RIP: Selena Boutique Closes

The Selena Boutique in her hometown of Corpus Christi, Texas, is now officially closing its doors forever, making for one less stop on the unofficial Selena tour.

Rumors had been circulating regarding the boutique's closing, but on Monday, the rumors became true.

Selena's father, Abe Quintanilla, had kept the boutique open 14 years after his daughter's death as a sign of respect since it was hers. The economy, as well as Q Productions' priorities led to its closing.

Items from the boutique, however, will be available at the Selena museum gift shop and others will be available on the Q Productions website.

damn, I didn't know she had a boutique. Sad that it's closing. If I ever was there and knew about it I would have went.

  8. 8

I used to live in san antonio and got into a car crash on the way there. I didnt know she had one in corpus.

  9. 9

    RIP Selena!!! so sad

  10. 10

    LOVE HER SOOO MUCH

  11. 11

Yep its closed. I live here in corpus. Now all she has is that weird statue of herself by the bay.

  12. 12

I was born and raised in Corpus and still live here. The Selena Boutique wasn't stocked with Selena products - it was just a clothing store with her name on it. And they weren't cute clothes. I think it was just an afterthought, and since the family isn't making money off it anymore, they don't care to keep it up. Those people exploit their dead child worse than Joe Jackson. This isn't really sad - the store was not what Selena's vision had been, and it hadn't been cared for in a long time.

On the pic..that the ring yolanda gave her

  14. 14

I cannot stand that face of hers. I wish she didn't die so everyone could see her now as just another fat singer.

    Re: RiRiStarlett

Wasn't this meant for me you dumb fucking dishwasher??

Selena's daddy is just mad he can't make more cash off his dead daughter…Time to get the leaf blower out huh papi?

  16. 16

That store was trashy! We actually saw some fat girl taking a dump in the dressing room!

  17. 17

hmm well to make it this far without her even here is incredible. first of all she wasn't around to keep the clothes up to date and i doubt the father or mother kept her fashion line going, if anything they just had t-shirts, hats, etc. with her name on them. so sad, but regardless of this boutique or not she's still going to be remembered for her music.

  18. 18

She is another who left too soon. Sure do miss her. Maybe it was her father's way of keeping her alive. He loved his daughter. Very sad.

Re: CorpitosTX – v I agree. I worked at a record shop the morning she was killed (in Corpus). All of her album went fast. Her father came out and said that they wouldn't be releasing any more of her albums… a few weeks later he went back on his word and Selena was singing from her grave… for his profit. Yea, and her statue on the bay looks like a hooker looking for work. Seriously..

Re: RiRiStarlett – What the fuck was that all about? Not my fault no one went to the store… sorry it's such a sore spot for you.

  21. 21

LOL Amber, don't worry, you are totally right :)

  22. 22

I love Selena, most of the people who went to the boutique were tourists and hardcore Selena fans.

I am surprised it stayed opened for as long as it did!

We love you Selena, your legacy will never die and you continue to inspire!

    RIP

  28. 28

i'm from corpus, no one ever went in or out of that place. I think people are over that whole idolizing a dead signer only because she was from our city phase, thankfully. Her father only closed the shop because he is tired of fronting the bill, his music "label" isn't doing anything 'important' that he needs to focus on.

  32. 32

Abe Quintanilla is pathetic. I too am a Corpus native and remember when Selena died. Her father has tried to get soooooo many things named after her. The statue is a joke and I cringe seeing it everytime I go back home. She was that typical singer that gets know AFTER they've died. They tried to name a school after her that she DROPPED OUT OF!!!! They were going to name a street after her. Her voice was beautiful but I wasn't a fan of her image. Wearing bedazzeled bras on stage??? My mother had the "pleasure" of working with her uncle who was a total douche and used to yell "YOU KNOW WHO MY FAMILY IS!!!?!?" Who cares!!! I am glad the shop closed. I never saw anyone shop there so in a way it was a waste of space. I think I went in there ONCE and you could tell that no one was taking care of it. Her entire family has ridden her coattail the entire time and I am glad that now its time for them to maybe create their OWN coattail and actually let her rest.
Its not right for families to take advantage of their dead family members like they have. I won't even start on the JOE JACKSON BS!!!!!

  33. 33

    That's so sad :(

  34. 34

    AWW that's horrible!

  35. 35

Sad…i've always wanted to go there. :( She was so beautiful!
