LA City Officials Concerned Over Jackson Memorial
LAPD and city officials are slowly but surely starting to freak the eff out over Michael Jackson memorial, set to take place at the Staples Center in downtown Los Angeles on Tuesday morning.
Hundreds of thousands, possibly even a million people are anticipated to show up downtown, even though only 17,500 tickets to the service are being made available to the public (that's the capacity of the arena).
Officials are realizing they may not have the funds or the time to properly prepare for the massive crowd!
City councilman Dennis Zine suggested that the Jackson family and AEG Live (the promotor for Jackson's comeback shows) pony up the $$$$$ to cover the extra security costs.
LAPD are urging fans to stay home and watch the memorial live on television, but we can't see that happening in a million years!

Over 1 million people showed up for the Presidential inauguration in DC and things were fine. There were no incidents, crowds were not unruly and things went smoothly. If the Washington police department could handle that crowd, the LAPD need to get it together and do the job for this event. Michael deserves this memorial and they need t work it out to make it happen.

Educate yourself. His first accuser has since admitted he made it up because daddy was looking for a piece of MJ's fortune. Also, if memory serves… was he not acquitted of all charges? Um…I am a taxpayer in LA. Our city and state are broke. Who knows where all of my tax money goes to, but a big chunk went to the Lakers parade last month and now it's going to help pay for a pop star's funeral. The family needs to pony up the money for the city out of respect for his fans and the city of LA. I paid more taxes to LA and CA then I did to the Federal government last year, and I'd like to see some of the GD potholes in this city get fixed first! I've had to fix my shocks TWICE in 2 years. Or how about the school teachers and government workers getting paid with IOUs?

If this event turns into chaos it would be the fault of the organizers. How in the hell do you have a memorial for a man who was absolutely adored by hundreds of millions of people, and only allow 17 000 of them to attend. Also I belive that it was unfar to exclude fans from the rest of the world from attending (although they were allowed later). Michael ften spoke about how horible and mean the american press was towards him. and the tabloids also caused many of his american fans to turn against him. Michaels fans in the rest of the world stood by him no matter what and had unconditional love for him. So i thought it was very mean to exclude them. I feel that if they would have decided earlier and announced the winners earlier anyone could have made it. Im canadian and i can assure you that I would have found a way. RIP Michael You will be eternally loved by all your true fans.

why does the city and mainly THE JACKSONS AND THE PROMOTERS think millions are going to converge on the staples center? if you dont have a bracelet, you are not getting near the center. Soooo, if you really are a fan, you don't have a ticket, and you show up down there, you will miss his memorial. THAT DOES NOT MAKE SENSE. besides, I hit in for tickets, under a few addresses. I was not planning to go, it was more of a fascination. others are trying to sell them. ALOT of them. and from seeing posts and shows on MJ, the up to date ones, the majority of people are going on about 1) his drug use and who supplied him, 2) who is the father 3) who gets the kids 4) pediphile and how many times 5) his music -most seemed interested in his freakiness and his drug use and did his kids see it, and then the music. I really thought that I would hear more of his music on the radio, but I am not. I am truely amazed on the amount of friends he supposedly had. IF HE KNEW that, maybe he would not be dead now.

Acting mayor, JAN PERRY auth'd the money for the memorial, taking funds from the emergency fund, funds that are used for fires, earthquakes, she has a history of unwisely sponsoring events in LA, she helped sponsor a very POORLY run Film festival called Jules Verne Film festival, which by the way was run by 2 Frenchmen who then RAN back to France to escape the vendors they owed,one of the french men was known for improper actions towards young men and boys who attended. She needs to be removed from office for authing city funds for a Private event
