of her lane trying to sing Ave Maria, a Chrismas song made for someone with a far greater voice than she'll ever have. And it would have been nice if she'd had herself respectfully covered before she went into singing a religious song. This was a last-minute attempt, I know, but they should have scheduled a different broadcast that they could have done correctly. Bottom line: HATED IT!!!

    41. 41

.I think the name should be changed..if we had the white entertainment awards all hell would break out….this is 2009…lets once and for all stop race discrimination ….that includes anything that asks what your ethnicity is…..HUMAN is the only thing anyone ever needs to answer to that

    42. 42

I watched the awards and was really disappointed. The show was promoted as a "Tribute" to MJ but the show came across as last minute, half ass, and GHETTO! MJ deserved WAAAY MORE respect than that. Where were Quincy, Diana Ross, Gladis Night..ya know the greats??!?!?! Instead we get ghetto thug lil wayne and a bunch of artists who think b/c they have a couple of number 1s they're the sh*t.

Also, I was offended by Jaime Fox's comments on MJ "belonging to the black community" and the black community loaned him out to the rest of us. Where were you Jaime and other African American artists when MJ was at his lowest, when he was going through the trial???? The only person I remember seeing at the trials besides his family was Chris Tucker.

MJ might have come out of the black community BUT Michael Jackson was TRULY LOVED AND CARED FOR BY HIS FANS OF ALL COLORS!

      Eat that Jaime

    43. 43

bet is racist and so is their stupid award show. if i want to see pieces of poop dressed up i'll watch mr hanky.

    44. 44

I only watched for the same reason 99.99999% of people watched: BET leaked a rumor that Chris Brown would be performing a tribute. New Edtion opening was sloppy and unfortunate. The rest not much better. I have not watched a BET awards show ever and only watched this time so I would not miss Chris Brown.

    45. 45

the show was good. jaime foxx was funny for the most part. some of his were not good. Shanane and wanda were funny. most music was good. wtf was beyonce thinking with that performance. considering that alot of changes were made the BET Awards were pretty good.

    46. 46

The BET Awards were a sham. They used Michael's name for promotion. They said they were extending the show 30 minutes to acommadate the tribute, but couldn;t have spent more than 10 minutes on him. It was shameful and I'm embarrassed for BET.

    47. 47

i saw it it was bad it was not good at all i though it was going to be good but no to me keri, janet and the skit with martin was the best and all the boy bands coming out other then that it was bad debra lee is a stuped bicth she need help for put on more realy tv shows like what the fuck.

    48. TZS says – reply to this

      48

      the show SUCKED so bad

    49. 49

Jamie Foxx is a RACIST~!!!!! How dare he say that anyone OWNS MJ. People should not BELONG to other people.

Perhaps he should have thought about MJ's WHITE children. SHOULD I SCREAM OUT LOUD THAT A WHITE MAN OWNED THEM FIRST?

      JAMIE FOXX IS A PIG!

    50. 50

BET Awards was ghetto and disrespectful.
      they all suck!
      monkeys!!
      worse everrrr!!
      ewwwwwwww
wot a waste of time and space.

    51. 51

BET,JAmie Foxx and all of them should be ashamed of them selfs after that night.
i have no respect for nither of them after this circus performance
      ewwwwwwwwwww

    52. 52

STOP HATIN ON THE EBT NETWORK C'MON NOW GO BACK TO CLOWNING THE REAL MEDIA WHORES!!!!!

    53. 53

they put that show together in like 3 days
the show was mostly about michael but the every aspect wasn't about him
the point of the show was to CELEBRATE his life and just because every part of it didn't make you cry doesn't mean it was disrespectful
what is disrespectful is the media releasing all this stuff that michael had secret for a reason
its like as soon as he's gone we have the right to invade the privacy that was so important to him and bring out every detail of his life

    54. 54

I didn't watch the show but I did watch some clips on Youtube, and what I saw was enough.
Jamie Foxx was funny but it was racist towards the white community. He was saying stuff like "Michael Jackson belongs to us". Well, last time I heard people wanted equality between whites and blacks, and they were clearly separting the races into divisions. And why are white people not allowed to attend that awards show?
Imagine if there was a channel and an awards show called WET (White Entertainment Television), then the whites would be racist. But since it's BET, then it's fine. Some people may say that all the other channels like Fox, CNN, ABC, NBC or TSN are WET but they really need to watch tv more often.

