VERY Potent Drug Found In Michael's Home!

Filed under: Drugs > Michael Jackson

michael_jackson_roundup_19___opt1.jpg

Sources are now claiming that a severe and dangerous drug used for surgical anesthesia was found at the residence of Michael Jackson. Those same sources suggest that it may have very well been this drug that resulted in the pop legend's demise.

The substance, Propofol, is used to place patients under anesthesia when preparing for surgery. Administered through an IV, the drug is commonly used coincidingly with Lidocaine, as Propofol alone causes extreme pain and burning. One report stated that Lidocaine was found near Jackson's body. Commonly, a major side-effect of Propofol is cardiac arrest if it's taken in combination with narcotic painkillers, which have also been connected to Jackson.

Reports have suggested that Jackson had once begged a nurse for a brand name version of Propofol, claiming he needed it for insomnia, but she declined to supply it. In fact, it would have been damn near impossible for Jackson to get his hands on this drug without a medical advisor. As one source said, "There is no conceivable way this drug can be properly prescribed for home use."

Of course, this then points fingers back to to Jackson's doctor, Dr. Conrad Murray . Sources suggest that because of the drug is so dangerous and inappropriate for home administration, if a physician gave it to Jackson and it resulted in his death,he or she could be prosecuted for manslaughter.

What a mess!

The speculation will just keep rolling in until the toxicology report becomes available in a few more weeks.

Wow! Propofol (Diprivan)…..I have been an Intensive Care Nurse for over 8 years and for someone to use this at home is completely ludicrous. This drug is given in the OR and in ICU's to induce unconsciousness. Just a little too much (I'm talking milliliters difference) can place someone from sleeping, to someone who is unable to breath on their own, to someone with a dangerously low blood pressure, and then cardiovascular collapse. It is a great drug in the hospital setting, but is monitored very, very closely. In a home environment, wow. And to use for insomnia, that is so plain STUPID!! I can't imagine a doctor, who is practicing by the Hippocratic Oath (Do no Harm), would even suggest to use this in a home environment for insomnia. I really hope it's not true. But, being very familiar with this medication, I will admit it could do what happened to MJ. Scary stuff!

How incredible crazy…Someone demanding instant sleep. I understand insomnia, I suffer from it sometimes…I get the desire for sleep…But I would never consdier something like this drug…This is unreal…If this is true, I hope the doctor or source of this drug is prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. All these people who just gave into MJ's whims when it came to drugs, they are the worst. He was a troubled soul who needed help, not pills. So sad. His family should be ashamed. I know he was an adult, but really, who would consider his life choices mature?!?!?! Someone needed to take control of his life, someone who wasnt looking to line their pockets or worry about their own financial future…Like what a Mom would do, someone who really loved him. So sad. Unbelievable what the very rich and privileged can get away with and think they are owed. If I let my daughter self destruct like that, I cant imagine what my life would be like. Those Jackson's got away with murder. Enough of me…xox, ilona rose

    Re: Long Dong Connery – This gal can't resist a kilt (sigh).. I don't think we've met…… yet. ;)

  17. 17

Above all, Michael is the one responsible for his drug addictions, the others were minor players in this. Michael's death is on his hand…just like the million of others that die from drug addictions.
This man was scum. If you think he only sexually abused 2 boys, you are so mistaken. There are a lot of boys that were sexually abused.
This man is not worthy of spending time posting items every few minutes. Get back to Britney, Jon and Kate….anything except this slime. Michael is burning in hell for all his sins

PROPOFOL? ARE YOU SHITTING ME?? Demerol being administered at home is beyond dangerous, and should really only be used in outside of the hospital for pain control during end-stage hospice care (in my opinion), but PROPOFOL? That is used for sedation during medical procedures, NOT EVER for something like insomnia. We used Propofol during endoscopic procedures when a patient needed to be under for short period of time, and was administered and monitored by an anesthesiologist. The only benefit of Propofol is it has a very short half life and patients arouse easily after stopping the administration of the drug with very few lasting side effects. How it can be used for insomnia makes no sense to me because to keep a patient under, it has administered continuously. Unless this 'doctor' had him on some sort of IV drip, I feel that this is complete and utter bullshit. Beyond irresponsible.

  21. 21

Propofol isn't dangerous, until it is given to someone who isn't on a ventilator. It is given millions a time a day, everytime someone has surgery. It doesn't cause extreme pain either. The lidocaine was there because it is a treatment for bad heart rhythms and used in "code blue" and was most likely used by the doctor when he tried to resusitate him.

