Original Bruno Ending Different From What's To Be Shown In Theaters

Ouch!
Bruno has caused serious concerns within the gay community, but if the studio went with the original ending of the film, it would have been extremely more controversial.
And it's already VERY controversial!
Warning: SPOILER ALERT!
In the current cut of the film, Bruno (Sacha Baron Cohen) and his abandoned, lovesick assistant Lutz (Gustaf Hammerstan) reunite at an Arkansas cage match where the two begin to make out inside the cage while an angry mob reacts with disbelief and hurl objects at the couple.
Bruno and Lutz end up in domestic bliss with their adopted baby.
The previous ending featured a more dismal reaction for the pair!
"The cage-match kiss resulted in a violent attack on the couple. They then cut to a press event where they are announcing their marriage or plans to, I forget which. But the boyfriend is now drooling, seemingly brain-damaged, and in a wheelchair, played for laughs,” said writer Richard Day.
Day and his partner, actor Jack Plotnick were the only members of the gay community invited to an industry screening in February.
They had concerns, yet none of the other attendees felt the same.
“Then I started in and Jack joined with his thoughts. By the time I got to the bashing, the audience started defending the movie. They were annoyed with us for ruining the party,” stated Day.“I don’t know if we’re why they changed it but if we are, I regret saying anything. It would have been better to let them expose their true point of view; thanks to us they had a road map of the most egregious offenses and can also claim to have been responsive to our concerns.”

Anyone that truly believes BRUNO is helpful for the GAY community is sadly SADLY mistaken. BRUNO, I believe, was hoping to shed light on those awful individuals that mock, and ridicule GAY culture; however, AMERICA isn't that smart. They'll take this as an oppurutnity to fall into over used FALSE stereotypes…I find it sad that we've chosen to celebrate the release of something so mind numbing. Comedy shouldn't be based off of material like this- I hope that people within the gay community stand up against this…it's sad that we still haven't been treated fairly within MAINSTREAM entertainment. We've always been the butt of the joke, and this doesn't do us any favors. It only hinders us even more. I'm just hurt…plain and simple, hurt.

When was this movie ever going to be cool? It's SBC. He's a tool. There are plenty of other movies- in a variety of genres - out there that depict gay life without the Adam Sandler impression.
i don't see how Bruno is such a big deal, did anyone see Borat? sure, the character might of been extremely outrageous and untruthful, but it was completely mocking redneck Americans that are still racist. now i haven't seen the movie yet, but from what I've heard it seems like it is doing to same thing to homophobic people. really, it is just comedy, some people need to take themselves less seriously.

The movie looks stupid and unfunny as it is - the original ending would have made it even worse. This is not about political correctness - it is about respect.

honestly, i don't think the original ending should have been changed. To me, it makes more fun of the complete bigoted assholes who would and sadly HAVE done things like that to gay people. It shows them for the dangerous and fucked up menaces to society that they are, granted with some notably dark humor. But still, better to have it out there rather than sugar coat it.

Sorry, I can't see the problem. It is a funny film not to be taken too seriously even though it addresses discrimination and stereotyping.
The original ending had nothing to do with homosexuality, probably more fear of offending people with disabilities. Get over yourself Perez.
Both of Sacha's characters Ali G and Bruno were very weak and extremely unfunny. He would have been more successful putting out a Borat sequel but that would mean he would have to actually write material instead of his "ambush and provocation" of regular people.