It is really sad that they were celebrating Michael and his legacy but completely contradicting his message.

It's funny that the same people that accused him for disobeying the law are the same ones celebrating him. Why couldn't we appreciate him while he was alive? He must have passed away thinking that more people hated him than liked him.

Michael Jackson will forever remain the King Of Pop.

    55. 55

      Re: BellaMuranoGlassJewelry

you are a very stupid person.
its called the BET awards because its aired on BET and it specifically acknowledges black (and mixed like alicia keys and mariah) entertainers
it was created when there were no stations that would play black music and is still here because even though it is 2009 racism is not gone

    56. 56

the only thing i really didn't like was don cornelius taking 3 hours to introduce the Ojays and the end of Keri Hilsons performance was reaalllly weird
just because they didn't do the whole tribute together doesn't mean it wasn't there
if you combined every performance of a michael/jackso five song, all the pictures and video shown of him, every time his name was mentioned you'd have quite a bit of tribute

    57. 57

it was worst than usual. the worst part wasn't the half ass mj tribute but lil wayne and drake's performance with his preteen daughter and her friends on stage. how are singing a song a fu***n every girl when there's a little girl in a tutu on stage.

    58. 58

The show was good, and Jamie was hilarious. The sketch with Martin and Jamie was a welcome relief from the overall sadness of the event. People love to talk shit. They need to calm the fuck down.

    59. 59

I am African American and I thought the show was OK, but nothing special. I actually did enjoy the Shaneneh/Wanda sketch with Martin Lawrence and I thought it was HILARIOUS….I was bummed when I realized that it was a joke and not a real movie preview….Beyonce was boring, she should've sung "Diva" or "Broken Hearted Girl". AND ONE MORE QUESTION–WHY DIDN'T THEY ANNOUNCE THE NOMINEES FOR EACH AWARD–ALL THEY DID WAS ANNOUNCE THE WINNER—WTF!!!!!!!!!

    60. 60

why oh why would the awards show allow jamie fox to run wild?i,stopped watching after his first tasteless remark.

    61. 61

i saw it, but i tho't it was terrible… Jamie Foxx performed like 5 times. wtf is that?! WAY too much self-promotion. and they shoulda had Usher and/or Chris Brown do a tribute to MJ. and the whole thing was just sloppy… this year was one of the worst BET Awards.

Beyoncé, Jay-Z and Maxwell kept it from being a complete disaster.

    62. 62

WOAH THERE!! Calm down people!! This was last minute remember!! He died Thursday, show was on Sunday!! They did the best they could with the time allotted!! And Im proud of them!! Yessss Jamie was super self promoting, but with all the stories and NE-YO!! Are you kidding me. I loved it!! Jay-Z Rocked it as always!! And when Maxwell was like " Fly Away Mr. Michael Jackson!" I cried!! Superb JOB BET!!! ( Oh and BTW Usher was in Paris and Chris Brown isn't making any public appearances any time soon.)

    63. 63

i thought the skit with jamie & martin was hilarious. but i guess thats because i was a fan of both martin & in living color.

i was sick of seeing jamie foxx && ne yo though. pissed that chris brown didnt perform. i mean don cornelious was on stage and he beat his wife too, but i guess BET didnt wanna lose the cover girl sponsor aye?!?

what people do and dont do for money….smh

    64. 64

Jamie Foxx is a self-inflated ignorant moron with a bigger ego than Kanye West - if that's possible. As for you payrez, you don't care about Michael Jackson. All this false sympathy you go on with makes me ill - you just jumped on the popular bandwagon as usual. The most purely talented soul that ever lived - that was Michael Jackson and he hadn't one ounce of ego that is why we all loved him. As for you Payrez when you croak it you'll be lucky to make two lines in the Dogpatch Gazette because you are a fake - a rotten parasite - and you are shameless. Tribute?? None of you were fit to wipe his boots

    65. 65

They were embarrassing. Jamie Foxx was irreverent and crass and the awards show turned from what was supposed to be a tribute to Michael Jackson into a foul-mouthed, raunchy, typical BET production. Instead of the awards show being a succor for the Jackson family, it most-likely left them uneasy and heartbroken; I was and Mj wasn't even a famiyl member of mine.

