Captain Jack Sparrow Comes To Life For Some Special Kids
This is the kind of thing that makes Johnny Depp not only an exceptional actor but also a super awesome dude!
While in the UK promoting his newest flick, Public Enemies, Johnny gave a few very sick kids the thrill of a lifetime. He went to visit them at the Great Ormond Street Hospital dressed as his Pirates Of The Caribbean character Captain Jack Sparrow!!!

Johnny visited several wards, including the one his daughter was admitted to when she was treated for kidney failure in 2007, and graciously posed for pictures with all his young fans.
A source recalls: "Johnny was so friendly with all the children in the ward and they absolutely loved his pirate outfit. He spoke to lots of the youngsters and staff - and made their day by posing for pictures with them all."
He's done this kind of thing before. And for him to do it again, that just makes Depp first-rate class act in our book.

Not only did he show up, but he donned his I am sure quite uncomfortable pirate outfit for them. Imagine one of the other Hollywood leading men doing something similar! Think Christian Bale would show up at a childrens hospital in the Bat suit?
He really manages to straddle that line of great method actor who is completely devoted to good work while still being a real human being. I doubt any other actor of his caliber would have done that; they would all have said it was beneath them.

Re: magicmom – It wasn't a sponsored event - its the 2nd time he's been to Gt Ormond St Hospital it's been a completely private visit both times done out of gratitude for them making his daughter well after she was taken ill last year. And that's why there have never been any pictures in the press… Not everything thing a publicity junket for a latest film…
