Finally a prominent person had the courage to speak the truth. Not only did Michael Jackson desire light skin, he changed his nose to a white person's. To mess around with your nose when you make your living as a performer just doesn't make sense. He must have really not like himself very much.
Read the whole article and put it in proper context. I think Quincy had a lot of truth and positive responses. Plus he seems to have gained wisdom that passed up Michael for whatever reason. Sad.

I'm confused. Is Details magazine sure they spoke with Quincy Jones? This sounds very strange being that Quincy jones has half-white children himself. This "interview" is quite alarming!
Quincy Jones married several white women, not just one, and I'm not attacking his right to fall in love with whomever he chooses. But I have to agree that there was some self-loathing and that Michael's whitening of his skin was but the most obvious symptom. After all, vitiglio is blotchy, it is not uniform.
After the '93 molestation charges the D.A. arranged a warrant and the police compelled Michael to appear so that photos of his genitals and buttocks could be taken. Sure enough, just as his young accuser claimed, there was discoloration on his private parts. Michael's actions were done on purpose to change his skin, nose, lips, eyebrows, etc. He had plenty of help, and it would seem the plastic surgeons' actions were contrary to the Hippocratic oath. But no one was ever held liable for the damage done to him.

The folks here are right. Michael has vitiligo. He puts pale foundation makeup on to mask the uneven discoloration of his skin. He always wears long sleeved jackets. I feel bad for him because I'm sure he's very embarrassed about it. Not to mention he had a horrible childhoold because of the a**h0le father of his who beat often beat him and called him ugly. Very few real friends. He's mostly surrounded by hangers-on. No wonder he's messed up. RIP Michael.

It has come out that Michael wore a kind of make up that burn victims wear all over his face and body– VERY heavy, thick stuff (I guess to cover up his uneven skin tone). However, if he wanted to look black, he could have just used darker make up. Not like this stuff only comes in one color. Seems to me like Quincy Jones was really just stating the obvious.

As far as I know- chem peels do not remove the natural pigment of your skin. They remove the top layer of skin, hence speed the process of cell renewal, get rid of surface wrinkles, tans, etc. It's much more of an antiaging, anti-scar, skin tone evening type of thing. I used chem peels for my acne scars and had great success. I am still the same color. I have a feeling MJ may have used chem peels in order to speed up cell renewal and even out skin tone. I am surprised at all the acid and rudeness when talking about his disease… a lot of people, of every color, change their noses (and go too far, including MJ's siblings).

Also, there is an interview with his make up artist where she talks about trying to disguise the condition, first patching the white spots and then switiching to white when there was too many white areas to cover.
