Quincy Jones Won't Attend MJ'S Funeral

While fans and family alike prepare to say their final farewells to the King of Pop, Quincy Jones says he won't be attending the funeral for Michael Jackson.

A close friend and music producer for MJ, Quincy confesses that he has spent too much of his life mourning the deaths of his friends.

"I won't go to any more funerals as long as I live," he says. "I can't handle it."

We're sure it is a terribly difficult time for everyone and we hope that Quincy, as well as all of MJ's family and friends, find a way to grieve in their own ways.

Yeah, old people don't like funerals, it reminds them of their immortality. Death is a major fear for a lot of the elderly.

    3. 3

I think YES people find ways to grieve. Duh. Your hope. Cliche.
Perez you are so cloying and transparent when you try to behave.
We still remember what you did and want to do to will.i.am.

      Drop all your lawsuits.
      Save your own sorry ass.
      Get a clue.
      Stay OUT of court.

omg he totally needs to go to the funeral, how would he like it if no one went to his funeral. funerals are full of some sad thoughts but also memories of hapiness. this is such a cop out.

Re: tick_tock_tick_tock – are you fucking serious? he did not, i repeat, DID NOT molest or rape anyone. you are so fucking ignorant. the guy that said Michael "molested" him confessed and said that his father made him lie so they can get out of poverty. don't believe me? then google it bitch! and please, the man died, grow a fucking heart. you are truly a disgusting human being.

    6. 6

Interesting, I would imagine the collapse of his magazine "Vibe" and Michael's money no longer being available to him have something to do with this. It all seems suspicious to me. The decision lacks all respect and dignity especially since no one knows of any funeral arrangements yet.

    7. 7

Funerals are about giving support to the living.

    8. 8

anyone who claims that Michael was a molester is merely speculating. Unless you witnessed the crime you are nothing but an egotistical loud mouth. What do you know about Michael Jackson?????Why would you judge him to be something so awful. To the world he is an entertainer, comments should be limited to how he impacted your life as an entertainer, or perhaps as a philanthropist but what moron would spout off about something so hideous not knowing the facts. People can be so hateful!

Re: lovernotahater – You said it.

    10. 10

This isn't about YOU, Quincy Jones, this is about your friend Michael and paying respects to his existence. YOU can't handle funerals? So all the deaths of your friends were about YOU? What about them? Selfish bastard.

    11. 11

OH GIRL!!!! she looks way old….she is about to kick bucket..

    12. 12

Re: lovernotahater – I agree with you. I doubt he did molest anyone and he is being punished for being eccentric and quirky. His worse offense in life was being a social nonconformist and shame on people for making false accusations.

    13. 13

He's not being selfish. He has given his condolences and payed his respects to Jackson. He just wants to remember Michael as he was ALIVE he doesn't want to see his friend in a box DEAD and I don't blame him I been to enough funerals to understand where he is coming from.

    14. 14

I think he knows it going to be a freakfest. I don't blame him for wanting to avoid the circus.

    15. 15

It's probably going to be a circus, and very long and drawn out. Quincy's old, and it will probably be very emotionally difficult for him. Let him be, people!!!

    16. 16

damn i can understand i hate seeing people i love at funerals just laying there life less just thinking damn i was just talking to him

RIP may he finally be at peace

Yeah, old people don't like funerals, it reminds them of their immortality. Death is a major fear for a lot of the elderly.

      UH, DON'T YOU MEAN 'MORTALITY'?

    18. 18

I understand why people *skip* funerals. One of my Grandma's best friends didn't go to her funeral. She and her husband just didn't *do* funerals. No one found it offensive at all. Everyone has his or her own way.

    19. 19

Good for him, it's going to be a circus anyway.

    20. 20

poor guy. i know how he feels

    21. 21

Funeral are a celebration of life! How that person is loved and lived. Sometimes unless it's real bad it's good to honor them and say goodbye.

But, I respect his decision. We will all miss Michael Jackson most of us anyway! Prayers to his mother and children and family!

    22. 22

it's sad that blacks are pressured to go to other black people's funerals.

    23. 23

Re: stellagranos – OOPS! Yep, actually I meant "own mortality" but alas no edit feature as far as I know. :)

    24. 24

Ya as they say "LET THE DEAD BURY THE DEAD" what's up with us and celebrating death so much!?

    25. 25

      Re: dustslays
I know what you mean here!! it's babylon's ways.

    26. 26

I feel so sorry for Quincy. He really cared about Michael. So very very sad.

    27. 27

      Re: superduperyo
And because you say it ain't so…makes it so?? How would you know that he didn't do it?

      28

      I dont blame him

    29. 29

Michael got rid of Quincy Jones after failure of Bad to outsell Thriller.

Do you think Quincy was OK with that?

    30. 30

      ='(

    31. 31

He probably felt bad about beating on Michael when they were making 'Thriller'

    32. 32

selfish prick.. all about me me me

    33. 33

i say GOOD ON HIM…respected move, sir!

    34. 34

      Re: YUCK
i actually think it would be too painful for him…Michael and he were really close and sometimes it's best for those to grieve in private…it's a respectful move, i feel

    35. 35

      Re: doenut

      i hear you doenut…agree wholeheartedly

    36. 36

      Re: Big Gulp

agree…and he was a TRUE actual friend, so a circus would be hard to take

    37. 37

You have to go Quincy……………you just do………….. No one wants to die and no one wants to see their friends die but it is a reality that we are all destined to die and we hope that our friends and family are there to say goodbye and remember us . Maybe he feels MJ was no longer his friend……………..

    38. 38

HIs fans are grieving too…I still cry everyday…what a horrible loss. RIP Michael

    39. 39

""I won't go to any more funerals as long as I live," he says. "I can't handle it."

I thought I was the only one that felt that way about funerals. I certainly understand, Mr. Jones.

    40. 40

Re: lovernotahater – Quincy doesn't own Vibe and hasn't for years but is currently trying to negotiate to buy it back. When Emil Wilbekin(sp?) left the magazine, so did the air of class it once held. Now it's as ghetto as XXL and that's a goddamn shame!!

    41. 41

      Re: doenut – Well said!!!!!

    42. 42

no need to grieve….rejoice and celebrate…another pedophile has left this earth for good!!!!!!!!!!!

Just because he was rich and famous did not make it right…..

    43. 43

      .
Can't blame him at all for avoiding Michael's funeral.
Quincy is probably sick of the bizarre psycho-circus already going on ..

    44. 44

I don't blame Quincy for not going to Michaels funeral.
Funerals are just too hard and painful to deal with.
I'm sure Michaels funeral will turn out to be a circus as it is.
      RIP Michael… :(

    45. 45

I agree. Staring at a dead body is so freaking morbid. I much prefer services that celebrate life w. pics and videos that evoke good memories to staring at a cold, lifeless slab of dead meat to cry over.

      46

I totally understand how he feels. Since my mother's sudden, untimely passing I've felt the same way. It's entirely too hard. It took me a long time, but now I've started to attend funerals again. B/c of it though I've decided to harvest all my organs when I die, be cremated and demand no funeral service whatsoever.

    47. 47

How can one ever truly say goodbye to Michael? I feel this way and never met him. I could only imagine if I had known MJ for years. Quincy we understand.

    48. 48

Everyone grieves and accepts death in their own way. I myself hate funerals as well, but sometimes you have to get over things and as others have sated be there to support.