    66. 66

Jamie Foxx and his FoxxHole crap is doomed. After the distasteful and uncalled for Miley Cyrus comments aired in the media, I refused to see his new movie or support anything he does in the future.

    67. 67

      I like that poster

    68. 68

i agree, they could've come up with a wayyyyyyyyy better tribute, but im sure mtv will not dissapoint at their next award show … they couldve gotten a bunch of celebreties together do we are the world, man in the mirror, human nature,, something motivational… instead of mimicking his style.. and plugging their own shit… whats up with mj's dad he was plugging his shit too hopefully the king of pop is finally comfortable and resting peacefully

    69. 69

oh they werent the BET awards they were
the Jamie foxx and neyo concert

    70. 70

the thing that annoyed me the most about the BET awards was that they only announced the winners, and not the nominees, for a large majority of the categories. also, it was WAAAY to ghetto. i mean, did you SEE t.i.'s girlfriend when she was announcing? the epitome of ghetto-ness. and i say this as a proud black person. and soulja boy gets on my fuckin' nerves. he can't rap for shit, and his songs are terrible. i'm seriously waiting for him to fade into oblivion, or get shot due to gang-related issues.

    71. 71

Ok, I thought the awards could have been better. I appreciated that the mood was kept light, however. The show wasn't about trying to mourn his death all over again, but to celebrate his legacy. I don't think it was awful, I think the fact that he died Thursday and the show was Sunday played a major role in the final outcome. BET did what they could. As for Jamie, I like him, and he forewarned everyone before the awards on the Foxxhole that he was gonna be pushing the envelope. I'm sure he didn't think anyone besides Black ppl were gonna be watching the awards show because, who ever does? Either way, I don't think his "he belongs to us" comment was necessary, but I wouldn't take it seriously either. I don't think MTV could do a better job. I think their awards suck worse than BET's and I'm glad BET did what they could. They fell short in a couple areas, it wasn't perfect, but nothing is ever perfect and it was a short amount of time. I wish everyone would stop being so extreme and just get over themselves. Yes, Jamie was way too self-promoting, but I wouldn't say I would never support him again. That's stupid.

    72. 72

I have never tuned into BET for anything ever. The only reason I watched the show was because it was for MJ and I always look forward to a performance by Beyonce! Jamie Fox as usual did self promote but that is not new. I find him to be a cocky sob. As for the rest of the show I think they put together some good stuff given the time they had. Stand outs were obvious Ne-Yo and Beyonce. They did what they could, can't blame them.

    73. 73

I already gave my thoughts Sunday Night! Janet was the most heartfelt there. And she did not sit in the audience. She said what she had to say was short!
And believe me it was. She said her entire family wanted to be there to HONOR Michael but was too shaken to come. So, they ELECTED her to attend with their thanks to the fans and people who supported them. She said to US he is an ICON but to them he is FAMILY! Poor girl had to be helped from the stage. Took her a couple minutes just to open her mouth. Then they sang I'll be there. Perez it would be nice if you showed Janet coming out and Jamie Fox and Neyo and the audience singing I'll be there. There was not a dry eye in the place. Including mine!

    74. 74

Re: Moni87 – One of them was Tyrese from the Movie Transformer. I did not know he could sing that good!

    75. 75

Re: book.daisy – Well said! I have a french mother and an Irish/Native American father. It does not matter if you are black or white.
He was for ALL PEOPLE! On another curious note his song she is out of my
life was about Ryan O'Neal's daughter Tatum. She and Michael were an item in the day. It's sad because on that day Tatum lost Michael and Farrah. I hope she is doing well. Brooke Shields made me cry she was so upset and they too had a friendship. So, the list goes on and on. Just sayin..It was also stated that RiRi would be there I was hoping to see her too.

    76. 76

Perez, you shouldn't write about Michael Jackson until you apologize for accusing him of faking his death in the first place. Take responsibility for what you've said.

    77. 77

It was absolutely horrible. Jamie foxx's jokes were so classless and the entire show was thrown together. They should have waited to honor Michael in the proper way. The best part was when janet came out and spoke. It was a waste of four hours.