  22. 22

    Re: canadiana717 – hee hee heeee……….
    i caught you……….. :o ) where and when???????

  23. 23

Wow, this is just shocking. Propofol is a very dangerous sedative often used for surgery and ICU patients. When it's used, it decreases the respiratory drive, so it's VERY closely monitored and controlled because it will make a person stop breathing. And when your heart doesn't get enough O2, it goes into arrest. You can't fight that stuff, and it's not addicting, so I believe this poor person was genuinely using it to get sleep. Synergized with other drugs may produce hallucinogenic effects.. but who knows.
RNs, by law, can't even give it to a patient if there isn't a secure airway.. that's how dangerous and serious this drug is.

Whoever introduced him to this drug knew what it could and would do. That is what's saddest of all… that even though he chose to do it, someone knowingly gave it.

This drug is typically administered by IV because it wears off fast. So someone out there is going to find themselves in a big shit storm soon.. because I'm sure he wasn't administering it himself.

  24. 24

Re: MrsLambert – Propofol IS a dangerous drug when not administered in the proper setting, that setting being a monitored OR or ICU bed or an ambulatory surgical center (and even then its used under the most strict protocol). As a nurse, and under my state laws, I would NEVER be permitted to administer Propofol. I think its irresponsible to say that this is not a dangerous drug. The side effects may be limited and no, its not habit forming, but any drug that can decrease your respiratory status thus creating a serious chain reaction that can lead to cardiac arrest IS DANGEROUS. Period.

  25. 25

Re: CentralMizzouRN – I like you. I bet you are a really great nurse.

  26. 26

This is crazy! BTW The lidocaine was found at his bedside because it was used during his cardiac arrest, by the medics for irregular heart activity. It's NEVER used because Diprivan is painful during infusing, because it's Not. I don't believe a word of this BS. Get your facts straight prior to posting BullShit thats not even true!

  27. 27

I'm an ICU nurse & use Propofol almost on a daily basis on my intubated patients only of course! (those on a ventilator). We woudn't dare use it on a non-intubated patient and we have them on cardiac monitors. Also, we never even give this medication to those ventilated patients unless they are on a set rate usually (meaning the ventilator is giving you the breaths you need). And have crash carts near by.

You need an IV for it. It's not even for pain, it's just a SEDATIVE….it will knock you out completely. That's what it's used for. Usually for intubated patients in the ICU or is used in the OR for surgeries (on patients who are intubated).

Someone has clearly fucked up in the care given to him. Sad what a doctor will do to a man for some extra cash flow isn't it?

PS…….Lidocaine is never used with Propofol. Propofol is not painful to use through the IV.

  28. 28

More conjecture and rumors. Not one of them you have printed here so far has been true. You said MJ was faking his death. A nurse pumped his stomach etc. But you print this shit anyway. No one will know for several weeks & anything you print until then will be untrue, but you'll will print it anyway. You hate when untrue things are said about you, but you could care less about others.

  29. 29

    Rumors….

  30. 30

I've got a question for the fellow nurses up here - if this doc was giving Demerol, Propofol and God knows what else in MJ's home, what do you suppose he did with the wastes? From what I understand (and I might be wrong) this doc didn't even have an active practice in CA.

  31. 31

Re: CentralMizzouRN – Well said! Oh, god if that turns out to be the case. No way would I ever want something like that.

  32. 32

Perez, you shouldn't write about Michael Jackson until you apologize for accusing him of faking his death in the first place. Take responsibility for what you've said.

  33. 33

Re: Atomicbombshell – I heard he was licensed in Texas, Nevada and California. I'd like to know if anyone tried Narcan at any point. (Not so useful if he died from the Propofol, but the Demerol?) And I'd also like to know why the doctor was doing CPR on top of a bed instead of on the floor. Sounds like Dr. Feelgood will be going to jail soon -

  34. 34

It is standard practice to administer lidocaine before bolusing propofol in the OR. Propofol DOES burn…profoundly, so does ketamine and even versed. Propofol infusions in the ICU may not hurt but the volume given for anesthesia inductions does hurt (10-20cc on average) . If he wanted "instant sleep" I'm guessing he would have used a sufficient volume of propofol to need the lidocaine preemptively. Propofol lasts about 10 minutes. It certainly doesn't belong in someone's home and it's not a controlled substance!
