Both ABBA And Led Zeppelin To Replace Jackson??

Filed under: Anglophilia > Music Minute > Michael Jackson

wenn1569428zep.jpg

Could ABBA be able to replace Michael Jackson's residency at the O2 and sell out all 50 nights on their own?

What about ABBA and rock legends Led Zeppelin???

The word is AEG Live has offered both Zeppelin and ABBA some major dough to play alternating nights at the O2 Arena in London in the place of the late King of Pop.

Led Zeppelin played their first show in 19 years at the O2 back in 2007; could we be seeing a 25-show encore in the near future?

Shares a source: "Only Michael Jackson could sell out 50 nights at such a big arena, but Led Zeppelin and Abba combined might just rival him. There is huge money on the table."

Hey, money talks!

Update: Benny Andersson of ABBA is denying talk of a reunion.

ABBA's Benny Anderson came out a week ago and said that there was no way they would get together to do this. They turned down 1 billion dollars in the early 90's to reform and tour, there is no way they would do it.

  2. 2

ABBA won't accept. If they by some miracle do - I'M SO GOING TO LONDON!

  3. 3

Nope, you will never see ABBA again…

  4. 4

I.d rather see Zeppelin any day over Jackson anyhow.

  5. 5

Robert Plant has said that he doesn't want to do anything in terms of performing with Zeppelin, at least not for a couple of years. Could this event change his mind? I guess we'll find out, but I'll believe it when I see it.

  6. 6

Money Talks? Thats ACDC, not Led Zeppelin!

  7. 7

I have all their stuff on your new D. Can't wait to give it to you. :)

  8. 8

OMG i would loooooove to see led zeppelin!

  9. 9

no matter who performs it'll never be as cool as seeing michael jackson. besides, i seriously doubt ABBA and Led Zeppelin will perform. probly just a stupid rumour.

  10. 10

Robert Plant said that his is never playing with Zepplin again, they were about to reunite last year, but Plant refused, never gonna happen.

  11. 11

I agree if Zep does it it will be w/o Plant and thus won't really be Zeppelin at all

  12. 12

    ABBA will never reunite.

  13. 13

LATE NEWS AGAIN. So late in fact ABBA has already denied this.

  14. 14

Oh for fuck sake. do your research you thick shit. Benny was on the Jonathan Ross show 2 days ago saying it would never happen

  15. 15

    No way ABBA would reunite…

  16. 16

Re: perezwho – i don't think he said 'never' so much as 'not now.' he's doing allison krauss….i mean, working with allison krauss and he wants to focus on that for the time being. he didn't rule it out altogether, unless there was a more recent interview in which he recanted his maybe in a few years statement.

  17. 17

Perez you are getting so slow! Everything you are writing i seem to have read in the Sun in the UK the day before!

  18. 18

Re: idontthinksobuddy – Yeah i was thinking that when i watched it last night, cause i missed it friday. BUT its actually shot on wednesday init, maybe before they got asked about this :/

  19. 19

    bought
    a
    Zepplin
    shirt lazt
    week….
    luv them
    and Abba♥

  20. 20

steve mcnair died…you better get on that fatty.

  21. 21

ABBA already denied they'd get beck together. And Zeppelin? Even though I firmly believe they'd be able to sell out all 50 dates, I don't see them reforming. It's well known that Plant just doesn't want to do it.

  22. 22

Omg puts a light, positive spin on articles and other tidbits that mostly come from other news organizations such as Access Hollywood and The Associated Press. The vital placement of omg links and blurbs on Yahoo's home page gives it access to some 500 million unique visitors a month.

The strategy has VAULTED the 2-year-old site past People and T,M,Z, both units of Time Warner Inc., as well as other popular celebrity sites like Perez,Hilton.

    23

Sorry but there's no way ABBA are coming back together. They'd have to be really, really hard up for cash, which they're probably not, to do it.

  24. 24

ABBa is retired. Why do you even mention this nonsense and get people's hopes up for nothing? Tabloid trash at it's lowest.

  25. 25

Why are you still talking about ABBA when it's already been said that they won't do it? …by a member of the band itself I might add!

  26. 26

OMG. even combined, they would NEVER reach Micheal's level.

  27. 27

  29. 29

Re: cjcsbennett – you are really hansome, will you be my man? please fuck me, I ladyboy from Malaysia, I need man for good time

  30. 30

Both Abba & Led Zeppelin could each make a billion dollars touring wherever and whenever they want to. Why do they need Michael Jackson to die in order to make a comeback? Why would they care that AEG needs to sell out 50 nights in London?

  31. 31

  32. 32

    Perez,

YOUR "SOURCE" HAS NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO IDEA OF WHAT THEY'RE F*#KING TALKING ABOUT WITH THIS!!!!

ABBA COULD SELL OUT 100 SHOW AT THE O2 WITH NO PROBLEM. THEY WERE NEVER THAT BIG HERE IN THE US BUT ABBA WERE MONSTERS IN THE MUSIC BUSINESS IN THE REST OF THE WORLD.

YOUR SOURCE IS TALKING OUT OF THEIR ASS IF THEY THINK THEY COULDN'T.

  33. 33

fuck my boy hole… I need man

  34. 34

    Bullshit. You're so gullible, Perez.

  35. 35

Re: PEREZmakesME-WET – You poor thing, don't you have a dildo or something?

  36. 36

Why not just reunite the Beatles with Julian Lennon and Dhani Harrison while we're at it? AIN'T GONNA HAPPEN!!!

  37. 37

I would love to see ABBA!!

  38. 38

i think they should have the jackson bro's get together and have janet stand in for Michael…that would be an awesome show!!