    78. 78

      Re: aed1234

I do agree that those bet awards were tacky but
Heavy D is a rap artist. . . so maybe you shouldn't say NEVER
Michael Jackson was an influence to many different musical genres

      as a side note:
Black people do not "own" Michael Jackson (his influence is for everyone) and jamie fox looked fat and ridiculous doing (mocking michael) the moonwalk in that out fit he could not ever come close

How many times did we need to be reminded that Michael Jackson is black by Jamie Foxx? for serious, WE KNOW, every one who loved/s him does not give a crap bout his color.

i changed the channel after 30 minutes, only time i ever watch BET is maybe for a rerun of Smart Guy or another sitcom (tv is sooooo shitty!!!!!!!!!!!)
i hate that channel, and i am black

    80. 80

I hate Jamie fox the guy is an Ass, only saw his clips and they made me cringe, Marleyrai totally agree with what you are saying. i wish the man would shut up about the colour of peoples skin.

    81. 81

the BET network im general is bottom of the barrel And black ppl wonder why the are perceived in a negative light. Really shame on you BET for perpetuating this image

    82. 82

notice how all the artists who would have truly honored Michael were not there: Diana Ross, Quincy Jones, Rod Temperton, Gladys Knight (who discovered them), Usher, Justin Timberlake, Ashford & Simpson, Whitney Houston, Patti Austin, Mariah Carey, even Chris Brown (and though he would have been controversial, he's always shown his admiration for Michael…besides, Don Cornelius was charged with assaulting his partner and he PRESENTED an award??? wtf??)…none were there…wonder why! Beyonce had no need to dress in that outfit…with a voice as hers, she should take note from Sade, dress from head-to-toe and we'll respect it more!

    83. 83

      BET is a joke.

    84. 84

      Re: MarleyRai
You go girl, I totally agree. You made a great comment.

    85. 85

      Re: nikkiluv123
      HAHAHAHAHAHA..you're hilarious. I totally agree

    86. 86

      Re: mimi28
Oh shut up and get over it

    87. 87

The BET award show was terrible. I was so badly put together!! I don't care what anyone says Beyonce's performance was terrible and incredibly disrespectful…I mean really, singing the AVE MARIA while wearing that crap, plus she just didn't sound good.. Jaime thought the show was all about him..and lets not mention all the phoney *ss people thanking MJ for being their inspiration..no one was repping MJ for years all they did is provide jokes about him.. I hope that VH1 does a better tribute show cuz this one sucked..

    88. 88

I watched..and it was ok. Some of it. Beyonce was pretty good. It was what a tribute should look like. Keri Hilson, u need more practice with singing and high intensity dance. Love her though! lol Ciara, Ciara, Ciara…stick to dancing my dear. You are NOT a singer. Someone should have called Social Services on Lil Wayne for having his daughter on stage while they wish on fuckin every girl in the world. Not cool guys…not cool.

    89. 89

Re: sheba088 – uhh yeah, He had an album or two out a few years ago.

    90. 90

      it sucked major ass!!

    91. 91

Jamie fox keeps color lines alive, why would he feel it necessary to say Michael was a black man and the black folk lent him to the world? He also went on to say that we have a black president, no shit America voted for him, not just the black community. I will never watch anything with Jamie Fox again.

    92. 92

Dirty cash very well said and so true, i cant take the cock seriously anymore, notice he didnt claim MJ when the allegations came out, he makes me want to throw things at my telly

    93. 93

It is Too Bad - But - the Talent was Not Anywhere near Michael Jackson's Calibre!!

      It was Pathetic!

    94. 94

Re: MarleyRai – Excellent point made! That chanel as a whole is a travesty. Thank god I dvr'd it and was able to fastforward through the whole thing! And who told Beyonce that her clothes were appropriate! and that she could sing opera? Horrible and shameful presentation.

    95. 95

ok ok ok -i agree, but this was the BET awards…not a TRIBUTE to MICHAEL JACKSON. Im sure if & when they do DO A TRIBUTE show-it will be MUCH MUCH better-a way to CELEBRATE his life, not MOCK him. THE BET AWARDS DID SUCK THIS YEAR. COULD HAVE DONE A WWAAAAYYY BETTER JOB. dont care if they only had 2 1/2 days!!they pay people ALOT of money to write these shows. FOR THE RECOREd-IT WAS DISTASTEFUL & OFFENSIVE!
