American Apparel Controversy…Again
It's no surprise that a recent U.S. Immigrations and Customs Enforcement inspection of American Apparel turned up a number of employees not authorized to work in the United States, especially considering CEO Dov Charney's advocacy for immigration reform.
According to the inspection, one third of American Apparel's employees are not authorized to work in the United States, although neither the company nor the employees have been charged with anything, and AA promises to "fully comply with its obligations to establish the employment eligibility of prospective employees under immigration law."
They don't, however, expect the findings to affect sales that greatly, if at all.
Let's not forget that unless you're Native American, we're all immigrants. And what's more effective? Kicking the "problem" out or trying to fix the problem at the source?

Well, technically, even Native Americans are immigrants. They came to this continent across the Bering Strait land bridge and worked their way south.
And I'll echo a previous poster - I was born here too, so I'm not an immigrant.
That's great in theory, but lousy in practice. People who play by the rules can end up out of work if the company they work for gets shut down for hiring illegals. The law is there for a reason, and it's not that hard to stay here legally.

I agree with The World's Coming To An End. I don't consider myself African-American as well, just black. My people didn't just get off of a boat or hop a fence. Our ancestors didn't migrate to this country, they were brought here to work for nothing–without a choice. (At least the illegals get paid or can cross back over the border whenever they get ready). Our entire culture was created in America–Fresh. The only thing our ancestors left Africa with was their dark complexion. Not only that, but black Americans are a mixture of African, European and Indian ancestry. You can't find that blend in Africa! We come in all different shades and colors as a result of that, too. We are so American, we shit red, white and blue! Immigrants are people who willingly abandon their country. Remember that. Blacks, whites and Indians are Americans. Everybody else, get in where you fit in. And on that other tip…the only thing that needs fixed is our border.