  39. 39

Ohhh ABBA, now you've got me humming "you're the dancing queen, young and sweet, only seventeen…."

  40. 40

Led Zep could EASILY sell out 50 shows. ABBA and Zep are not in financial desperation like MJ was - so they don't need to do this.

  41. 41

Re: Shayla R Cakes – Yeah, I think you're right. I think he said that he wasn't gonna do it for at least a couple of years.

  42. 42

Re: Perez is a wanker. – I poor ladyboy so use banana

  43. 43

Dancing Queen!!!!! you can dance you can dancing

having the fuck of your life

see that snatch dig in your cock!!!

  44. 44

Re: PEREZmakesME-WET – Banana is nice… you can peel it later and eat it. Yum. Very smart, dear. But banana is curved…. Hmmm… have you ever tried a zucchini? It's bigger then banana!
Hothouse cucumbers are great also. You know the looooong ones? They are always sold wrapped in a plastic. Just peel off the plastic before using, okay sweety? Muahh!

  45. 45

that AEG guy is a fool. Zeppelin could easily sell 100 shows at the O2. They had that many take requests already for the one show they did last year. I would hope Plant would reconsider, though. The death of Jackson might make him thing again that they won't all live forever. If I were the British Prime Minister I would have Plant on the phone and point out that doing 40 or 50 shows in London, 20,000 fans coming in every day to see them, would be a huge boost for the London economy, tourism, hotels, everything, like holding 5 Super Bowls in two months..

  46. 46

Michael Jackson was the King of Pop. If I had a ticket for this, there would be no way I would want Led Zepplin + ABBA. That would be soo crap.

  47. 47

the AEG guy may have blown it just by saying something so stupid as to put Zeppelin below Michael Jackson. They blow MJ away without all the media hype. Their fans are real fans of all music, not like the obsessed middle-of-the-road MJ fans, who think he is "innovative." If there was an influential band in disco/pop it was the Bee Gees. MJ was never anything more than the McDonald's of pop. He may have sold the most hamburgers, just like McDonald's, but any American knows there are a million places you can get a better burger.

  48. 48

what about dj tiesto ? hello !!!!!!!!! he does over 100 shows a year, he sells them out trust me

  49. 49

    Re: godzilla31 – dang, an intelligent post. I hope it's not contagious…lol

  50. 50

One of the guys from ABBA was on the BBC afternoon show on Friday and said a reunion was possible.

  51. 51

eww they dont even compare to michael jackson!!!

  52. 52

Re: Lisaaa :) – there is a time difference to be fair haha

  53. Laury says – reply to this

    53

    Re: godzilla31

Go to hell. Led Zeppelin are rock legends, I'll give them that, but how dare you call MJ the McDonald's of pop??? I understand that many people didn't like MJ, and it's fine. But failing to recognize his talent and contribution to the music industry is pathetic.

  54. 54

Abba would NEVER do this. lol

  55. 55

    Re: godzilla31
Replace all the "MJs" in your statement with "Madonna", and you'll understand how I feel about her.

  56. 56

why is jimmy playing a stratocaster
    o the blasphemy

  57. 57

How can anyone not like Abba? Maybe it's my European upbringing, but as candy-coated some of their songs sound, Bjorn & Benny have written some of the most sophisticated and complex melodies, and Anna and Frida's voices blended and solo are unrivaled. They haven't performed or recorded music in over 25 years, yet their music is still dominating a lot of charts around the world, and they inspired several plays and movies (Mamma Mia, Priscilla Queen of the Desert, Muriel's Wedding). Like them or not, to say they wouldn't make a good choice to do these shows is silly. People would be lining up to see them.

  58. 58

    ABBA it's Ok

MJ was amazing, probably the best entertainer ever….I will always love him

    but….

    Led Zeppelin are GODS.

I would have killed just to attend an MJ concert. But for seeing Led Zeppelin I would extract my own kidney with a spoon To sell it on the black market in order to afford a ticket

  59. 59

im so going.not really caring for abba, but cmon, who doesn't wanna go led zep?
ps:20 million people gave a try in 2007 for that unique gig.not tha bad either,uh?

  60. 60

I'd see Abba in a heart beat, but they have said it will NEVER happen. What about Neil Diamond?

  61. 61

ABBA regrouping is total nonsense. One of the female members married into royalty so it would be totally impossible for her to become a pop star again. Secondly, they were offered a billion dollars a few years ago to regroup and she turned it down.

I can promise you its not going to be ABBA.

  62. 62

Zeppelin don't fill in for anyone. Good luck with that.

  63. 63

Led Zeppelin would outsell Mike on his best day. I say this, and I LOVED Michael Jackson. But, in their day, Led Zeppelin were DEITIES! There is no debate…PEACE.

  64. 64

Re: SHABBA! – You said "Michael Jackson was the King of Pop. If I had a ticket for this, there would be no way I would want Led Zepplin + ABBA. That would be soo crap. "
    _____________________________________________________________-

No, Michael Jackson called himself the King of Pop. Over the last decade I would be willing to bet that Abba has outsold him worldwide. Remember, in the U.S. the eagles Greatest hits has outsold Thriller.

  65. 65

Once again Zeppelin is cast into the the spotlight, and once again the monkey is set upon Roberts back as he once sang, If this thing ever did go through could be one of the biggest specticals in musical history. It's a shame that it had to happen under these circumstances. Lots of money on the table they say, but to the members of both ABBA and Zeppelin money isn't everything. It's a great idea but great ideas are like assholes everybody has one! Have to wait and hear it from the horses mouth.

Re: Leutenant Dan – I think you might of hit the nail on the head with that one!!
